I should add, though, that my favorite filmed production of "Romeo and Juliet", indeed, most of Shakespeare's plays, has been from the Reduced Shakespeare Company. @aretoo — All of it, all of it? Or most of it, all of it? Most teachers find it uncomfortable to show their consummation... *hates Branagh*

ALL of it all of it. (Including Lancelot, er, wrestling with his sword in Excalibur). wink
hehehe We also had college texts, and that's where I first read Donald Sutherland's adaptation of Lyssystrada. biggrin (Funny adaptation...)
What don't you like about Branagh? (Other than he's rather a ham of an actor)

There's an air about him that I dislike and it, unfortunately, carries over to his films...
As awesome as his presentation of Hamlet was technically, I still liked the Mel Gibson one better.

Well... though I've been here all night when it was slow, it's time for this raccoon to hit the hay. smile
And Tsuji? I think he's a ham of an actor, but still think he's a pretty good director. *shrug* smile
Did you ever see Richard III with Ian McKellan? Rather good... smile
And for a fascinating take on The Tempest (if you can find it), try Prospero's Books by Peter Greenaway. biggrin

Romeo: "What shall I swear by then?" Juliet: [points to an elderly lady in the audience] "How about her?" Romeo: "Lady, by yonder blessed virgin do I swear!" [Both look at the elderly lady] Both: "No... I don't think so..."
