Joshua glanced between the sea creatures and Mac. He seemed torn for a moment. Finally, he sighed and stayed where he was. "Tianara's right. We'll stay here Mac. You take Aria and go." He smiled encouragingly.
Aria looked curious now. "Why do we need to go to the shore line?" She'd been there many times before. It was nothing special in her opinion. Just a basic beach, the easiest one to access so it was often the busiest.
Allen glanced up at Mac and shook his head violently. "And leave them? Not on your life I won't." He promptly returned his attention to Jinx and the others. He shook his head, grinning. "Ah, but she's young. Why not let her have her fun?" He suddenly looked confused by Jinx's words. "Help? Help with what? I'll help any way I can." The old man agreed without even knowing what they needed to do. He simply wanted to help the merfolk, whatever it was they needed help with.

Nezik pulled himself a little higher up on the beach to examine them. "So she's the one?" he asked quietly, receiving Tianara's nod as an answer. "I hope she can help," the young merman said dubiously as he watched Aria and Mac. "We seem to be reaching a bit now." Tianara chuckled wryly. She thought much the same thing.
Katalina smiled at the old man's words. "We wouldn't be going anywhere," she pointed out. "We live here. Well, Nezik and I do, anyway. Jinx and Narcis only come by to visit." A thought occurred to her, and she glanced at Jinx. "Where do you live, anyway?"
Jinx grinned and shrugged. "With the family," she replied breezily as she looked back at Allen. When he looked confused, she lifted a brow. "The imminent war. You must be the only person connected with the seafolk who hasn't heard about it yet."
"Nixie," said Narcis wearily. "Is this really necessary?"
"Well, I thought he was here to help," Jinx pointed out. "And he says he will. He can't help if he doesn't know what we're getting into."
"She's right," agreed Katalina clearly. "The more humans we have on our side when it comes down to it, the better. I know you think we should handle this on our own, Narcis, but the fact is that we can't. We need their help."

"Come with me" Mac said to her gently. He walked back through the forest and began to make his way back to the shoreline.

Joshua nodded as well, in answer to Nezik's question. "We're all hoping she can help." He admitted to the merman. "Any help is better than none." He pointed out, despite being unsure of what Mac and Aria were going to find.
"Well considering I only found out that the seafolk were real about an hour ago, I think it's understandable." An angry expression crossed Allen's face. "War? Again? Can humans never stop fighting?" The old man was quick and put two and two together. "And this time, the target is going to be the seafolk isn't it?" He crossed his arms and huffed. "Stupid hot heads. This can't be allowed." Allen's determined streak was showing itself. Once he decided on something, he very rarely changed his mind.
Aria nodded mutely and followed behind Mac. She was till unsure of what was going to happen or why it needed her. Still, there was no harm in trying was there? And anyways, the girl couldn't help but be curious.

((I'm thinking maybe I should make Aria and Mac fall in love later? I know its different)) As they walked side by side, Mac had a mind full of mixed feeling towards her. Somehow, he felt a pull, but what kind of pull? Could it be it's only because of his spiritual entity? He glanced over towards her, and thought that maybe it was maybe something else. Did he feel attraction as well? The image of her made him want to protect her as a prized treasure. "I hope you understand what's going to happen, but you'll soon find out" he said mysteriously with his eyes holding a longing expression.
They made there way onto the beach, and he pointed to the 3 shellfish on top of the rock. "There is where we must go. There is a hidden item that she hid there in case there was an emergency and only family can retrieve it".
((I'm going to make the item in text))

