Mennick / M'nick 01 (direct copy+paste for now)

Crafter // Stands Impression Candidate

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Mennick
Age: 22
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Panromantic Homosexual
Craft: Healer
Rank: Journeyman (Mindhealer, spec. Thread)
Location: High Reaches Weyr

Physical Description:
Short hair, just long enough to show curl (pixie!) to his orangey-red hair. In the summer blonde highlights set it afire. Super pale and ruddy-cheeked, he does not tan or freckle. Medium height, wiry build, prone to moving when studying/thinking (pacing, fidgiting), very energetic. His face has a nondescript blunted square shape with rounded features, and a tapering nose. Most of the time he seems almost about to smile, his eyes merry if a confusingly pale grey-green color.

He likes clothing based more on how they feel than how they look. He likes the clean lines of militaristic cuts, but is unlikely to wear it if it's uncomfortable or difficult to move around in. He likes interesting textures as well, and uses uneven weaves in decorating when infeasible in clothing. His favorite cloak has a wide collar of sandy-colored llama-skin fur that matches his hair. While he isn't too particular, he does enjoy the colors purple and green (or teal), both of which have been at one time or other associated with his craft.

Personality:
Mennick is a sympathetic sort; even if he cannot always relate he seeks common ground and understanding. He has a warm personality and comes across to others as genuinely caring and open-minded. Others may feel as if they can come to him with their problems or ailments and that he will listen and genuinely care about what they have to say. Sometimes his suggestions are surprisingly insightful, even to those he knows more intimately. He gets along with a wide range of people and can feel part of many groups and communities.

Spontaneous and playful in his time off, he is known to get caught up in his own feelings hoping that the heat of the moment would last a little longer. He has had many relationships, some quite stormy. He seeks affirmation from others, especially loved ones; after all, he does not hesitate to give appreciation and support. After a break-up and a bottle of wine, it is not uncommon for him to wake up with someone he barely knows without recollection of how he got there.

As a Mindhealer, he is able to make connections between events, symptoms, and other reactions. With more practice, he will see the patterns more quickly before proceeding with treatment. Though he defaults to rules, he is flexible and can improvise in abnormal circumstances. He sees life as a precious gift and strives to make the most of it, even when the sheer number of patients is overwhelming. He proceeds enthusiastically and energetically, seeking to convey his outlook to his patients.

As a leader, he would be charismatic, attracting people to a cause with his passion and careful optimism. He can inspire and motivate people with his expressive, down-to-earth speaking style. He is an ethical advocate who can provide insightful counsel to his superiors because he speaks with the people in mind. He takes their needs, interests and aptitudes in mind, contrasting against their actual contributions to the cause, and their potential to improve and contribute in the future.

Positive Trait List Energetic, enthusiastic, resourceful; empathetic, ethical, charismatic.
Negative Trait List May react unpredictably upon seeing injustices go unpunished, likewise may be insubordinate when expected to follow unjust orders. On the other hand, seeks acceptance or companionship to the point of trying to change himself rather than to seek common ground. Similarly, easily taken advantage of by loved-ones, respected superiors, and peers. Self-neglect: prone to melt-downs or heavy drinking as stressors pile up, and malnutrition. Prone to short-term or unstable relationships; separation anxiety.
Myers-Briggs: ENFP, Visionaries: Advocate

History:
A summarized family history: Mennick grew up in a small hold in the Tillek region that specializes in terraced farming and baking. It was small, but it was his parents' hold, and it had been carved out of the mountain itself by their ancestors. Beholden to High Reaches Weyr, a matter of great pride to the family, the hold nevertheless was capable of only a modest tithe. In the care of the sturdy, hardworking parents named Zandesik and Cynmen, Mennick enjoyed a difficult but well-rounded childhood. He witnessed his eldest brother Spasek sent away for "talking too much," which deeply upset the younger boy who rationalized that Spasek must be lazy. (It wasn't until many Turns later that he learned that Spasek had indeed talked so much that he developed laryngitis and began to play his lute in earnest to fill in the "silence." He was already skilled enough to gain entry into the HarperHall, where he was treated and studied under a voice coach. He decided to stay and Master in the subject of Voice!) This left the next brother in line to inherit the Hold. An easygoing but hard-working son, Zendysk was happy take up that mantle. Cynsizk, the eldest sister, was already talented in Knitting and went off to WeaverCraftHall to expand her study to include Tailoring. She made sure that little Mennick understood that it was her choice, that she loved her family, and that she would come back home someday soon. Finally, the youngest sister, Cynchie, had decided as a little girl that she would stay and become a Baker under their Journeywoman mother's tutelage.

As stair-steppers, Mennick and his brother Maddeck were always together. Growing up with this very logical brother, Mennick's focus was always on on feelings. He observed people relating psychologically to their wounds and the wounds of others. Pain, fear, coping and compensating, annoyance or impatience, complacency and re-injury. Though he lacked the vocabulary at the time, he came to understand these feelings intimately. As a very young child, while his brother wrapped its injuries, Mennick told little sister Cynchie that her doll was afraid and needed her help to get well.

