Maverick kept a close pursuit on them, adrenaline now coursining through him as he had a chance for a decent food source. Survival was kicking in and he could feel his speed picking up and he quickly got closer and closer to the prey.

As the front of the herd thundered past her tree, Ayita's hunting instincts kicked in over her shock at seeing another living being, and she leaped from her perch with a fierce hunting cry, landing on the backs of one of the animals. Her claws dug for purchase as her teeth clamped down on the lifeline of her prey. She held on until the animal gave its last breath. As it dropped to the ground, she remembered the creature that had been chasing the herd and she stood, eyes searching for whatever it was, ready to defend her prey and quite possibly her life.

((sorry college had me distracted...I shall post now)) Maverick was running when he noticed one of them fell to another predator he charged at her instead and pinnhed her to the tree by putting his claws against her throat as he sniffed her up and down. A mixture of scents caused him to feel conflicted, the scent of a female but also the scent of a feline. He hadn't had a female presence in so long but he also still instinctively despised the felines.

Ayita hissed, shoving him away from her. "Find your own food, mutt," she growled, putting herself between the wolf and her prey. Part of her was willing to share, but the other part refused to trust or help a creature that was not her kind. She glared at Maverick, her claws extended and ready to fight if need be. Though, she rather hoped he'd just leave, she was weak. her meeals had been really scarce lately.

"That food is mine. I chased the herd and you stole the kill from me!" He growled as he spoke. "You felines are all the same, lazy and always stealing the credit from us." He glared at her up and, though inspected her from head to toe, a small part of him considering sharing. He took another step towards her hoping she would back down. He was determined to get this food. No matter what it took.

Ayita hissed again, extending and retracting her claws as she kept herself between him and the prey. "It's called stealth, bird brain. Maybe you should try it sometime instead of just charging like an imbecile! It's you fleabags that are the lazy ones, can't do a damn thing by yourselves." she retorted, glaring at him. She was not going to let him take this from her.

He snarled at her and said "You're the one with fleas, and your disgusting hairballs. Stealth? Where's the honor in stealth? Stealing food from another. It's no wonder your race died off." He took more steps towards her and said "You don't have the energy to fight me." He called her out on it.

"Stealth is not stealing! It's merely observing your prey, instead of charging after it like a blind fool!" Ayita snarled back. She didn't like being called out and she wasn't about to let her lack of energy keep her from tearing this mutt's throat out. "Let's get this straight, pup," she hissed, stalking closer until she was chest to chest with the wolf, yet still between him and the prey, she ran her claw up his neck and under his chin, "I can kick your a** any day."

Feeling her chest against his, made his knees suddenly feel weak, and to make it worse she ran her clas up his neck. A slight shudder was seen going down his entire spine. He suddenly licked her cheek. He had lost control, so long so he had anything...he attempted to gather himself but only successfully after he managed to push her to the ground but all aggression in him gone. He looked at her confusion in his eyes "Clever trick..." was all he could mutter as he started to get up.

"As if I would do anything with you.." Ayita growled, sauntering closer to her prey as she glared at the wolf. "Go find your own prey... I'm not in the mood for a fight," she added, crossing her arms over her chest, her gaze not wavering from him as her tail swayed back and forth in irritation.

Maverick snickered and said "Oh please, you'd be lucky if I had continued. I could feel the tension you have building." He had an upperhand once more but the grumbling in his tummy made him decide it was better to live for another day "You're lucky I've decided to let you keep your prey."

"Oh, please, you're all bark, no bite," Ayita hissed, teeth bared. Her sharp canines had blood on them, same with her mouth and a tad bit on her chest, due to her recent kill. Once this worthless mutt got out of her way and let her eat, she'd go and clean herself up in the nearby water source. Felines were very prideful clean creatures.

Maverick growled and muttered something "all bark eh?" Without warning he suddenly turned around charged at her and slashed at her abdominal. He had heard enough from this feline and now he was going to teach her a lesson.

Ayita yowled in anger, dodging the wolf's blow just in time, his claws barely nicking her side. She pounced at him, claws extended, knocking him to the ground. She ended up straddling him, hissing as she attempted to swipe at his face and neck.
