I... didn't remember he'd worked on The Fox and the Hound. Interesting. Knew he was on The Black Cauldron. Or Taryn and the Magic Cauldron, or whatever they were trying to make it even vaguely marketable by. wink
Anyway, time for me to go to bed. 'Night! ^_^

"Every scar is a lesson...
The Fox and the Hound was my favorite movie when I was little, I watched it almost daily. I shat bricks a little bit ago when I found out it was a Tim Burton flick. Anyway, G'night aretoo

Tim Burton had nothing to do with Coraline... neutral
And he was only an animator on Fox and the Found. No one terribly important.

Really? I thought he was co-producer or something... I knew it wasn't him alone working on it, but I thought he at least was involved in the production of it. confused

On Fox and the Hound? IMDB only lists him as an uncredited animator: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082406/fullcredits#writers
And he didn't do squat on Coraline.

How odd. Coraline reminds me of Tim Burton's animatios, for some reason... Then again, so does this guy and these guys from Zelda: Twilight Princess. Anyway, I'm gonna wander off and watch one of these movies. Later!

Coraline was directed by Henry Selick. Selick also directed The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach (another one Burton didn't have anything to do with).
So what you're thinking of as Burton's style, is actually Selick's... sweatdrop
I think the only animation Burton directed and had an active role in was The Corpse Bride. Even with NBC, he only wrote the poem the movie was based on and produced it. He had nothing to do with the screenplay or direction. Selick said he never even really checked in on the making of the movie and how things were coming along since he was occupied with Batman at the time.
I kinda feel sorry for Selick...so few seem to be aware of his existence....

Very true. Henry Selick, who directed The Nightmare Before Christmas, which Tim Burton wrote and designed, was the director, it was based on a book by Neil Gaiman (who is all kinds of awesomeness), and was produced by Laika Studios, formerly Will Vinton studios out of (whadda ya know) Portland, Oregon.
Oh, and HI, EV'RYBODY! (waving Dr. Nik style)

Your post confuses me aretoo...o.O
You mean Coraline, yeah? That's the one Gaiman wrote.
When I went to SIGGRAPH back when I was in school there was a Laika booth with a Coraline set-up before the movie came out. They passed out shirts, so I have a Laika shirt!
Laika also animated this awesome music video for TMBG... heart

Ah, understandable; you and Rol had a couple posts between the one I was responding to, and the one that I posted. wink
And I'm jealous; I live near them, and *I* don't have a Laika t-shirt! xd
EDIT: Oh, Coraline (the movie, at least) was set in Ashland, Oregon, home of the Shakespeare Festival (a couple little nods in the movie), and the lead animator is the son of Phil Knight, the guy who created Nike
