I like corgi's too. However I prefer the Welsh Corgi's to the Pembroke Corgi's ((In short the ones with tails vs the one with stubs on their butts))

I like Welsh Corgis better too. They're a tad bit smaller than the Pembroke ones, I believe. Whatever. They're cute~

They actually are decedents of two different breeds of terrier, thus the differences of leg height, stoutness, fur colors and tails.
However they were both breed for the same purpose, herding. Sheep mostly. They are strong enough to jump up on the sheep back, but light enough to run across the whole herd without bothering or hurting the flock. Also their short stature makes them great, they can bite the ankles of the sheep and are low enough to the ground that if the sheep kicks the foot goes over their head, without them ducking!
Granted this ankle biting/herding instincts can cause problems in homes where they become board. Cats, children or guests can become "flocks". But both breeds are really cute. hehe
