((Oh good ! my 'auntie' posts are driving me insane, I need somthing for Elodie to do after she wakes up..though...I need to wait a respectable amount of time, XD)
PostPosted: Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:45 am

((OOC: Hello, ladies. Just a quick post to let you know that I'm going to be MIA for a couple of weeks - finals are coming up. D8 Wish me luck.))

Cybil looked grim.

"Easily enough," she said shortly. "We just have to wait for a suitable disaster."

Mark looked up at her, and his eyes went wide. "Cyb, you wouldn't..."

"Oh yes, I would," she replied, cutting him off as sharply as though she'd used a knife. "If Miss Abigail has something to say to us, I'd like to hear what it is, and I'd like it to be before we all die a bloody, fiery death. Now if you two will excuse me..." She got to her feet. "I'm going to either go make dinner or kill myself. I'll decide when I get to the kitchen. Miranda, would you like to join us for food if I'm not dead?"

Leaving it hanging on the air, she went into the tiny kitchen area and opened the fridge.

((Mokay. Good luck!!))

Miranda looked worried at Cybil's words. She didn't like the sound of that. She couldn't exactly order the girl around though, so she simply kept her mouth shut. With a sigh, she rose and followed the blonde. "Dinner sounds good actually." She admitted quietly. "Want some help? I'm pretty good in a kitchen."

((OOC: Screw finals. I don't really need to pass. razz ))

Cybil was pulling things seemingly at random out of the cupboards, the fridge and the freezer - vegetables, some random spices, yellowish ice cubes (possibly stock), a chicken, and what looked like...chocolate sauce?

"Sure," she said absently. "I need to butcher the chicken - they're cheaper when I buy them this way. If you want to chop up vegetables for me, go ahead. Pick whatever looks good to you, I'll make it work." She was something of an idiot savant in the kitchen - she knew nothing about recipes, proportions, what should go well with what. But somehow, once she was in there, she made something out of whatever was around.

Mark wandered over to take a look, and took charge of the spices without Cybil saying anything. "I know what she's making," he confided to Miranda quietly. "She does this one a lot. I can figure out the sauce."

He went and grabbed a couple of teaspoons - they were the closest thing to measuring spoons Cybil had.

((lol I should tell you to get back to studying, but honestly? I'd rather you here.))

Miranda looked over the ingredients, wondering if Cybil even knew how to cook. With a sigh, she shook her head and gathered up the vegetables. "I hope she knows what she's doing." She responded to Mark in a low voice. She took the vegetables to the sink, washing them. Then she dragged the garbage over to the table where she sat down. She began peeling and chopping the vegetables.

((OOC: EXAMS ARE DONE WHOOO! Now just three papers to write/submit and two finals to do!))

Cybil, without looking around, said lightly, "I have no idea what I'm doing. That tends to happen a lot. Somehow it always works out." That said, she turned her attention back to the chicken, which was already cut up and which she was in the process of shredding to little chicken pieces.

Mark grinned at Miranda from where he sat on another chair, carefully measuring out spices and mixing them in his bowl. "How spicy do you like your food?" he asked, his attention mostly on the bottles in front of him.

Cybil glanced back at them - it was a miracle she wasn't cutting her fingers - and said cheerfully, "I go really spicy, but if you like less we can work that too." Cooking seemed to do wonders for her mood.

((Yay! Good luck!))

Miranda blushed as she realized Cybil had heard her. "Sorry." She muttered. At Mark's question, she shook her head. "I don't mind a little bit of spice but I'm not a huge spicy fan." She smiled slightly. "I've always been more of a sweet than spicy person." She finished up the vegetables and glanced at Cybil. "Where do you want these put?"

((OOC: Papers done! Now just the finals!))

"Right," said Mark amicably. "I hope you'll be able to deal with this, then. It's pretty spicy, but it's got some sweet in it, too." He nodded at the spices, then glanced over at Cybil. "Cyb, you do have bread, right?"

"No," she answered, still focused on the chicken. "But that's okay. I've got the ingredients for flatbread. I'll just bake some."

Mark shook his head. "She'll just bake some bread," he muttered, looking amused. "If she doesn't have any."

Cybil pulled out a large silver pot, setting it on the tiny counter. She tossed her chicken shreds into it. "You guys done with the prep?" she asked. "I'm putting it in here in a minute or two." She set the now-thawed stock in a liquid measuring cup on the counter beside the pot. Then she set the pot on the stove, turned it on and went to wash her hands free of chicken bits.