"Not really," said Nezik, showing some uncertainty. "No help might be better than help that ends up harming. That's just theoretical, though - I think she might be able to help us, and even if she doesn't it certainly won't hurt us." His opinion of Aria seemed to be swinging, and it was difficult to tell what he actually thought. However, eventually he just shrugged good-naturedly and murmured, "In any event, she can't make it much worse."
Jinx smiled slowly. "It won't be allowed," she agreed calmly. "We've already alerted the folk around here, and they're spreading it beyond their borders. We're preparing for war if it gets down to it, but..." She sighed and glanced at Katalina. "Maybe you should explain. I haven't been in it long enough to really understand."
Katalina took over the explanation willingly enough. "There's this...creature that's roaming the Earth, now. He's a sort of being wrapped in chains. I don't know exactly what he is, but he knew a lot about the war that he claimed was already coming." She shrugged. "We think he's initiating it, somehow. So we thought if maybe we could turn the tide of anger against those who would use it to wipe us out, we might be able to prevent total destruction of the seafolk." She sighed softly. "It's not a great alternative, but we don't have many choices."

((An interesting idea. Could be done.))
Aria shook her head at Mac's words. "I don't understand. But I suppose I soon will." She smiled in amusement. The girl had a calm that was hard to shake. Even the three shellfish guarding a treasure didn't bother her. "Alright then. So just get it then?" Aria moved off without waiting for an answer. She began climbing the rock, being careful of the shellfish. They seemed to study her for a moment then scuttling to the side. It might have been her imagination, but it seemed almost like they had bowed for a brief second.
Allen nodded as he listened. A thoughtful expression had appeared. "So this...creature is provoking people? Any idea what he's say or doing? Maybe that'll be the key to turning the tide." Despite being called crazy, he was actually fairly smart. "At least you have some sort of plan." He told Katalina gently.
Joshua shook his head. "No. It'd be hard for her to make things worse than they are." He gave a grin, shaking his head slightly. "Besides, Aria's a good girl. I'm sure she'd be willing to help."

((OOC: Am I the only one who finds that mildly eww? She's going to fall in love with her own ancestor, which is sort of like distant incest. XD Kidding. If that's what you want, you could see if it works.))
Nezik chuckled drily. "Exactly. I hope she's willing to, otherwise we get to do a lot of re-thinking. Now, should we wander over and see what the others are doing?" he inquired. By 'the others' he meant Allen and the other three merfolk. Tianara had already gotten up to wander towards them.
Katalina smiled wryly. "If we knew what he was saying," she said softly, "we'd be able to stop it. Completely. In its tracks. As it is, most of us are stuck in the water. We can't react to what he's doing - we can barely figure out a plan to take us through if he manages to convince the humans that we're all trouble and need to be eliminated." She shook her head a bit, and when Narcis laid a light hand on her shoulder, she smiled sadly. "It's not much of a plan - I don't know how we're going to turn the tide, or even if it will be necessary. He might not be able to convince anyone at all."

((No, after this, Listaria's soul finally rests and fades so Mac will be himself again. Souls recycle ok?))
Mac waded out from the shoreline with her, but he stayed in the shallows. A shining light flashed from the object after the shellfish moved, and all the years of corrosion disappeared off from it. The light from the object died down, to reveal a beautiful scallop-shell shaped amulet that had a slight pearlized coating. It opened up to reveal a lovely patterned inside with a pearl inside a setting made for it. The pearl was unique in itself as it was a silver hue and seemed to glow slightly.
A voice rang out from it, the voice from Listaria long ago, "It appears that danger is near, and both the land and sea are in peril. Take this and let it be of use, as it will allow you to do many great things. May love be with you" the voice finished. Then the pendant closed again. Mac felt a little lighter now, almost as if Listaria inside him seemed at ease now.

((It's kinda weird, but neither of them actually know each other. Nor are they blood relatives. Which makes it all okay. XD ))
Aria looked down at the scallop shell amulet. She jumped when the voice rang - She certainly had not been expecting that. Sea colored eyes watched as the pendant closed. Hesitantly, she reached out and picked it up by the cord it hung from. It twirled slowly in the bright light. It really was a gorgeous pendant. The girl put the cord over her head and pulled her hair out from under it. Now the scallop shell pendant rested on her chest as she climbed down the rock. "Okay, that was more than weird. That was....I don't know.
((I''ll post the other two later. I g2g eat supper then I'm heading out.))

