What do you name your characters?

Years ago I would use a default name (ie: Ash for Pokémon), but if given the choice, I would use "Sonic."

Now I use Dornkus.

The only character I've ever wanted to change names with was in Final Fantasy 7... For Red XIII, I cut off the number to leave 'Red'... other than that, default names biggrin

When I am thinking of a name for my characters I usually do all of the following:

1. Pick the character's personality. (EX. Is he/she smart? Do they have any special abilities?)

2. Think of a letter to start the character's name out with. (EX. Usually I like to keep the first letter of my character's balanced, so I don't have more A's or F's than anything else)

3. Then I put the words that describe my character and mix it into the name. (EX. Demoro, for example. Demon+Moron. Demoro!) ^_^

hm i always name the first charecter griever because that was my favorite final boss.

I leave final fantasy character names alone but other names I usually go with Skrog or Kira...

Normal console games, I tend to leave the default name alone.
For everything else, I use Jinji whenever possible, but also names I've read in books, or variations thereof.

Either the most generic names I know or I Say. Just try I Say in a word-heavy game that usually addresses the main guy/girl in conversations.

If they have a cool default name then they get to keep it. Other wise I think of a cool word and use that.

I usually go with default names, but do play Zelda games with Link named Sapphire. I have been known to use Fox too though.

If the name is that of my own character and not a random character in my group I.E. in the Final Fantasy games then I would usually name them either Sole or SoA. I don't name party members unless necessary and not with any substantial and recurring name.

If they have default names I keep them, they're kinda there for a reason, yknow. lol

However, anything else they usually end up named either Nostrus or Zephyte (Or whatever my current RPC is.)