((Yay! Congrats.))

"Well, I'm sure we'll find out if I can handle it." Miranda said with a small laugh. Hearing the bread debate, she couldn't help but chuckle. If nothing else, Cybil was at least resourceful.

At the blonde's question, Miranda brought over her cutting board full of vegetables. "I'm done. This should be enough, right?" She asked, putting it down on the counter for Cybil's inspection.

Elodie slept for most of the afternoon. She woke from a nightmare quickly forgotten and blamed it on the TV playing in the back ground. She rubbed at the goosebumps on her arms and looked up as she realized she heard and better yet - smelled stir fry inn the make.
Inhaling deeply she got up and decided to go brush her hair. She could look like something other than a couch zombie for a little while anyway.

Cybil examined the vegetables quickly and tilted her head a little. "Yeah, that should be good. Be best if they were a little smaller, but these will do fine." She took them - and the spices from Mark as well - and tossed them haphazardly into the pot with the now-cooked chicken. Liberally adding stock and chocolate sauce, she then set the whole mess on the stove and asked, "One of you two want to stir that? I need to make bread now, because Mark reminded me and now I want it."

Pulling out another pile of ingredients, she took a mixing bowl out of a dangerously tilted pile inside a cupboard and got to work on it, pausing only to go set the oven to heat.

Mark glanced at Miranda. "You want to stir, or do you want me to?" he asked.

"I'll stir." Miranda said, taking a spoon and stirring the mixture. She peered into the pot, then glanced at Cybil. "Did you seriously just put chocolate sauce in here? Really? Chocolate sauce?" She seemed torn between being horrified and being amused at what the blonde had done. She couldn't believe that chocolate sauce had just gone into what appeared to be a chicken soup thing.

Cybil looked over and flashed Miranda a quick, amused grin. It turned her from someone a little frightening into someone who looked worth knowing. "Trust me. You'll love it." Just to add to the disturbance, or so it seemed, she took a moment or two to go into the cupboard, pull out and shred up a chili pepper before tossing that into the pot, too. "Forgot it," she explained.

Then she washed her hands again and calmly went back to shaping her discs of flatbread. Mark sat on the far corner of the tiny kitchen counter, laughing at both of them.

Miranda's initial estimation of it as a 'chicken soup thing' was not too far off the mark - though it was thicker than any soup, it was definitely some kind of stew. As Cybil stuck the bread into the oven, she turned to peep into the pot. "Pretty good," she pronounced. "It'll probably be ready about the same time as the bread. Mark, you know where the dishes are. Can you pull some out? I think I have some stew bowls that I didn't let Miranda use for vegetable prep."

Going over and checking the oven, she asked, "Miranda, do your parents know you're here? And that you're staying for dinner?" She rolled her eyes. "I feel like a nag, but you know. The more used to you checking in they are, the faster they notice if something happens."

Miranda still looked doubtful at the whole chocolate sauce idea but it was too late to really do anything about it. The doubtful look was replaced by a worried one at the sight of the pepper. That did not bode well in her opinion.

She continued to stir the stew, for it was quickly apparent that it was thicker than soup. She sighed at Cybil's question then chuckled. "I left a note for them, saying I was heading to a friend's house and to not expect me back until late. They don't worry much anyways. As long as I give them some vague idea of where I am, they're fine. Well, basically as long as I return before bedtime. After that, I start getting in trouble for not checking in. But I still have a couple hours before that happens." She explained easily. Her parents were pretty easy going.

Cybil's lips twitched slightly. "All right. As long as you're sure no one's going to set the cops on me because you didn't come home for dinner," she replied, suspiciously bland-faced. "Okay, the bread looks close enough," she added as she glanced into the oven. It had only been about five minutes. Maybe ten, tops. "Pull that off the stove, will you? Just put it on the other side - on the cool burner. It'll stay warm, don't worry."

Mark set his newly-discovered bowls in a neat stack beside the stove, grinning at Cybil. "Landlord get mad about the burns on the counter again?"

Cybil rolled her eyes. "I tell him at least once a month that those came from the tenant before me, and ask to have them fixed. He's too cheap to fix them, but at least he could stop yelling at me about it."

Efficiently, she dipped a spoon into the stew and tasted it. "Good enough," she decided, tossing the spoon across the room. It fell into the sink with a loud clank. "Where did I leave the ladle?"

She wandered across the room and opened a few drawers. Drawing out the object of her explorations and coming back to the stewpot, she asked, "How much d'you want, Miranda?"
