argorn405 well to tell you the truth no one really knows exept the people who died and i don't think you get renincarnated because then we would have our memorys or some one could leave a note about them so where ever we go we can't come back you know, there are many people who claim to remember previous lives. and a lot of em are children as young as the age of 5. there is a book called "Old Souls" by Tom Shroder on studies done on such children, their families, and the families the children claim to have been part of before they were born into this life. it's very fascinating. you should check it out. and as far as memory is concerned, what if it's like dreaming... what if the memories of a previous life is supposed to fade like dreams tend to do upon waking. perhaps some people remember fragments of a past life in the same way some people remember their dreams? we dream all night long once we reach the depth of sleep allowing for dreaming (REM sleep), but we only seem to remember the dreams we have right upon waking. what if reincarnation is like that? what if the further back in the past your previous life was, the less likely you are to remember it?

you don't have to pay taxes.
but on a serious note, either reincarnation or heaven I haven't decided yet. Actually I'll just wait to find out, who wants to read the end of the book while your still reading the beginning. [/cliche metaphor]

[/cliche metaphor] heaven is different things to different people. what is 'heaven' to you? if it's the christian version, I wonder what makes that more valid than say the native american afterlife, or the Norse afterlife, or muslim, or buddhist, etc?

And what if all of these are one and the same, with different traditions and culture projected on top of them? that's an excelent question. they very well could be. or, it could be that, whatever you deeply and truly believe is what happens to you. or, it could be that all those versions of 'heaven' are merely our different cultural perceptions and what is underneath is the same for everyone regardless. but we dont know and cant know what's underneath if that is so. this is actually the take I have on the gods. we clothe the gods in our own image and likeness in order to better understand life and the natural world. but they are only masks and those masks differ from culture to culture. we place these masks on the gods because there is no way we could comprehend what is underneath. the true limitlessness of the divine is beyond our limited human understanding.

It is said that "Death teaches us how to live". If we really knew what would happen to us after we died, then that would affect more than just religion, but also the way we live the rest of our life smile

CJmania It is said that "Death teaches us how to live". If we really knew what would happen to us after we died, then that would affect more than just religion, but also the way we live the rest of our life smile I think the fact that we do and will die (no matter what happens afterwards) should keep us conscious of how we're living. especially if this truly is all we get, I will want to live my life to it's fullest and bring happiness and compassion to others that are here with me to help them experience their lives in kind. bring some goodness to the world while I'm temporarily in it.

Well , in my opinion is when someone dies, they're souls will be brought down to the deepest core of the earth. Then, they will be given rest or a punishment. An ever-lasting punishment. After a few millenniums the souls will be reincarnated for their final judgment.
Sorry. I'm too caught up with my religion. . . They pushed this into my brain.

Sorry. I'm too caught up with my religion. . . They pushed this into my brain. only say sorry if you truly feel sorry. and then in this case, we are the wrong ones to say sorry to. you owe it to yourself to question your beliefs. especially if the only reason you believe as you do is because others told you what you should believe. I could never do that.
