Hints * There were a couple of songs in the 90s called "In the Meantime." This band made one of 'em. * One of Courtney Love's highest-charting singles. * Ian Brown of the Stone Roses earned a distinctive nickname due to his peculiar style of dancing. * A dude with twin Mohawks brought electronic music to the mainstream with this track. * This track is the most annoying hit by one of Ireland's most annoying pop-rock groups. * When you STOP, it means one of two things: either collaborate and listen or something else. * One last hint: these items have nothing to do with music.
1. Google search of ["In the Meantime" lyrics] gave me several bands/musical groups who have made a song called "In the Meantime". I found only two that had this song in the '90s: Spacehog and Helmet. So, one of the new MCs could be a helmet, or have something to do with pigs or space. Super Edit of Goodness: Apparently another band, Phantom Planet or something (something with Planet in the name) did a song of that title in the '90s, too. Signs point towards space-related items (along with the "King Monkey" clue - they sent monkeys into space when the space program was still young, and the first monkey in space was named Albert II; according to Wikipedia, there have been two kings named Albert II; kind of a stretch, but I'm going with it for now ^.^).
2. A trip to the Billboard Music Charts site revealed two singles for Courteney Love that were on the charts - "Mono" and "Hold Onto Me". So I'm guessing that one of the items could be something we hold.
3. Google search for ["ian brown" nickname] turned up King Monkey or Monkey King as a nickname. This clue would point to either monkeys or king-related things...a crown, perhaps?
4. Yahoo Answers says that the guy is Keith Flint from Prodigy, and the track is probably Firestarter.
5. This one's difficult because "annoying" is in the senses of the beholder. This site has a list of Irish musical groups, and I'm going through it now trying to remember anything about what I was listening to back in the '90s xD (fortunately, I was still into pop music back then, so hopefully that'll help)
6. Acronym Dictionary turned up nothing much for STOP - or, at least nothing that would seem to match the other clues. Google search for [stop collaborate and listen] turned up Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby". The hint says it means either "collaborate and listen" or something else; I'm guessing the "something else" means that it's not related to Vanilla Ice. Three things that popped into my mind are: ~Stop = "freeze!"; an earlier clue points to fire, so maybe an elemental item? ~opposite of ice is fire; an earlier clue points to fire ~"STOP - Hammer time!"
EDIT: Going through the Irish site along with Youtube and Billboard's site, I've found the following song that I remember the radio playing over and over and over again when I was younger: Cranberries - "Dreams"
