I Need Some Firestone!
As the pair emerged from between R'bin became aware of a distinct lack of weight pressing against his leg. It wasn't something he could have noticed between, where he could not even feel the bulk of dragon beneath him, but back in regular space it was apparent that their just-filled bag of firestone had somehow detached and was probably falling forever between. He spared half a second for wondering whether things dropped while between might one day clonk into someone else who was moving through the not-space.
Huarangith caught the tail end of his speculation and asked, Probably not. Why?
Our firestone's gone, R'bin replied. Sensing Huarangith's disbelief, he clarified: You haven't gone through it all. The bag's just gone. I must not have secured it properly. I'm sorry.
If Huarangith was irritated, he did not show it. He simply called out a request for more firestone and hoped that it would come soon. He did not like being surrounded by Thread and unable to flame.
All that practice and hard work pays off. You manage to get the firestone up there successfully, and avoid blowing into any strands of Thread. Your toss is a bit shaky, but it lands its mark just fine. Good job!
Missed us already? Nua and Sobeth were still on it, at least. While the winds were perhaps harder than her injured wing would have liked, the throw of yet more firestone was true and the two again waved before she dropped back between.

Flirting? R'bin teased the brown.
Huarangith refused to rise to the bait. Instead he scanned the skies for more Thread to flame, now that he had firestone once more. He did take a few seconds to glance backward at R'bin and ask, This time the bag's definitely secure, yes?
Here's hoping, R'bin replied, testing the knot he'd tied and thinking that perhaps he ought to invest in one of those carabiner devices he'd seen a few other riders using to clip their firestone to their saddles. They were supposed to be faster and more secure than knotting by hand.
When Huarangith was satisfied that R'bin was doing his part of the job correctly he turned back to watching the sky, just in time to catch a flicker of silver along his peripheral vision, heading toward them. He angled his head to flame, but there was no time to move his entire body out of the way. At least, that was what he thought until he failed to feel the burning sting of Thread making contact with his hide. Before he could congratulate himself on his surprising moment of agility, he heard R'bin grunt in pain.
The Thread that Huarangith had evaded had instead flown through the gap between the dragon's neck and wings, slipping across R'bin's side and burning through his wherhide jacket to his skin. He barely remembered not to clap his hand to the painful spot, and instead guided Huarangith between to kill the Thread's progress.
You manage to fly up there with little trouble! In fact, the throw goes relatively smoothly, and the rider catches the stone with ease and little trouble. Good job! You can go back to the weyrlings with pride.
W'res was another familiar face to fly with when Sobeth was feeling better. The green reached out to Enioth with some familiarity: For you! she bid, waiting until she was certain both man and dragon were ready for them before Nua tossed the stone over.

Thank you! Enoith told the retreating green and relaxed into the act of fighting thread. Relaxed a little too much and got blown out of formation. It was simply so startling. He squawked as he fought to get back into place.

You check in on your dragon to ensure they're doing all right. Thankfully, your dragon responds that they're feeling fine. All that training and practicing is coming full circle, as your dragon isn't feeling particularly fatigued. If your dragon isn't suffering, you are allowed to quote a fellow wingmate (must be in your same wing) who is suffering the effect! Your dragon trumpets at them encouragingly, making them feel better, and giving them a renewed burst of energy and effort. Remove Fatigue Effect from one wingmate!

Between watching after wingmates and the wind patterns, the way that thread was falling, the pair of them had managed to miss a sneaky clump that fell like a blanket over Diesteth's hind quarters. His hips burned and seared a bit as the blue hissed Between to remove it before any scars could form.

Almost irritated in himself for getting hit not once but twice in a row, Diesteth snorted and burst forth from Between upon arrival, twisting between three large clumps and scorching them to barely any ash at all with his irritation.

Right on time, Nicara's hand met with the bottom of the fire stone bag. There was one stone left, letting her toss it to her blue's delicate head as she requested more. It wouldn't do to be completely out of it when they needed it most.

He had tried to dive for a clump of thread, despite his tongue aching in pain. That had been a mistake, possibly he was distracted, maybe he was just foolish to rush forward towards thread as he usually might have. Either way he could feel it wrapping around him rather than burning up as he couldn't catch it. But what stilled him more than that was Nicara's yelp of pain, a noise she rarely ever made as the woman didn't often even scream when taking a direct hit. No... he tilted his head and could see it wrapping dangerously around her leg.
Instantly he hopped Between, knowing full well that they would need the healers immediately if she were going to keep that leg.
