*sigh* True I guess.

...And there's a reason stereotypes exist, much as people hate to admit it... wink

There's another one where mob bosses are hiding out at a gay bath house, called At The Ritz, or Night At The Ritz, or something like that... Also plays off of all the stereotypes... also on my "see sometime" list. smile

EDIT: Amazon seems to be recommending "Love At First Bite", too, which is apparently a gay humor take on vampires. smile

I swear people like that piss me the hell off ><

stereotypes can be funny if done in an over the top manner, I mean if its done in a way where they're supposed to be taken seriously then its no longer funny

I could never grasp the concept of stereotypes.

I make fun of stereotypes all the time, particularly the Mexican ones, its really fun to fight with my black friends about which is worse "Mexican time" or "Black time" I insist we take longer to get places!

That's one that I haven't heard of...

And the last time that I said that about stereotypes, I got in trouble. Big trouble. I think it's because I'm white. Or male. Or straight...

RE: Love at First Bite — Jim Carey did a movie with Lauren Hutton called Once Bitten. Lauren Hutton was in Zorro, The Gay Blade with George Hamilton who stared in Love at First Bite.

@Silver — Well, it's like this: If a bear attacks and kills a close friend of yours, the next time you see a bear you're not going to think, "Gee, maybe this bear is different."

But what if I wanted to hug the bear, thus killing me?
Totally beside the point, I guess. But the bears out here are nice. Considering, you know, there's none around here.

Okay, I'm going to stop talking about bears. Point gotten, though.

Stereotypes tend to go over better when being made fun of by member(s) of the group being stereotyped.

I think then others say "ok...it's okay to laugh too."

Honestly, I don't mind if white people make fun of the stereotypes about Mexicans, as long as its obvious they're making fun of the stereotype or just making jokes. The only time I ever get upset is when it sounds like they're taking those stereotypes seriously cause well... then that means they believe them and that's where it gets insulting.

...Or you were talking to (a) someone without a sense of humor, or (b) someone militant, or (c) a professional "victim"... rolleyes smile

And I agree, Sanzo, it's when they start taking it seriously and/or being nasty about it.

RE: Stereotypes--....I don't really care about stereotypes anymore. Or maybe I've been so desensitized to them from hanging out with the kinds of friends I have sweatdrop

Some of the funniest jokes about stereotypes I've heard from my white friends, who I KNOW aren't racist. But they definitely make for the funny 3nodding

Its all fun and games until someone takes it the wrong way.

Which is probably why you have to know your audience, and how your jokes COULD be taken.
