Rio
When he felt Alya's hand on the back of his robe, Rio turned his head to offer her a smile and a little wink. He totally had this! Nothing to worry about!
But all of his concern was for naught, apparently, as the green who at first had seemed as thought she might be temperamental proceeded to...not really do any damage to anyone, just shoved here and there and scared some poor soul into cowering against their friend, and wrestled with her sister. As the likelihood of danger faded, he relaxed, although he did keep his place just a bit forward. There were quite a few more eggs to hatch yet, after all! Turned out, though that the one everyone had initially thought was gold, was...not. It was actually a rather vibrant bronze, who apparently had quite the opinion of himself.
Rio smiled and shook his head, and almost said something, but then the egg that had been struggling so set itself to rolling towards the sea. So instead of commenting on the strutting bronze, he simply said, "Oh, dear."
((playing catch-up because I left him behind. orz))

Midais - Western Candidate
Midais gave the most apologetic smile he could muster to the other man. It was really his own fault for not being able to control his sweating and not wanting to force the other man to deal with it.
“Maybe you will get lucky and impress a bronze, never know. I don't really have a particular color favorite, like you said it's more about personality and finding someone who is more of your best friend.” Animals really had always been his best sort of friends, he had spent a great deal of time when he lived at home taking care of the beast around the farm.
It wasn't long before the eggs started to hatch, the first one being a rather eager green who excitedly made her way around the candidates. The words “awww" and “cute" came to Midais’s mind as he watched her bound around. Soon others started to appear, a bronze who almost looked like a gold.
“Ooo maybe this is your chance.” Midais looked back over to Elyk giving him a hopeful smile. Only to catch the ducky looking egg rolling towards the water, and much like a few of the others he twitched, moving forward only stopping from colliding into someone else. Someone had to help!
------- Cabhan - High Reaches Candidate
The eggs started to slowly hatch as the green eyes looked on with some semblance of hope. The first was a green and despite her adorableness it was not what the candidate was hoping for. The next almost looked as if it was a gold, sending the rippling noises of shock throughout the watching crowd. After a a few more minutes the gold shook off his shell showing that instead it was a lovely bronze.
Cabhan could feel his chest tightening as he held his breath, it was exactly his imagined a bronze dragnet to be. Proud, and rather in charge as he made away across the warm sand.
-----
Sa’do and the bronze Rynsaith Sa’do was a little thrown off as he was swept up by Soui the box leaving his hands and being put away to be fetched by someone later. Even more so someone new appeared who seemed to know the younger woman even more as she beamed with excitement with the hatching that was starting. He gave a nod about the sun block and ointment before the noises of the crowd began to grow louder.
From what he could gather from the voices an egg had hatched and making its way around the candidates in the most curious manner. He couldn't help but look toward the direction of the beach as he wondered how Elyk was doing with his first time being a candidate. Was he nervous? He hadn't even looked at how many eggs versus candidates their were and even more so if there was even less of a chance of him impressing. It couldn't be as bad as it was for him, he had almost aged out before meeting Rynsaith.
The younger healer scrambled to get a better view on top of the bronze dragon that had arrived as Sa’do started to squeeze his way through the crowd his breath on edge.

Susurinth watched as the boy, wisely, turned back and headed over to the rest of the crowd. Her eyes immediately changed back to their cheery blue-green, and she settled back to watch. She did pause to nose the little blue who was snuggle close to her feet, but otherwise let him alone. No need to rush, baby. Take your time. They came to see you.
Ah! but... wait. BABY ON THE LOOSE!!
Giving an alarmed bugle, the queen immediately swung her tail around. If anyone had been standing behind her, they were sure to get smacked, but she wasn't going to lose her runaway baby, even if a few heads had to roll!
Thankfully, her tail was able to stop the egg, and help crack it further. Gently, tenderly, she was quick to reach out a wing to try to scoop it back towards the Candidates. Susurinth wasn't that unobservant!
No swimming. Not today.
----
The Yellow Blue felt better now that the Stranger had been shooed away. Still, he sat quietly by his mother, his tail wrapped loosely about her forearm -- or at least as much of it as he could manage. Once again, he looked back at the crowd, unsure if he wanted to brave them or not.
...but when his mother made a start and a roar, the baby blue gave a startled creel and jumped forward, crashing into Pale Pink & White Egg, and the still madly shaking Indigo & Yellow egg. Though the Pale Pink & White egg now had some dimples and cracking appearing, the other egg seemed rather unharmed. Still shaking madly, yes, but unharmed.
The blue dragonet gave a soft, anxious creel, before setting orange-yellow eyes on the Candidates. He tried to find a way around them that didn't involved going through them, but it seemed impossible.
---
The Pink Striped Green watched as her sister left her to pick out some boy. Well, that boy must be the second best individual on the Sands! Not right for her, of course, but if her beloved sister thought him perfect, then so be it. Looking back at the Candidates, she wondered if she was forgotten.
Well, it was time to find hers. Someone here had to be suitable, hadn't they? Too ugly. Too lame. Too weak. Not right. Really not right. Gold chaser. Bronze chaser. Don't look so desperate. Does your mother know what you do...? Tsk, tsk. As the green passed the Candidates, she made sure to speak her mind. Honestly, this entire affair was odious.
She wanted to move, she wanted to play, she wanted to find hers.
---
The Green Zig-Zag Bronze picked his way among the Candidates. He didn't bother to give the girls a second look. Instead, he would pause to peer at each of the boys. First, he approached Marinel, to give him a good sniff and snort. Hmmm.

Farellen laughed when the 'gold' hatchling turned out to be a very brightly coloured Bronze instead, ah he hoped the shiny fellow got someone who deserve him, that was for sure. He eyed the poor shy blue, feeling for him, well.. as much as a confident, outgoing young man could. One green down, Impressed to one of the boys, that was fine, you didn't get to choose the colour of your dragon's hide, they chose you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bekah let out an "oh" of surprise when the Gold actually showed itself to be a Bronze, well still a Bronze was good, he was rather very pretty though, She shook her head, moving her gaze to the candidates as the green Impressed, barely supressing an excited shout as she saw her boyfriend out on the Sands, then she felt terrible for not realising he'd been there sooner, She wondered if he'd look her way so she could give him a little wave but no, she should let him get on with trying to Impress. She tried to get about her business but now had a distraction to work with, she couldn't help hope that Tassiel would Impress this time, he deserved it in her mind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rokar yawned, the heat was making him tired, his feet hurt and he could feel his skin starting to burn, his skin not being as tough anymore as it used to be when he lived at home, or on the boats... NO.... "NO!" he said to himself loudly, shaking thoughts of home away but startling himself, he hadn't meant to say that out loud, certainly not THAT loud, he felt instantly guilty because that shy blue would have reacted badly if he'd been close to Rokar. He wasnt fully surprised that the 'gold' actually turned out to be a Bronze, his mother was odd enough to clutch on a beach, so why not a Bronze who looked very like a Gold in the right (or wrong) lighting. He mentally shrugged and eyed the egg that had rolled away, Sheesh this clutch ... every bit was odd and ... wrong ... well not wrong but ... not right, not in the Weyr ... not ordered and uniformed, he didn't know what to expect out here.