Though older, Mennick was so much smaller that strangers assumed that Maddeck was the elder of the two. As a result, Mennick developed a bit of a complex and allowed his brother to take the lead in many adventures and decision-making. One of these decisions was moving to the HealerCraftHall, where they would continue to study for many Turns. However, was inevitable that they eventually be separated because of their differing aptitudes and interests. Mennick's interests were broad and he sought to understand how people think: how they learn, retain information and memories, the grieving process, the reactions to trauma, and other more complicated mental issues. It was no surprise that he studied under the Mindhealers as an apprentice.

Long before the brothers walked the tables, they decided to follow a dream they had shared as boys: to serve at High Reaches Weyr as Weyr Healers. Their tiny Hold of origin was along a well-traveled road, and their favorite Harper-tales were about dragons fighting Thread. Everyone knew that High Reaches still kept its vigil in case the ancient threat came back, even though common knowledge stated that it had long been defeated. The Harpers kept the old tales alive and the boys formed new ones about serving their guardians in the sky. Since their path was with the HealingCraft and their goals were plain, it made sense to their instructors to transfer there early on, as opposed to later when they had established pre-conceived notions incompatible with Weyr life.

Later, Thread returned to most of Pern's surprise. Families were decimated or irradicated. Mennick and Maddeck had barely walked the tables when they found themselves treating ailments that required innovation on the fly. They were already in the best place to study how a healthy mind and body can thrive despite the threat of Thread, and now Mennick found himself treating those shattered by horror, terror, and shock.

Mennick loves little girls. They are so fragile and cute. At least he used to think so before Silvina came along. Now, he knows them to be strong, resilient, and fascinating little people. Silvie came into his life during the first waves of Thread, when everyone suffered seemingly endlessly. She was homeless, parentless, lost, hungry, dirty-- who knows what all she was, she was hardly old enough to know her own name. Mennick may never know what all she suffered and she may never remember. The healers, including himself, knew not what to do with children like her, other to patch up her wounds, foster her off and move on. But Silvie followed him home, as he will say forevermore, and if she wants to call him Daddy, he is overjoyed to find that niche in her life.

Dragons represent so many ideals that many people look to with whimsy, and Mennick is no exception. He has thought of Impressing more often than his practical brother has. To Impress a dragon would mean that he would have to set aside his daughter and craft for the dragon, Weyr, and Thread. Further, he understands that it would by necessity delay his Mastery in Mindhealing, even if his focus is on Thread-related mental trauma. And even if he will understand it firsthand through the eyes of a dragonrider. Whatever the future may hold, he attends every Hatching he possibly can and enjoys each immensely. It is not all for fun though, and he drags his notes along with him to study the process of candidates bonding with their dragons, or going back to the barracks without. And should a dragon follow him home one day, he is certain that his brother Maddeck will step in and help raise Silvie. After all, "Uncle Maddy" does already, after a fashion, and he was the one who named her!

Veledath 01

Green Veledath
Written by Fated Fable
Colored by Andranis

User Image

Origin of Name: Veledath originates from Veleda, a priestess who led the Bructerii against Rome. The name Veleda means seeress, and Veleda is only one of many priestesses who fomented rebellion against colonial powers. Historically the role of priestess or priest has carried with it an assumed authority derived from a higher power, granting such an individual considerable cultural currency. Their words held greater weight, a power beyond that of an ordinary man or woman.

User Image

Inspiration: The High Priestess is the second card in the Major Arcana. She is ruled by the moon, which is symbolically associated with female aspects of the divine in many cultures. Balanced between the Maiden and the Crone, she possesses wisdom and knowledge of the mysteries. In the reverse position, the High Priestess can convey being blocked from divine sources, and possessing hidden agendas.

Personality: Veledath has secrets galore. She has paid careful, close attention to each one of her siblings since they were shelled, and she knows much more than she lets on about each and every one of them. Her thirst for knowledge isn't particularly driven by a desire to be recognized for it so much as it is by a need to have more cards in her hand than anyone else. She will learn a game until she is a master at it, and will never let on to opponents just how deeply she understands it. Keeping everyone guessing, never letting anyone in quite close enough to truly know her, allows Veledath a sense of security. If anyone knew what lay beyond her barriers they might not accept or adore her as she wishes to be.

Part of the almost uncanny knack is simple practice, and part of it is a reliance on her gut. She pairs emotional intelligence with mental intelligence, and so can be keenly intuitive. However, she faces a certain block when it comes to her own shortcomings and faults. Those can lead her to embarrassment since she would do almost anything to preserve the image that she's trying to portray. While she would like very much to be the perfect creature that she pretends to be, she is not and she knows that she is not. But maybe if she plays her cards right no one will figure her game out. After all, while even a master can be beaten, it would certainly take considerable luck to do so, or another master. That sort of skill is something that she would respect, even as she resented it. This is a Green that does not like to be commanded. Rather, she would prefer to be the one to call the shots, even if she takes no glory from it.

