I just spent the last HOUR trying to watch the Opening Ceremonies from the Olympics. =/
I can't watch it on NBC because I'm geoblocked. That leaves CTV, but to watch it on their site, you need the latest version of Silverlight. Well, lucky me, I can't RUN Silverlight because I have Linux, and the Linux equivalent (Moonlight) is not up-to-date enough for me to use it. =/ There is an alpha release of a more up-to-date version, but it crashes my browser.
I even tried some less-than-official streaming sites, but they buffer every other second and I can't skip ahead or pause.
Should NOT be this complicated!

I finally got to watch the NBC coverage of the opening.
I so LOVED how the commentators completely effed up the details of one of the performances. They introduced it as an performance about Quebec, and it had next to nothing to do with Quebec culture.
"Newfoundland tapdancing"? Uh, no. It was a mixture of Acadian step-dancing from New Brunswick and Cape Breton, Irish step from Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, Scottish highland dancing from Nova Scotia, and what looked like some kind of clogging.

It's bad enough that the rest of my country forgets that my region even exists, but if you're doing a performance dedicated to our culture, you MIGHT want to know the names of the places you're supposedly inspired by...

I stayed up late tonight to wait to talk to Dai after he got done with this acting competition thing he's doing, and now I'm exhausted. x_X I'm supposed to work early tomorrow morning, so I am actually heading to bed.
