Erverain You know, I just got a look at your avi, aretoo. Are you trying to be the Nite Owl? And I've already had my quota of comic-based movies since I went to see The Spirit. Maybe some other time. Close... actually, it's Dr. Midnite... And I wish you'd asked me, or consulted Rotten Tomatoes, or had a large guy named Butch roll you, or SOMETHING before going to see Frank Miller excreting on a great cartoonist's legacy. xp

Ah. My mistake. I hadn't run across that particular character in my comic reading experience... Well, the only reason I saw it was because 1. It was my older brother's idea 2. It had Samuel L. Jackson in it and 3. I had nothing better to do.

Erverain Ah. My mistake. I hadn't run across that particular character in my comic reading experience... Well, the only reason I saw it was because 1. It was my older brother's idea 2. It had Samuel L. Jackson in it and 3. I had nothing better to do. Yeah, I was excited to see it (Will Eisner's strip has been around since the 30s, it was actually a pulp hero strip in newspapers, I believe, and Will Eisner actually has a very prestigious award named after him), UNTIL I saw the first previews and thought, "Uh-oh, Frank Miller's remaking The Spirit into Sin City 1.5." Which is all well and good, if you're watching Sin City and not The Spirit (which had a nice light touch to it). For comparison, Rotten Tomatoes (which takes movie reviews by professional reviewers all over the world and averages them out) currently has Watchmen at 81% approval. The Spirit came in at FIFTEEN percent. So, technically watching The Spirit IS better than doing nothing, but not by much. confused

Well, I've run out of relevant discourse, so I'm gonna head out. Later all.