Chuckling, Joshua nodded. He turned and waded through the waters towards the others. Somehow he was unsurprised to find Allen already deep in planning to help the seafolk. He smiled at the old man thankfully. "I'd hoped you would help us out."
Allen continued to look thoughtful. "Well, having even just the start of a plan is something. It means you're not just going to roll over and let everyone walk all over you." He shook his head decisively. "Can't stand idiots who won't fight for what they believe in." He glanced up as Joshua came over. He grinned at the teen's words. "Of course I'd help you silly boy. Not help the seafolk? You should know me better." Allen admonished the younger boy.
Joshua simply laughed. "I do know you better old man. If didn't think you'd get along with them and help, I wouldn't have brought you here. Simply as that. Their safety comes first." Allen nodded in agreement.

((OOC: Totally running away with this, but I feel like all my characters should at least get a paragraph. XD))
Jinx, who had fallen silent, was watching Narcis and Katalina with something vaguely like surprise. The older Siren regally ignored his sister, but Katalina glanced over at her with a quick grin.
"Or swim all over us, as the case may be," murmured Tianara, sitting cross-legged just out of reach of the tides. Had she been wearing clothes of her own, she would have just gone in and let them get wet, but she was very aware that she was wearing someone else's things. She felt it was good manners to take care of them.
Nezik, looking amused as he glanced at the slim brunette, continued Katalina's story. "Jinx and I went looking for him - tried to find out if he's been stirring up our more rowdy cousins. He hasn't been there. But most folk promised to keep an eye out for him, and head him off at the pass if he tried to get our more hotheaded kin to start a war." He sighed. "We might not survive it even if the humans are the instigators. We can't afford to start it. Can't have them think that we're dangerous."
Katalina's smile was weak. "Look at you, little brother," she murmured. "So grown up all of a sudden." Perhaps sensing her need for comfort after such plain speaking, the hand Narcis had laid lightly on her shoulder slid down her arm to take her hand. She turned a small smile towards him before returning her attention to the matter at hand. "If he's not stirring up our folk, meeting Nezik and Caralei and I might have discouraged him. But if he's not trying to convince us to start it, he's convincing humans to."
Narcis shook his head. "And all this is rehashing what we already know," he said briskly. "We need to start covering new ground." Lifting a brow at Joshua, he said, sounding rather startled to be saying it, "I think we might need more. Humans, I mean, on our side. If this chained creature is on land, we need those who can go on land to look for him." He smiled wryly. "I'm the only one of us who can do such things, and we all know how that particular experiment turned out."
"There are other ocean children," said Jinx at last, sounding a bit surprised. "Like Tianara, I mean. She's not the only one. We know they would be on our side, if we can find them. There are some graduated ones, some that still live with their clans. They would help us, if only to protect their families."

Joshua glanced back at Tianara curiously, wondering why she wasn't coming into the water. "Tianara? You coming in?" Narcis called his attention back to the planning at hand. He looked surprised by the Siren's suggestion. Honestly, Narcis was about the last one he would have thought to suggest that. He'd thought the suggestion would have come from Katalina or Nezik. He winced at the thought of when Narcis had come on shore. "Not repeating that if we can help it." Joshua glanced at the younger Siren, slightly surprised. He hadn't thought to look for other ocean children. "That's a good idea." He murmured. "They would probably be the most determined to help. Of the humans I mean. Because they were raised with the merfolk and understand them."
Allen glanced between the two Sirens in surprise. "How many are there?" He asked, genuinely curious - And not just for the upcoming war's sake. "Do the merfolk often take in children? That could help us." He snapped his fingers as an idea occurred to him. "The....ocean children, you called them?....are proof that the merfolk aren't dangerous. Rather than harming anyone, they're actually help to save the young children lost at sea."
