Zane sat at his desk looking over the reports he had gotten from the front over the course of this "war." Things had been going smoothly but he had made one mistake. He had never rushed anything in his life and upon the death of the king, he and lost sight of the importance of patience. That one slip up had cast him much but not all was lost. The death of the new king would have to come differently now. It would have to look like the enemy's doing from everyone's point of view. The only problem was how. No one in their right mind would send him to the front for any problem but another assassination attempt was out of the question as well for the time being at least. Still what concerned him the most was the fact that the guard had gotten wind of the plot. How had the information gotten out? He sighed as he tossed the report he was reading onto his desk. The war itself was still going as planed. He sat back in his chair deep in thought. Life was filled with the unexpected. Even the most carefully planned out operations could be dislodged in the blink of an eye. He just had to be patient. There was still plenty of time.

{If this post sucks, please let me know. If you don't want her interacting with your character, feel free to also let me know. I'll just delete this post and redo it in either case. No matter what, though, I promise the quality of my posts will improve at least somewhat over time.}
Rhiannon, as always, held a sweet aroma of herbs and deccorative flora. T'was no real wonder, for she tended to keep to the gardens of her esteemed Master's estate. It was by far her favorite place to be, with the flowers making kinder company than most humans did these days. Today, however, was different. Rhiannon had already tended to the gardens, done a few extra chores here and there as well. She had noticed that he seemed somewhat preoccupied as of late. More out of duty than actual affection, she had personally decided to visit him at his study and to see what disturbed him so. With her usual glassy-eyed look, she knocked upon the door of Zane's study. "Excuse me, but may I come in?"

(It seems perfectly fine to me.) Zane's eye's shifted towards the noise but he did not move otherwise. "If you wish." He replied as his gaze shifted back to the documents on his desk. Rhiannon had proven to be a valuable ally. She always had the same air of innocence about her and today was no different. One could never truly what she was thinking. "So, what's on your mind this this lovely morning?"

Locke was patrolling the hallway in front of the Prince's quarters. Even though he only personally knew Prince Maverick for a short time, he could tell that he was anxious. So, as he was patrolling he was thinking of some jokes to lighten Maverick's mood. Only that he couldn't think of any. "Being on the brink of war sucks," He said to himself.

Rhiannon promptly entered the room, gently shutting the door behind her before she would bother asking what she would. Her lips formed a pleasant, well-practiced smile as her gaze met Zane's being. It seemed warm and welcoming, which was exactly the point. People were far more receptive of a gentle and sweet woman than they were a bitter witch-born, weren't they? Even the tone of voice she used sounded honey-sweet. "You, of course." Perhaps it sounded flirtier than intended, but that did not matter. Before he could reply, she continued, "You seem rather...preoccuppied as of late. Is something the matter? Can I assist you in any way?"

V i c t o r i a x d e x C a u x x x xAs she gripped her pen tighter, her eyes changed from it's usual blank look to the look she often got while focusing on art; a look full of various emotions and jumbled up inspirations hit. Her movements grew more and more natural, and her replenishing of ink to the tip of her pen grew more constant as she sketched out the scene with quicker movements.
x x x Suddenly, her movements stopped. Her eyes blanked of any emotions once again, and she gazed around, exterior calm, interior pounding with an almost unnaturally proficient hidden nervousness. She pulled the hard-cover book and paper closer to her body, hiding the contents of the image, yet not letting the ink touch her pure-white clothing. After calming her nerves, and making sure nobody came by, she resumed her drawing. However, all emotions were lost. The remainder of her man-made image would likely be dull and boring, however still well done.

Zane glanced up at her when she responded. He studied her face and found that as usual he could not fine anything conclusive about her. "Me? Well that should be no surprise. There is much to be done. We are at war after all." Zane replied. "But if you want to help me, I only ask you to lend an ear." He got up from where he sat and made his way to the window. There was a momentary pause as he thought. "Our previous mission didn't go as intended." He knew that Rhiannon would pick up on the fact that he was no longer talking about the war. "Our strike was too early. It was rushed and we were ill prepared." To anyone listening in on the conversation, it would sound like he was talking about an assault that was carried out a few weeks back that ended in a failure. "Despite this fact, the attack should not have been stopped so easily." He turned to face her now. "I'm sure our king has been informed of this but my information is limited so there isn't much I can do to help at the moment."

Just as the prince paced his room, Amelia paced the hall outside it. Another guard had been here, too, but Amel had asked him to leave. She could handle this, and any other person here would make her more jumpy. The girl was just as anxious. Though her brother's taught her in secret, she had never truly been trained as a guard, let alone head guard. Well, fine. Her and her brother sounded alike anyway, and there were few things different in the way they acted. She could pull of Amel's personality well enough.. but skill in battle? She had to pretend to train in the bow before even carrying one on her. That took weeks. Then she had to actually train in the short sword. That took even longer. With her mask over her eyes, she continued to pace. Thinking. She did not appear as anxious, aside from her slightly quickened stride. In fact, Amel appeared calm and relaxed, a trick her brothers taught her. She was waiting for something. Some sort of event or some sort of need for her attentions.

