The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Markus growled under his breath as he saw the king jerking Akila around. He'd fallen for her years ago and had only just gathered up the courage and started to talk to her when everything went to hell. He refused to leave her to the king, hating to see her treated like that. He turned away sharply, unable to bear the sight. With a snap, he unfurled his wings and took to the sky. He floated lazily on the thermals, trailing the carriage from high in the air. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"There will be a problem hearing, and gathering of the gifts tomorrow at the palace." He made well known, and after all the rounds were done, the Carriage headed back towards the castle. Clorogne stared at Akila, and she sat across from him, squished into a corner and made sure no more of the good left. Only once they pulled up did he order her to step out and give the goods to another slave. Once out of the carriage, he took her by her sensitive ear, and tugged her inside as she whimpered. The Palace was a mess of life, now, all scattering to do the King's will. Just how he wanted it.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Aleera was already back at the castle. She was nestled comfortably in her dark quarters, enjoying the peace in comparison to the rest of the castle. She knew that if the King wanted her, either he or Akila would come for her. She allowed no one else into her room, saying it disturbed the peace she needed for her meditation. She just didn't want to risk anyone finding out anything about her. She liked to keep her mysteriousness.
As they arrived at the castle, Markus swerved away before he was in range of the archers. He knew very well that they were dangerous. One arrow in the wing was more than enough. He settled on a rooftop not too far away, staring at the castle as he planned. He needed to hurt the king, eventually killing him or banishing him, without hurting little Akila. That was were the trick lie. He couldn't risk hurting the girl. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"Make me dinner." Clorogne ordered going out to his balcony and Akila nodded, "Yes master." She was already in deep enough for what happened at the market. Anything more and he'd be sure to tear her ear right off! She stood as he unclipped her from the leash once more, and scurried to get out of the room, going to the kitchens to cook. Clorogne sighed, "How am I supposed to get anything accomplished if that stupid girl keeps messing up? Like this charade isn't hard enough." which was a lie, because it was just too easy. He called in a guard, "Surround the castle grounds, and remember to check at dawn to make sure no peasants are out." The guard captain nodded and left.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Aleera rubbed her temples. Sometimes she felt strained, trying to keep up her double life. But there was nothing else to do unless she wanted to roll over and give in to the king. And she was not about to do that. Slipping out of her rooms, she assumed the form of a small black cat and skittered through the hallways. No one every noticed the little cat. And even if they did, it wasn't unusual for a caste to have rat-catchers. She wandered the hallways, listening. Eventually, the smells of the kitchen drew her towards them. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Akila cooked slowly, dragging out her time away from the king as much as possible. She hummed lightly to herself, eyes downcast as she stirred chunked potatoes which she would mash once they were done. The smells and sounds of the kitchen comforted her, so she felt no need to trully be frightened there. The king wouldn't be caught dead in the kitchen, anyway. He had slaved for that. As the potatoes boiled she looked over the wines, grabbing the oldest dry wine, she could, and just took the whole bottle, setting it on his tray.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Aleera snuck into the kitchen, looking around. Seeing just Akila, she relaxed. The girl wouldn't hurt her, she figured. Seeing the wine, she decided to stick close to the girl. Maybe wine would loosen the King's tongue and she would be able to pick up an interesting tidbit. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Akila put in a steak...which would take a little to cook and leant with her head against the wall. Looking down she saw the cat and smiled a little, reaching down to pet the black cat's head and neck. She loved cats....mostly because she was a neko, but also because the sleek grace they each had, and beauty. "Tough day, hm Kitty?" she smoothed back the cat's fur and stood again, slowly, cracking her back. "A long day that's not quite over yet." only an hour or two more and she could go to sleep, and be away from that monster.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Aleera mewed softly. She had nothing but respect for the girl. Akila managed to be in the King's presence day after day, without going crazy or killing herself. She could only imagine the strength that took. She purred soothingly and twined around the girl's legs. It wasn't much, but she knew that sometimes the little things meant the most. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Akila smiled down at the cat and bit her bottom lip when she heard her name called in the hallway. She sighed largely, "Be right back, kitty." she ran out to the hallway, "yes...master?" "Where is my food?!" He growled, "Cooking sir...master, it won't be long, now." "Well, get a move on!" He shoved her back into the kitchen, slamming the door as she landed on her butt with an 'oof'. As she pulled herself up, she murmured, "One day that thing will get what's coming to him...Just wait another day..." that was what she looked forward to each day. seeing if someone would kill him. So far, it wasn't working.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Aleera hissed quietly as Akila was shoved around. She made a snap decision, one she knew could make all the difference in Markus' plans. It was the girl's last words that made up her mind. By the time Akila turned around, Aleera was standing by the stove, in her "true" form. "Interesting wish you have there." She murmured softly, glancing at the girl with guarded eyes. Oh, Markus was going to kill her for acting on her own. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Akila jumped in surprise, nearly hitting the ceiling, and squeaked, covering her own mouth and looked to the door to make sure his-royal-painliness wasn't coming, "Holy hell, Aleera, you scared me!" she whispered, eye-ing the door one more time before deciding it was safe, and shook her head, "y-yeah..." She knew the other from her bringing messages back and forth. The King valued her, so she was never hurt or anything....she hoped the other girl wouldn't tell him...but she was so tired of begging and grovelling for the day, so she just watched her. She leant back on a side table, carefully, like she couldn't hold her own body weight. (Which wouldn't be a surprise, considering all the new bruises she got today.)

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Now came the tricky part....."You know, you aren't the only one to wish that." Aleera said softly. "There's quite a few who wish to see that day." She looked down, tracing an idle design on the counter. She watched Akila from the corner of her eye, gauging her reaction and wondering if it was safe to say more than that. The tiger that should be....isn't....

"That's not news." Akila finally shook her head, trying to make sense of things. Was this girl a spy for the King? Was he trying to get her to tell him how much she hated him? She could do that. "How could it be for such a thick skulled monster." If the girl was working for him, she was officially putting her life on the line. maybe that was a good thing. she couldn't stand doing all of his work obediently. She pulled the steak out, and covered it in dressing, as an excuse to look away, and piled up his plate with mashed potatoes and steak.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Aleera sighed and leaned back against a counter, crossing her arms. "How much do you know about the rebellion? About how far they extend." She asked suddenly, vibrant green eyes focused straight on the girl. 'You know, if the king doesn't kill me, Markus will. For pulling such a stupid stunt. But I think this'll work.' The tiger that should be....isn't....