At her core, Veledath suffers from a deeply seated need for validation from her clutchmates and others. She wishes to have that mysterious flash and flare, that others might come to her for advice. Without their adulation, what is her wisdom worth? Although she puts on a show of confidence, in her heart of hearts, she is afraid of being exposed as a fraud. While she does genuinely offer keen insight, she is also prone to playing a part rather than opening up. It is painfully hard for her to let others in, lest they see her inner self and reject it. And so she must keep up pretenses, that that vulnerable core never be exposed to the gaze and judgement of others.

At her best, Veledath can be exceptionally charming and almost uncannily intuitive! Her powers of observation are well honed, and she puts them to considerable use. She tends to use her charm to tease out tidbits of information that she'll hold onto for later. When she feels that someone is paying too close attention to her, she'll try to distract them either with her wit, or with some interesting piece of information. As mentioned before, she doesn't like to let anyone close. Anyone could betray her. As someone who feels that she herself is not completely trustworthy, she has difficulty trusting in turn. But perhaps letting someone in would allow her to open up a little more in general, though the Green certainly doesn't think it would be to her benefit.

Positive Traits: Intuitive, intelligent, farsighted
Negative Traits: Beguiling, oblique, guarded

User Image User Image User Image

Adult Size: 26'
Physical Attributes: There is a certain charm to Veledath that may have something more to do with her mystique than physical allure, but she knows how to put her best claws forward. An elegant, large Green, she comes close to the maximum length for her color, but is not very heavily muscled.

Additional Notes: While she may have some close companions, Veledath finds it very hard to trust because she has ever so much that could be revealed-- to her detriment! When she does form a bond, it will probably be of longstanding, for if someone is close enough to her to get her walls down then she won't want them to part, lest they reveal her secrets to all. She does not trust any of her siblings, although that does not mean that she does not love them. She hasn't picked sides in the internal pre-Hatching scuffle, and that means she has companions on both ends of the spectrum. No one can truly say that they're friends with the Devil, but she's slotted him in the "uneasy allies" category. Similarly, she dislikes the arrogant assumptions of her metallic siblings, but on a personal level finds Aresoth to be an agreeable beast. Her themesong is Elastic Heart by Sia.

Why Me? Mennick's intelligence instantly drew Veledath. Although she is not inclined to reveal her motivations unless doing so projects her as a luminary, she does see in Mennick someone whom she can trust. His profession is of keen interest to the Green, who is fascinated by the inner workings of the mind. If there were ever someone that she could share her secrets with, a Mind Healer would be that person. Perhaps he can be that one person whom she can confide him, the person who will allow her to grow in faith and trust. Opening up to Mennick might help her to progress to the point of developing true friendships with other dragons, something that she hasn't managed yet. On the flipside, she has a lot to offer a man in his line of work. She can help him to remember key details about patients, and he can rest assured that their secrets are safe with her. Not that he could keep her out even if he wanted to.

Candidate // BeastCraft WeyrHerd Apprentice (camelids, ovines)

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Name: Rothgar
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Panromantic Asexual
Craft: BeastCraft
Rank: Apprentice (spec. camelids/llamas, Weyr herd: ovines/sheep)
Location: High Reaches Weyr

Physical Description:

Tall for his age, a trait inherited from his father, Rothgar seems more like a rubber band than anything. He likes to stay limber and strong so he can take on the BeastCraft properly. Unfortunately, he has yet to fill out, and "taking on" anything much bigger than a cria is a dream for the future.

His skin is medium in darkness and a hue that makes scars more difficult to see. With his brash demeanor he has made more than his fair share of mistakes and once got on the wrong side of a watch wher, leading to an ugly claw mark across the face. For those that cannot see the scar at first, he appears to snarl incessantly, just like a wher! On the other hand, a jolly smile can become extra bright.

Narrow but striking light-blue eyes are a trait he inherited from his mother Garmeyla, along with her thick mop of wavy, near-black hair. His facial features, beyond the scar, are rather flat with wide, high cheekbones that angle to a strong jaw and chin.

His clothing, well, it's strictly utilitarian and if he has a moment tries to wear some of the Weyr or Craft's colors. Otherwise he grabs whatever happens to be clean and/or what is needed for the day, such as mucking-around boots. The exceptions to that are as follows: the chain of silvery material of unknown design, origin and reason hidden in his shirt, and an earring made from the claw-tip of a certain wher.

Personality:

Rothgar likes to joke around and make friends. He has been surrounded by animals "forever" and sometimes forgets that he enjoys people's company too. As a Candidate he felt like he was making up for lost time before dragons could chain them all up to a life of rigid rules and silvery doom. Yes, his father made sure he believed as the Weyr did, that Thread would Fall again. Why is he a Candidate again? Oh yes. He likes dragons. He adores his father's silly Blue.