Maverick thought and thought but nothing could come to him. He finally got up with a heavy sigh, perhaps he should seek counsel, gather the opinions of those he trusts and see if they have any insight on this. He was still conducting in his head at least and slightly on paper, who ordered the first attack, or was it just bandits looking to start a war. If so, how and where did they get Baltean armor. He decided to head outside his room, he opened the door to see Amel pacing as was usual.

Finally, Gabriella finished her thinking, and so finished her playing. She walked back into her rooms and lovingly set her cello into its plac next to her harp, her lyre, and her flute, and prepared herself to walk the halls of the castle for some exercise. Nothing over-done, just pulling her hair back in a loose bun, throwing a shawl around her shoulders. Once this was done, she wrote a quick note to leave for anyone hoping to see her and finding her rooms empty, and left.

Rhiannon remained silent as Zane spoke with his hidden meanings. Her expression changed not even in the slightest, perhaps making it even more difficult for the man to guess what went on in her pretty little head. Mentally, she marvelled at how quick he was to voice his plans towards her, even if through her weight's worth of war innuendo. Then again, it was a wonder to her why anyone trusted her. She was certainly no traitor, but one could argue that she was a 'deceitful beast' due to being 'the spawn of a witch'. No doubt Zane knew this fact from the very start. Personal complexes aside, she contemplated the information she had just been given. The attempt on the Prince's life had failed? Unsurprising, yet she did not dare say so. After all, a good listener did not offer unwelcome advice or chastize the speaker for their mistakes. Instead, all she offered was a simple, "A trying situation indeed. It is no wonder that you have been so stressed..."

Locke saluted and said, "Yes captain." He left the corridor and headed to another area of the castle. He ended up at the training hall and started to train.

Zane continued to study Rhiannon. The chances of her betraying him was low. Both of them had come too far to back out now though if Zane was caught, the she sill could escape detection. Besides she didn't see like the type of person to sell someone out this early form what he could gather. "As I said, they were ready for us. This suggests that the information was leaked somehow. Ether somehow our army was spotted despite our caution due to some twist of fate or we have spies among us already. Judging by the events following the attack, the chances of spies are low. The only problem is now is how the information was leaked. I have gone over this many times and with my limited information, I have yet to find anything conclusive. The key to winning this war is information." He paused again here as if to let everything he had just said sink in. "But at times like this one must be very careful to whom they give information and as such, the only ones who know the information I want is the king himself and maybe his personal guard."
Kray had been revealed of his post in the middle of the night by Locke. He had taken the time to get some sleep and was up with the sun rise and at the training grounds. Rarely did anyone come here this early and he liked the solitude. He would would normally finish his practice before anyone else arrived. He held a training sword before him quickly and smoothly going through the the motions of every swing, tying together a combo that flowed like water. Though he moved fast, he made no jerky movements and mainly concentrated on his form. The sword was not his weapon of choice but one could not rely one only one or 2 weapons. There would be situations where one could not reach the weapon they were most comfortable with so it was best to be proficient with as many as possible. He took a deep breath as he come to the end of the combo. His sword play was still far from where he wanted it to be. Despite his efforts, he could not seem to match the skill he had with that of the pike or daggers. He took up a ready position to try again.

Kirsen took his first easy breath only once that stand of woods was out of their view. He'd been glancing back over his shoulder constantly, and he knew that Tessa had been, too - he just couldn't seem to catch her actually doing it. Every time he looked back, she had her eyes straight ahead, and it was a little frustrating not to have the proof that she was as paranoid as he was.
Though really, wasn't fear supposed to be all about the unknown? And Tessa knew exactly what might have been waiting for them in there. Maybe she really wasn't afraid. He glanced back one more time, but he didn't see too much.
Maybe they were past the worst of it for now.
Glancing over at his companion, he lifted a brow, thought about asking her, and decided against it. She didn't like to look into their futures, and he tried to avoid asking her to. Looking into the future of a place around them wasn't the same thing as reading their futures, and he understood and obeyed the distinction.
"Yes, Kirsen?" she asked. Of course she'd seen him look her way. She seemed to see everything, sometimes - present and future both.
"Nothing," he said lightly. "Are we still on course?"
She looked at him thoughtfully for a second, and then went with the change of topic. "Yes."
They kept moving.

Alex rushed down the corridor towards the prince's chamber in a panic. "Oh My I hope his exellency will excuse my tardiness" He said to himself. He bursted through the door, arms stretched out and tears flowing. "Oh master Maverick please forgive me I had overslept after a party you have my upmost apologies!" He said with strange sloating piunk sparkles around him
