Wow, interesting conundrum there. Well, you've gotten character sheets, inventory information, basic storyline, what's left?

Among the soldiers in line was a deceptively lean young man with long auburn hair tied back at the nape of his neck. Where most of the men were marching with the fatigued appearance of those who have walked through the jungle during the day his brow was yet untainted by sweat. Perhaps it was that he didn't wear armor or that his pack was filled mostly with writing implements. Or it could have been the glistening white wings which protruded from either side of his backpack. The wizard of the unit lay claim to celestial blood.
As Major Sampson greeted the column he raised his arm in a crisp salute. Or as close to one as he could, having only recently joined the military after his graduation. "Good to be here Sir. We'll show them a thing or two about how wars are fought. And won." When Major Sampson pointed to the sun he kept his gaze forward as he was taught in basic training. No point in looking at something you intend on seeing again as he figured it. falling in at the command Kavrus waited for the following orders.

[OOC: Do you think we should have a thread for OOC and IC? I'm taking this concept from some other RP forums I go to -- it'd be a lot cleaner for the RPing and we could do our dicerolls and OOC discussion there. Just a suggestion. Also, are we waiting for the other people to get their stuff together or what?]

((I was waiting for that, but it's looking hopeless... this first part will just have to be you two, I was hoping Anton would join in here but it looks a little different. I don't want to complicate things by making more then one thread, I have trouble keeping track of this thing when it get's page two'd. WhenI start my second campaign, I'll be in Shadows guild, and we'll have a more open forum that we can make many threads for different locations and soforth.))

(( Ugh, Im sorry. >< I should be able to keep up with it now I guess.))
Amari lined up with the rest of the men around him. He staired blankly at his surroundings, trying to imagine what the Major could have been thinking. How could have seeing this made his death worth it? Amari's face showed signs of annoyance as he thought about this, thinking that time was being wasted if their situation was as bad as the Major had said. Lost in thought, he completely forgot to return the salute.
((I should warn you guys... this will be my first time really RPing. I have played D&D enough to understand alot of the rules, but my friends arent much into RPing... so let me know of ways I could improve or something.))

Kavrus fell into step behind the others in the column without pausing. At the door to mess he took his bunking assignment from a soldier handing them out and found a table in the corner to set his pack at. Once his chair had been claimed and camp kitchen removed from his pack he took a place in line with a tray and his utensils. "Do they usually serve decent food here, or the stuff they fed us in basic?" he asked of a more seasoned soldier in front of him.

"They say we're getting the best stuff tonight. they think It'll all go to waste if we don't eat it now I guess." Came a low reply from the passerby. "It's the stuff they save for officers." He mentioned before getting in line himself.

Shrugging he turned to the first server. "I believe it's just a pass at boosting morale." he said with an upturned lip. "If things were that desparate they wouldn't have bothered sending reinforcements. Especially not green soldiers like me."

One more entered the mess hall. A cleric, probably one of the medical support. After claming a seat next to a window, he fell into line for food. Speaking to the person in front of him, He asks, "Doesn't look too lively out there, does it? I hope it doesn't decide to rain... Oh, I'm Nolan, by the way."

((Piss poor intro, sorry. Anyway, that will all for me today because they're closing the library. I might be on tomorrow, but the library closes at 3, so I won't be on long. I'll be more regular Mon-Thurs. Library closes at nine on those days. Well, at five on thurs., but oh well. Anyhoo, I look forward to a fruitful campaign.))

Jance, who had entered about the same time as Kavrus, extracted his plate and utensils from the bottom of his pack, and gotten in line himself, spoke up. "Even green soldiers have to learn what it is to fight -- and to die -- sometime. Nevertheless, it is true that they wouldn't send fresh soldiers to a place that was lost. Not unless, that is, they needed this fort, or something within this fort, very badly."
"Or perhaps the command has made an error and knew not of the armies which have evidentally cut us off. In any case, our orders remain." He smiled, "What those are is yet to be seen, but when they are we have the duty to fulfill them, even if it means our deaths. Our life is given to the corps when we are enlisted -- and they expect no less. We shall prove ourselves on the battlefield, or die, no matter what." The monk kept smiling, looking the other soldiers squarely in the eyes, as the "good" rations were schlopped onto his plate by the server.

"A very downcast way of thinking, I should think. It is best to prepare for the worst, however. One can never tell when we are to be tested by Pelor." Nolan remarked in response to Jance's statement. "Surely you can't believe that we were all sent here to die, simply because those in charge of this war didn't know where else to put us?"
