▬▬▬"It'slikeatreasurehunt,inaway"▬▬▬
Jaelah came running onto the field, she had spent the better part of the morning jumping on Erikk's bed, trying to convince him to come to quidditch practice even though he couldn't play. Then, when Erikk had gotten annoyed at her (and his roommates were cursing him) Erikk had left the dorm, and Jaelah had followed thinking she had won... only to watch Erikk go outside, climb a tree, and go back to sleep. She frowned and stuck her tongue out at him, and then heard the clock chime for the hour...she was officially late for quidditch. "Tree boy I'll be back for you! You suck for giving up on quidditch."
She took off to the field, and heard Karah complaining. Jaelah threw her stuff down, jotted out her form, and took off running to catch up with the rest of the team."Hi Karah Hi Brianna! Nice to see you!"

Brianna Cathaline Quinn-Smith Slytherin │ Fifth Year │ Fifteen Years Old │ Single │ Slytherin Prefect │ Dueling Club Captain │ Quidditch Vice-Captain
“On the contrary, I think our chances are as good as anybody else’s this year, just a matter what sort of breaks we get and what we do with them,” said Brianna evenly; this was her first day on the job, she’d be darned if she was going to succumb to the pull of negativity. She understood Karah’s reservations, and they were justified, but on this day of days, this wasn’t the time to have them. “We’ve got a lot of opportunities here, though, and we’ll get better with time and experience. I’ve been working with Csuri over the summer to have her ready to play, and Kasamir played hockey at his old school, so he should be able to handle match-speed straight out of the box. Hopefully, we’ll have Yari, and with Aindrias we’ll have a complete squad. If more of the First Years I spoke to show up, maybe we can even have a couple Reserves.”
When the subject of Erikk and Aeden came up, Brianna’s tone got a bit more serious. “I don’t get this whole thing with Erikk and Aeden, we’ve got to be missing something here, the story doesn’t wash and it certainly put past our team’s fortunes… I get it, I’m your Plan B, but I plan to do my best to earn your trust. Right now, my plan is to see you and Yari raise a Quidditch Cup come June.”
Brianna had fully expected for Karah to select Erikk to be her second over her, and understood why; she hadn’t given the Seventh Year much in the way of proof that she had her head screwed on straight, and was capable of being her deputy, so she was surprised when she was tapped for the job. Karah’s reference to injuries was a sore point for her; some of her matches ended with her going to the Hospital Wing with some pretty gruesome injuries, and her being in particularly foul moods, with her ire focused upon their Beaters. Part of it was just ill fortune, part of it she knew was because of her hyper-aggressive approach to play, where she’d fly her tail off in her personal game-within-a-game of trying to match the offensive output of her older brother and her future sister-in-law. How much of that was at cost to the rest of the team, and how many of her injuries might have been avoided had she been paying closer attention to the game as a whole?
As Karah called to everybody to start getting ready, Brianna started her stretching exercises. “Sounds like its time for us to see what pieces we have to work with, eh?”

Brianna Cathaline Quinn-Smith Slytherin │ Sixth Year │ Sixteen Years Old │ Single │ Slytherin Prefect │ Dueling Club Captain │ Quidditch Captain
‘At least the weather’s cooperating,” thought Brianna, as she set up for her first outing as Captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team. The sun felt warm against her skin, as the cool Highland breeze wafted through her long blonde hair. ‘Good day to be up in the air. Damn, I wish I could talk to Ron right now, he’d know what to say.’ The Sixth Year was feeling nervous as she got her final preparations in place to start the 2061-2062 campaign for the Quidditch Cup, and she was hoping she was able to put up a better record than she did last year.
Admittedly, last year, it was asking a lot of Csuri to compete against three other Seekers who were Seventh Year Captains one and all, and yet she did. She was head-to-head with all of them, the great Artemisia Rosalie League, the enigmatic Syd Barrett and saintly Nora Dashwood included, its just the breaks didn’t go her way. There were two matches in particular where Csuri was so close to pulling out a win, and their season would have ended differently. Brianna made an effort to get Csuri to train over the summer at her place, as with all those veteran Seekers graduated, the balance of experience would likely shift towards the Snakes. Odds were even Slytherin could run the proverbial table this year and win the Cup for their House.
‘All I need to do today is assemble a new crew, pick a VC, and, no, Ronald ‘whoever needs it most’ isn’t a freakin’ answer, and we can work from there. We can figure this out, I know it,’ she told herself, after having set up the trunk with the balls, the barrel full of broomsticks, and her collapsible table with forms, self-inking quills, and a basket full of treats she’d asked the House Elves to make for the occasion and bottles of water. Drawing a deep breath, she thought, ‘What I wouldn’t give to have butterbeers with my big brother right now.’
Brianna pulled her buttery blonde hair back and used a green and silver scrunchy to create a business-like ponytail, and brushed down her Hunter green hoodie and black leggings, which had somehow acquired cat hair despite her having left Bubber at home, and stood up straight to present the image of what a Captain should be. ‘Okay, its showtime…’