The here and now is what fun-loving Rothgar focuses on to enjoy his life. He sees the positive and tries to lighten the lives of those around him with his crooked smile and straightforward but positive words. He would probably make a great leader if his gaze was aimed more at the future and his mind more technical and tactical. But he would rather see that people suffer a lot less when pain and suffering will happen no matter what. Some people are good at preventing some of it, but he's better at dealing with Right Now.

Positive Trait List Adaptable; Animal affinity; Energetic; Fun; Generous; Sociable
Negative Trait List Attention whore somewhat, sometimes; Difficulty learning new things on his own; Rash; Thinking ahead is not his forte
Myers-Briggs: ESFP, Creators: Entertainer/Joker

History:

Rothgar has spent his days outside and his nights studying by the fire as far back as he could carry tack and tools, and read. Shuffled back and forth between his parents, Rothgar has always been surrounded by herd animals and dragons. One of his earliest memories was that of climbing all over his father's Blue Isbranth. Later, his father taught him how to put riding straps on Isbranth, how to oil him, and how to ride! Of course, as a toddler, one is not controlling the dragon.

He knows that his parents Garmeyla and R'ulfr practically grew up together, and that they were childhood sweethearts. But R'ulfr was Searched and his life became that of a dragonrider. Sometime after his graduation, they tried to live together at the Weyr, and even back at the Hold. Rothgar knows not how much time passed nor how many times they "tried again," but it became a pattern and even a habit.

It was during one such time of indecision that Rothgar was born and his first dragon-centric memories were forged during the first half-dozen Turns of his life. While Rothgar did not grow up in the Weyr per se, he was familiar with it. His elder siblings, still weyrbrats at the time, doted on him as only children can, by dragging him along to investigate the hidden tunnels, secret stashes, and many ways to get into trouble. Some of the weyrbrats of that time still remember their adventures. Some remembered his face and one or two even remembered his name when he returned many Turns later as a Beastcrafter.

Garmeyla took Rothgar with her, back to their small Hold in the High Reaches mountains, for the last time when he was about six or eight Turns old. It was (and continues to be) a multi-family effort, one of several Holds in the region specializing in sturdy pack llamas that produced high-quality wool. The herds needed minimal shepherding but the life was hard: the weather was unpredictable, the terrain treacherous. Only the strongest beasts and humans survived for long, and never alone. But Rothgar was strong, and everyone in that community worked together to raise the children. He learned how to work as a team even before he came to live at the Weyr permanently. He cared about everyone, even those he did not like, and they worked through every challenge together.

By the time he had come of age, he had decided that he was not close enough with his father. Over the Turns he and Garmeyla had visited R'ulfr and Isbranth many times, but it was not enough for the boy, who could remember what it was like before. And there was something else. He enjoyed the quirky llamas at home, but as he grew older yearned for a dragon and the life of a rider. Perhaps it was a flight of fancy, but he wanted to be certain! So, with his parents' blessing, he requested to transfer to High Reaches Weyr.

Rothgar had not been Searched and had no reason to believe that he would become a rider even if he was. He understood this, and applied himself seriously to his Craft, learning with great curiosity the many differences between llamas and other herdbeasts. He would never get used to watching any herdbeast eaten alive, nor blooded, or so he told himself. Thankfully, he studied primarily under the Weyr's Ovines (sheep) Master, whose job was breeding and rearing for the production of wool and human consumption, not dragons.

Searched only months before the first Threadfall, he jumped at the chance to become an official Candidate. But first, he wanted to make a careful transition between these two vastly different but demanding lives. As a shepherd, he had brought llamas and two dogs to help with the herd. The dogs use specific hand and voice commands to herd the ovines and other herd beasts. In deciding to leave these under the Ovinemaster's care, he has begun to show the other apprentices how to work with the dogs and use their hand signals. The llamas are already bonding with the ovines as their guard animals, and need little fuss, but what they do need they will certainly get in his absence.

Now as a fulltime Candidate, in his free time he spins wool and is proficient in knitting and crocheting. Increasingly, he has found himself teaching the skills to others who never picked them up due to living in warmer climates or simply not needing (or wanting) to. Not so good at felting and with little dye training, he has reached out to lower caverns staff to give him some pointers.

With only a few months to get used to being a Candidate, Thread fell once again. Raised to be adaptable, Rothgar quickly switched over to helping the riders wherever necessary. With even less free time now, he has spent most of his waking hours in the here and now, with little time wasted wondering about the future. When he thinks about his father, his worry only serves to freeze him in place. It is not just R'ulfr fighting thread, now. He has two elder siblings and one younger brother in the air protecting their home. Right now all he can think about is hurrying up with that numbweed. Or getting up there himself. He doesn't want to think about what he would rather do, and if he was just fantasizing before. He can't let himself doubt if he can do it. If R'guo can fight thread, so can he. Anyone can do it. One must simply think of the here and now and hope that that keening has nothing to do with his own family.

