Tsuj, do you have a virtual memory cache enabled on your Mac? Or, are you running a lot of programs at a time? The compiler can't allocate enough memory in RAM or cache to compile FFMPEG for you. Try closing down some things or making sure you have enough cache space.

vm_allocate is supposed to create the virtual memory if there isn't enough there...
Anyway, I'm looking at this and 4272967680 seems way too big for what I'm doing, but I may be wrong... Let me kill Camino quick and I'll check to see what's what...
@Roland — Why, yes. Yes I am having video issues, just not directly... xd

Yeah, 4 gigs to compile ffmpeg is a bit much. Can't you just find a precompiled binary from Fink or something?
Edit: Actually, Tsuj, vm_allocate doesn't create virtual memory. It specifies a region of virtual memory that an application can utilise.

You are very much correct, Rol. .mpeg is a video extension. FFMPEG is a program used to create video files of various formats. :3

Sentama Lin Yeah, 4 gigs to compile ffmpeg is a bit much. Can't you just find a precompiled binary from Fink or something? Is it really 4 gigs? I thought that it ran in bits, not bytes... *checks* eek No wonder I'm having problems! Anyway, I could, but I need a specific revision of it to compile the new version of dsvideo... Which meant I got to learn about subversion today. biggrin Quote: Edit: Actually, Tsuj, vm_allocate doesn't create virtual memory. It specifies a region of virtual memory that an application can utilise. *re-reads documentation* Oh, it creates new pages if there isn't room on an existing one... sweatdrop

Hiya! I'm not really here; I'm mining for friggin' Easter Eggs... :XP But thought I needed to come in here and give some lovin' to the family... wink
@Tsuji: I find that zOMG is a huge memory sink when using Safari, and by quitting Safari, I can often reclaim a gig or two, and even more if I restart the whole 'puter. *shrug*