After a garbage season last year, Csuri wasn't sure she wanted to continue on with quidditch. After all, she was pretty bad. But instead, Brianna (and her brother) had convinced her to try again. She'd be one of the best... apparently. She huffed a sigh and went to summer practices at Brianna's house, even if she thought it was going to be pointless.
Finally, it was time for tryouts. And maybe Brianna would know for sure who the other seekers were. If they were all first years, Csuri might stand a ghost of a chance. She grabbed her new broom and her gear, then headed up to the pitch. She squinted her silvery eyes at the sun, counting blessings that it'd at least be easier. "Hey Brianna. You ready for me to lose everything again?" Her words were sarcastic, but they held a bit of a sharpened edge. The younger girl tried to tie back her curls, but they fluffed right back out. She huffed a sigh, then just focused on filling out her application.

Hesperia had been looking forward to trying out for the Quidditch team since arriving at school, even before being sorted into Slytherin. She had to borrow a broom, of course, since first years were not allowed to have brooms yet. After gaining permission from her head of house, Hes prepared for her first trip down to the Quidditch pitch. The girl practically squealed as she walked down to the pitch, barely able to contain her excitement. As she stepped onto the pitch, she saw that she was among the first few to arrive. Hopefully that meant she would be able to make the main team. The younger of the two was remarking that they were going to lose again and that brought a small frown to the brunette's face. "I hope not," Hesperia remarked as she walked over to where the sign in sheet was, writing down her information, then she grinned and said, "Um, hey, I'm Hesperia and I'm ready to crush the tryout."

Kasamir Aloysius Patrovna Slytherin │ Second Year │ Twelve Years Old │ Single │ Beater
Kasamir was unsure about whether he liked playing Quidditch or not, not after the drubbing the House team took during last season’s stretch of losing efforts, but it was the only game in town, so he was willing to give it another go around. So far as he could determine, and from what others told him, he’d done about as good a job as could be expected of one with limited match experience, and their defeats were not on him, and for that he could take some solace. Playing for the House gave him an excuse to take Advanced Flying, and while he couldn’t experience the spray of the ice, he could fly, and that was cool.
Aunt Faina and Aunt Katya (he couldn’t bring himself to call her ‘Aunt Kitty’, it just didn’t feel right) treated the twelve-year-old Russian to trip to Diagon Alley over the summer, and aside from gathering books and necessary supplies for the coming school year, he got his very own broomstick. This was a prize he was told was something denied them when they were his age. Kasamir lucked into finding a local rec center featuring a batting practice cage for cricket players, so he could work on his hitting technique. They also had curling lanes and a skating rink, which he made copious use of during the summer.
For tryouts today, he was wearing a Russian Federation hockey jersey, his Quidditch pads strapped on underneath to bulk out his thin frame. He also wore a gray Thinsulate shirt for warmth, a pair of black trousers and a pair of trainers were on his feet. Slung over his shoulder was the bag for his Quidditch gear and other sundries, and the case containing his new broomstick which he took care to have polished with a fresh coat of linseed oil and ready for flight.
Arriving at the pitch, he saw a younger girl in black sweatpants and a gray hoodie was there, filling out a form with Csuri and their newly minted Captain. He arched an eyebrow at Csuri’s comment, though he chose to stay silent; with an attitude like that they were already doomed to failure, but he wasn’t planning to start tryouts by getting into it with her. “Morning, Keptin. I’m ready to go when you are.”

Honestly he was just stoked he'd been able to play last year so hopefully he can keep that up. For his birthday last year he'd been surprised with a certificate to the quidditch shop in Diagon and during the summer he'd exploited it mercilessly. New gloves, some polish for his bat, and the rest saved for a later purchase. It'd been allot of money but still not enough for a decent broom and he was willing to save what he found for that. So for now, he was still on a borrowed school broom but with some much needed upgraded equipment. It evened out somewhere he supposed. When he got to where the team was assorted, Afon nodded his greetings to those he was familiar with before heading to fill out his application. Wasn't much to do now then than wait.

Vikram was running late which was unlike him, but that was because he had decided to do a little exploring before practice and had gotten lost in the dungeons again. At least he'd brought his gear with him so he didn't need to run to the common room before heading down to the pitch. "I'm here! I'm here," he called out, trotting down to the pitch a little out of breath. He carefully set his broom down, not wanting to damage his very expensive and very vital tool, then picked up the sign in sheet in order to fill that out. After finishing with the form, Vik got into prepping for the tryout, stretching out. He tossed a look over at last year's Seeker and smirked. "Looking as cheerful as always, huh Csuri?!" Vik chuckled at his jab, then set about stretching his hammies.