Smile.

He'll do that, too.

Crafter // Stands Impression Candidate

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: M'deck
Age: 21
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Aromantic Bisexual
Craft: Healer
Rank: Journeyman (Trauma and Superficial surgeries)
Location: High Reaches Weyr

Physical Description:
Close-cropped dark-auburn hair, muddy-grey eyes. Longish, narrow face most commonly seen deadpan, frowning in concentration or annoyance, and rarely smiling (usually at his brother, adopted daughter, or some really tasty food). Tall, long-muscled, conscious of staying in shape. When weather and Thread permit, he goes for a run around the lake in early morning to get his mind going. Otherwise it's done inside. Very prone to freckling in the sun, he has many freckles mostly on his face, neck and shoulders, top of the thighs, etc. from jogging in the summer. Naturally they begin to disappear as soon as the snow starts.

About clothing-- who cares? Function over fashion. Sleeveless shirts and shorts in the summer when it's hot. Boots in the muck. Fur and layers in the snow. Inside, he typically wears a plain leather vest and a shirt with the poofy sleeves with tight gauntlets to keep his forearms clean. He tries to wear lavender somewhere on his person so that a casual (or frantic) observer can identify that he is a Healer. Reading glasses are worn inside. It all looks good on him. Such a shame it's also wasted on him!

Personality:
His Myers-Briggs profile would be INTJ (introvert intuitive thinking judging), The Intellectuals: Strategist. He is introverted and socially awkward, but intuitive of the needs of his patients. He does a lot more thinking than talking, but tact is especially difficult for him and is often abandoned in favor of saving everyone that extra time. He is quick to judge a situation in just a few seconds or moments, but while he is very successful (most of the time) with patients' physical needs, he has trouble relating with repercussions mentally and emotionally. That is where his brother comes in anyway.

He has a particularly stubborn way with glasses. It may be argued that his eyesight correlates with his studies, as even in the dining hall, one can find him in those reading glasses pouring over scrolls and books. He definitely needs them for close-range objects. Like those moving forms a dragonlength away called people. But he can see a group of friends or individual across the hall and accurately guess the weave of their silks and identify who did the tooling on their new leather boots. His use for them usually begins indoors and ends outdoors. And it is arguable that he would need glasses were he to Impress. But one thing he will tell you is that sort of thing is of the utmost importance; of course he would wear them, until he can get a set of prescription goggles.

He loves to dance. About the only times one will see him out mingling, besides at meals, is when dancing is involved. This is one of those few times he stops thinking about his craft or how awkward he feels in public and focuses only on himself and the music. Of course, he tries not to think of all the trouble one can get into at a dance.

He loves baked goods. The way to his heart will probably be through his stomach.

Positive Traits
~ Conceptual, Insightful, Open-minded. When presented with a problem, he views it as a puzzle, challenge, or assignment. Thus separated from it, he can look at it in broader terms.
~ Logical. He is capable of thinking abstractly, placing people on a chess board, so to speak. It allows him to think of the problem as opposed to the emotions others might feel, and that he might feel. It can be a bit of a problem when he tries to assign logical thought to people-problems, and is sometimes suprised by their responses.
~ Independent, Relentless. He can work on his own without supervision, acknowledgement, or appreciation to thrive.
~ Introspective. He often thinks from his own perspective and emotions to try to figure out the people closest to him or who affect his life the most, as well as or people-related aspects of a puzzle. This is probably the limit of his empathy, which given his other traits would be quite limited.

Negative
~ Critical, Quick to judge a situation in extremes. In this he can look to the worst case scenario before looking at the best, but may dwell on the worst inappropriately, leading to poor outlook in the situation, or his mood in general.
~ Perfectionist, Obsessive, Expects excellence in himself and others. Superficially these may seem like positive traits, and they can be. But people annoy him: they are lazy and at the same time expect preferential treatment. If they don't earn something through merit, he is unlikely to give him a millimeter, let alone an inch.
~ Socially awkward, Emotionally detached. He does try to "let his hair down" and enjoy the presence of others, but as soon as he opens his mouth his awkwardness is revealed. Even if he is in a good mood he may seem pissy to those unfamiliar with his sharp words and personality quirks. In mixed company he prefers to keep his mouth shut and hide in a book or his studies.

History:
Family:
- Zandesik (57) and Cynmen (48 ), Parents (minor Holders, Tillek region, FarmerCraft, High Reaches Weyr)
- Spasek (29), eldest brother (Harper, voice training, lute)
- Zendysk (27), elder brother (heir)
- Cynsizk (25), elder sister (Tailor; Knitting)
- Mennick (22), elder brother (Mindhealer, Thread trauma)
- Cynchie (17), younger sister (Baker)
- C'vi (31) of Brown Reyinath, weyrmate (played by Thaliawen)
- Silvina (Silvie) (3), adopted daughter (played by Thaliawen)

Mennick and Maddeck grew up in a small hold in the Tillek region that specializes in terraced farming and baking. It was small, but it was his parents' hold, and it had been carved out of the mountain itself by their ancestors. Beholden to High Reaches Weyr, a matter of great pride to the family, the hold nevertheless was capable of only a modest tithe. In the care of the sturdy, hardworking parents named Zandesik and Cynmen, Mennick and Maddeck enjoyed a difficult but well-rounded childhood.

