I like encouraging participation, and by god, I'll bribe and cajole where necessary.
Regarding hats, I think the best kinds would be like semi-invisible kinds. Like trucker hats. The nice, classy part is all invisible, so all you see is the ugly. Ingenious, really.

I wear ball caps sometimes, mostly to hide a bad hair day.
And I think you could pull off a trucker hat. x3
OMG. I should totally get a red beret. Just so I could say I have one.
And then I can pull on a striped shirt and skinny jeans and go sit down by the boardwalk and pretend to smoke and comment about existentialism in French. It could be like a new sport...