Vesna had gotten up early and had gotten ready for tryouts, ensuring that she’d make it on time — or so she thought. Time had snuck away from her while she was out on the grounds, digging in dirt and collecting herbs. It wasn’t until Odin located her and cawed loudly, ushering her to the Quidditch pitch. Shoot - is it time already? she wondered, looking up at the sky to observe the sun’s position. Dropping the herbs into the dirt hole, she wiped off her hands and knees, and scurried to the pitch. “Hi, sorry I’m late!” she apologized before filling out a form.

Savi had been extremely nervous about going off to school. He had never left home before and not to mention all the people. He wasn’t a fan of socializing so heading to a train station with dozens of people was a bit off putting. Couple that with the fear of where he’d be sorted and Savi knowing he had to go on a very full train, it was not a recipe for success. The young boy took it in stride though. Keeping to himself for most of the day before following the other first years down to the lake and making the trip to the Great Hall for sorting.
The young snake was happy to have been sorted into Slytherin, relieving him of any anxiety he might have had about his placement. Perhaps it helped to remain confident as humanly possible, all while focusing solely on the house he wanted. Granted some might say that had nothing to do with it. Savi continued to keep to himself as the week went on. He wanted to get involved in Quidditch and even a few clubs, he just needed to push past the amount of people that would be present.
Savino woke up the day of tryouts confident he could prove himself to the team. Though, he was new to the school, Savi knew the game of Quidditch. After all he’d been staring at books regarding it the moment the flyer was posted on the common room bulletin board. Walking down to the pitch, Savi wondered just how many people would be involved. Arriving the young boy noticed a fair number of people, not as many as he thought surprisingly. Savi figured Quidditch was pretty popular, it wasn’t like Slytherin was known for having bookworms or non-sporty people in general. Heading over to the group, Savi grabbed a registration form, filling it in, he returned the form and then waited for tryouts to start. Hopefully it would start soon he hated having to wait around.

And Here’s Your Slytherin Quidditch Team for the 2061-2062 Season
Brianna Cathaline Quinn-Smith Slytherin │ Seventh Year │ Seventeen Years Old │ Single │ Slytherin Prefect │ Dueling Club Captain │ Quidditch Captain
‘Couldn’t ask for a nicer day,’ thought Brianna as the sun felt pleasantly warm against her skin, and drew a deep lungful of cool Highland air. Today would mark the start of her final campaign playing Quidditch for Slytherin, and she was pleased to see the weather cooperating. Last year went exceedingly well for her crew, and she was hoping they could carry the momentum of that undefeated season into this one. Brianna couldn’t help but think of the dynasty years when such luminaries as Kenneth Blake, Ashley Yaxley and Evander Lillantine flew for the Snakes, when Mom was playing against them and always coming up short. ‘Its probably a bit presumptive of me to think of such things, but I would love to have played a part in such a thing.’
Over the summer, when Brianna was staying with the Quinns, she and Csuri had the chance to take in a number of Holyhead matches, and the Quidditch captain availed herself the oppourtunity to not only get in practice and pointers that she could carry into her final season at Hogwarts, but she made contacts of her own. With a little bit of luck she might be flying for Holyhead post-graduation, launching a career course separate from the thoughts and manipulations of others in her family. She’d learned a lot leading her crew through last year, and it was her plan to make certain Csuri, her chosen successor, had as good a start next year, as they hopefully would this time out.
Having a successful year under her belt did much for Brianna’s confidence, as she set up the trunk with the balls, the barrel full of broomsticks, and her collapsible table with forms, self-inking quills, and a basket full of treats she’d asked the House Elves to make for the occasion and bottles of water. She hoped for a good turnout this year, and maybe even score some Reserve members to ensure they could take some hits and keep going. With her long buttery blonde hair pulled through a green and silver scrunchy to create a no-nonsense ponytail, and wearing her hunter-green hoodie and black leggings, she presented the look of a Quidditch captain. ‘One more shot at the Cup, that’s all I ask for….’

Csuri stepped onto the pitch, a frown on her face as usual. Sure, Slytherin had dominated last year (in part thanks to her), but she was ever a pessimist. All four teams had captains graduating this year, so all four would be vying for the cup way harder than usual. The only one outside thus far was Brianna, so Csuri walked over, her broom slung over her shoulder. It was a little frustrating that brooms seemed to be replaced by the "latest and greatest" every few months, making it a nightmare to keep up. She had a budget to uphold, after all!
Her curls danced a bit in the breeze as she walked over toward the blonde, a comfy quidditch tee-shirt paired with her usual tennis-skort. Short boots completed the ensemble for the rather annoyed looking girl, but it was just her usual attire. "Morning, Bri. Ready to... do captain stuff, I guess?" Csuri didn't want to admit it, but the thought of running the team without the older blonde next year scared the heck out of her. It certainly didn't help that it seemed most of the Slytherins didn't particularly like her. She bit the inside of her lip, silvery eyes glancing off into the distance as she pondered.