Mennick witnessed his eldest brother Spasek sent away for "talking too much," which deeply upset Mennick, especially when Maddeck (who was not there when it happened) rationalized that Spasek must be lazy. It wasn't until Turns later that he learned that Spasek had indeed talked so much that he developed laryngitis and began to play his lute in earnest to fill in the "silence." He was already skilled enough to gain entry into the HarperHall, where he was treated and studied under a voice coach. He decided to stay and Master in the subject of Voice!

This left the next brother in line to inherit the Hold. Thus she averted, for Mennick, any damage that Maddeck's cynicism might have on her departure. Finally, the youngest sister, Cynchie, had decided as a little girl that she would stay and become a Baker under their Journeywoman mother's tutelage.

The younger of two stair-steppers, he and his brother were always together. They played games together. They talked about many things together, like what they wanted to be when they grew up. Both showed an affinity for healing from a very young age, but in very different areas. While Mennick was an empathic person and preferred to work with people, Maddeck was interested in how things worked mechanically. An example of this might be watching how muscles move when an arm bends or twists. In games, he always washed and wrapped wounds. He practiced on himself and his brother, or on dolls (little girls either loved it or hated it).

As soon as they were old enough, Mennick 11 and Maddeck 10 turns, they begged to be sent off to learn their craft at the Healer Hall, Fort Hold. The brothers had heard the stories of Threadfall, and how High Reaches Weyr has carried on the tradition. Impressionable, dreamy-eyed, they must have thought something like, "Wouldn't it be great if we could treat those riders?" The romance of Thread, riders injured in the process of saving the world. They knew these were tales woven by the harpers who spun old tales to pass the time. But it did not change their passion for the craft.

Then, as their specific interests became more apparent, Mennick for healing the mind and Maddeck for healing the body, they had shown great potential and were allowed to study under someone of their choice. Their mentors immediately recognized their love for dragons and desire to learn in that bustling atmosphere of the Weyr. So at the ages of 13 (Mennick) and 12 (Maddeck) they were sent all the way to High Reaches Weyr (instead of Fort), near their ancestral home, to continue their apprenticeships. At present time, even though he has walked the tables, Maddeck currently studies under one of the very competent Weyr Surgeons.

Maddeck's area of expertise often brings him out on the Sands during a hatching, one of those in Healer's Purple instead of Candidate's White. He tries to be there to witness some of the miracles of Pern. Riders and dragons are part of his study, after all. His goal is to become a Master one day, so that he can pass on what he has learned to other healers. Despite his close proximity to the Sands and Weyrlings, he has no intention of Impressing, though he knows it is possible. If he Impresses, he will still continue on as planned, but with his focus on the rider's point of view.

A year or two ago his brother found himself a little tag-along in the form of a weyrbrat toddler. Her noise bothered him while he was studying, and in his irritation he called her "Silvie" for silver, referring to "silver strands of Thread." The name stuck, somehow. Much more recently, he can't even bring himself to think about this horrible lapse of judgment, and insists he was referring to something else entirely. Like how the word, 'sylvan,' refers to trees and forests. Nevermind that Mennick thought of it first.

Roleplays:
Revelio and Open Sesame! Double Clutch Hatching! (an ORP)

Other:
Maddy, nickname by Silvina

Candidate Specific Questions
Do you want them to have an official Search RP? No, I'm not opposed to unwanted searches though!
Do you understand they will age every passing year regardless if you're there to RP the or not? Yes
Do you want them to have a possible Stands Impression? Yes
- - - > Please keep in mind that Stands Impressions are very rare. This means that not everybody will get an opportunity to have a surprise Impression, and you lower your chances of being picked by a dragonet. Given the character is not ICly an official Candidate, they will need a reason to be at the Weyr of their choice long-term, or at least for every Hatching.

Takuth 01

Blue Takuth
Written by Uta
Colored by -_Wish of Tevarae_-

User Image

Origin of Name: Dementor's tend to leave their victims with nothing but fear and negativity. In particular, Harry Potter was particularly terrified of their presence during multiple interactions in the book. Takuth's name is derived from the Indonesian word taku which is the translation of the english word "fear".

Inspiration: Dementor

A Dementor is a gliding, wraith-like Dark creature, widely considered to be one of the foulest to inhabit the world. Dementors feed on human happiness and thus generate feelings of depression and despair in any person in close proximity to them. They can also consume a person's soul, leaving their victims in a permanent vegetative state, and thus are often referred to as "soul-sucking fiends", rendering a person an 'empty-shell'. Dementors were closely associated with Azkaban, as they were formerly employed by the British Ministry of Magic as the prison guards, and were not known to permanently inhabit any other location.

There are certain defenses one can use against Dementors, specifically the Patronus Charm. Dementors hold no true loyalty, except to whoever can provide them with the most people to feed on. They seemingly cannot be destroyed, though their numbers can be limited if the conditions in which they multiply are prevented from forming, implying that they do die off eventually.

Personality: The world is terrible, and Takuth isn't the sort of blue who is going to make it any better. In fact, this blue dragon doesn't see the glass as half full, but always half empty. Honestly, he's surprised the glass is there--it's only a matter of time before something happens the glass breaks.

This little sunbeam of misery seems to exude negativity around him. He knows how to suck the joy out of any party, and can find something horrible in any happy situation. Oh, someone had a flight? Well, they'll probably just break up anyway as soon as a shinier tail comes waltzing along. Oh, you got promoted to Wingsecond? Well, have fun with all that blood on your hands. I'm sure it'll be a real gas when you get the rest of us killed making a stupid call. Happiness is fleeting, and Takuth would rather not even bother with the charade.

Ah, but Takuth is well aware how his views of the world tend to make others uncomfortable. So it is, this dragon tends to keep himself quiet, and a bit distanced from others. It's not that he doesn't know how to be sociable--he actually is quite a dignified creature, despite his unpleasant life views, and does have some manners when he wishes--but he is not the sort to go out of his way to make friends. In fact, he's just fine over here, thank you. If you want to hang out with him, then you had best understand he isn't changing for anyone. He keeps others at arms length, and that's a perfect distance for him. It's not because he's shy, he just doesn't really care.

Those who can manage his negativity, might well find a dragon who can be cold. While he has empathy, all dragons do, he certainly isn't a bleeding heart. He will not throw himself in the way of danger to save someone who isn't his rider; he won't get upset when one of his clutchmates comes crying because they got into some sort of fight or are sporting a broken heart. He just can't bring himself to really care about anyone besides his own hide or his own rider. If his rider has an emotional break down, or his rider is distressed, you can bet that Takuth's soft underbelly can be exposed; his rider's joy can and will sometimes rub off on Takuth... though he will likely always be a bit of a downer.

As he grows, though, this blue will be found to be a reliable worker. He does not necessarily question his orders. He has no real ambition, but he will follow his rider's lead if they're a bit more gung-ho about responsibility. When he is put to a task, Takuth will follow it through to the end. He isn't the sort to shirk his duties, and in fact looks down on those who do.

At his core, Takuth is a very dignified creature. He doesn't do silly. He doesn't do fun. Bathing for him is practical -- no, he isn't going to swim because he enjoys it, but because it is cooling him down. He isn't getting oiled to show off, but because it keeps him from itching. No, he isn't going to parade around or act a fool. Laughter, jokes, games--find someone else because Takuth is not the sort of blue who is interested in that. Hmph. The only way he'd tolerate such a thing was if his rider truly wished him such an indignity.

Positive Traits: Hard-Working, Dignified, Efficient
Negative Traits: Cold, Aloof, Negative
User ImageUser Image

Adult Size: 28'
Physical Attributes: Takuth could well be considered an elegant beast. He is tall for his color, and a bit long, too. He has long legs, long arms, and a long tail. He moves well on the ground, and his flight is smooth. He has an exceptionally long flame when he does learn to flame.

Additional Notes:
This baby is a sucker for chocolate. If there's something that will get him to stop in his tracks, it's that sweet stuff. He shouldn't necessarily have it, especially as a baby hatchling, but he will want it. Rider beware.

Ultimately, he is like putty when it comes to his rider. Whatever he wishes, Takuth will be there at his command. As he grows, someone out there might well worm their way into his cold and negative hearts--but whoever that might be has quite a challenge to warm him to the idea of affection. Chasing will be rare, or at the very least, less a matter of hearts, and more a matter of using someone for a little stress relief. Nothing more, nothing less.

Theme Song: Life is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back by Meat Loaf
Egg: This small, pale green and yellow dotted egg leans against one of its siblings. Those who approach may find themselves strangely tired.

Why Me? Maddeck and Takuth are a pair woven together by practicality. Takuth is one of the more serious dragons in the clutch, and he doesn't want some crying child, or some over-emotional ray-of-sunshine. No, this blue wants someone who already knows who they are, and what they want out of life. Maddeck seems to have this covered. While the blue has no interest in his rider's choice of profession, and has no real ambition or drive, he is at least pleased that Maddeck chose a practical career. Not something odious like a Harper, or something fanciful like a jewelry maker; at least when they get hurt (because Takuth knows it is their inevitable fate) Maddeck can at least patch them up and remain calm.

How good of him.

Where Takuth has a rather negative outlook on life, he will appreciate Maddeck's introversion and logical nature. This blue will prefer to remain solely with him, and it appears neither of them prefer to be around crowds. They both are known to be a bit socially awkward, but Takuth would never judge Maddeck and finds him to be nothing more than a hardworking gentleman. Takuth, in turn, prefers the company of His above all else. They might be alone together, but they will always have one another.

Both rider and dragon are hardworkers and will be known to be reliable, if perhaps, not the most cheerful. There is hope that Maddeck might learn to drag Takuth into a bit of fun and to be less a stick-in-the-mud. On the flip side, Takuth nows that Maddeck won't mind his dragon's negative life view; he's certainly not a blue overwhelmed by emotion or strong feeling, and his aloof ways won't hurt or offend His. His rider is too clever and understanding for all that.

Weyrling training will provide a good opportunity for both rider and dragon to be forced out of their comfort zones. Even if neither changes, there is no doubt they will make a great asset to whichever Wing they wind up in.

Rider - Green Fintrath // Mapmaker, HarperHall spy
Last update: 1/6/2019

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Name: Lhuzana
Age: 42
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Aromantic Bisexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Jny Harper, Maps and exploration, HarperHall spy
Physical Description:
Overall, she is not a remarkable-looking person.

In in size, she is only on the tall side of medium with a slender, wiry frame and broad shoulders, as well as a straight back. She has the confident air of someone much larger than herself. She does not throw her weight around, nor does she shrink back from conflict, real or implied. Her bearing and good posture could have come from noble breeding just as easily as intellectual studies.

With ash-blond hair, which features almost silver highlights, her greying temples and intermittent streaks are not readily noticeable. She keeps it long and it falls into natural curls; it could be wavy if she styled it or wild with ringlets if she did not.

Regarding her beauty, she has regular features that are merely pleasant to look at and even easily forgettable. She has no abnormal or striking features. Her body is tanned all over, including her face, but her skin has taken a only a moderate amount of weathering over the Turns. As a result of this and the fact that she rarely frowns or smiles, she has a minimum of wrinkles except around her eyes. She will likely age gracefully. As such, she could be any age between twenty-five and fifty. She can disappear into a crowd because she could be anybody. That is exactly the kind of person HarperHall likes to employ as a spy!

Clothing has typically not been an indulgence she could afford. That is to say, her life has been more or less nomadic, and over the Turns has on several occasions had to leave with little more than the clothes on her back. Regarding personal possessions as something she needs like she needs a dramatic romance, nevertheless she does enjoy dressing up for a Gather on the HarperHall's token, and since moving to the Weyr has enjoyed that permanence that would allow her to keep her own laying around. Or in a sturdy armoire acquired with her own hard-earned token.

Personality:
A cold fish on the outside, she is very hard to get to know. Though she relies on emotions as little as possible, she is just as easily caught up in them as anyone else. She just tries her utmost to set them aside for "more important" motives.

In her down time, she does not connect with people very easily. For those she cares deeply for, she may even show a barely restrained passionate side. She hates feeling awkward and unsure of herself, out of control. But she has been harmed in the past prefers passion that lasts for a night. Her nomadic origins and career have forced her to quickly move from place to place, a lifestyle that further supported her "single yet unavailabile" status in the past. So many turns have now passed that, now that she is stationed at Western Weyr, she does not know any other way to be when it comes to personal relationships. So she rarely seeks or nurtures them. Perhaps her fleeting hope will be that she will not need to bother with it.

At work she uses logic and practicality whenever possible. She prefers to do things "by the book," and she would defend "the book" because sometimes those rules provide the most practical approach. This can make her seem rather rigid, however, she will not waste resources on a doofy plan, even if it follows the rules, because she realizes that rules are merely a guideline to follow when in doubt. She will take even poorly timed new information seriously and act accordingly. As she takes the side of objectivity, she will bluntly offer her reasons for a decision or revision, and can at times be rather callous. She does not care about who is right or wrong, just the result of the revised plan. She does not take offense or get defensive when she is wrong. Her lack of reaction may actually surprise people who wanted to get a rise out of her.

It should not be said aloud that she regards people and dragons as objects or commodities, but when at work on a plan involving statistics and charts, they sort of are. That said, for those she is responsible for, she shows an intense loyalty and protectiveness. Those who have witnessed this have whispered the nickname "Mama Wher."

As an interesting and seemingly contradictory quirk, she has a problem with authority-- not because she challenges it, but because she knows freedom and lawlessness. She trusts the law through practice over the merit of individuals. She may find that Western Weyr has people of a different kind, who do rule by merit, or at least the choice of the people. As such she may come to respect it and its government, and support it freely. Only time will tell.

Positive Trait List: Honest, Responsible, Patient, Protective, Logical, Reserved
Negative Trait List: Callous, Aloof, Too objective, Loose cannon (to an extent)
Myers-Briggs: ESTJ, Protectors: Overseers

History:
Lhuzana's childhood was spent with one of the caravans of Western, who were friendly with and traded with Zanoma Camp. She was accustomed to dragons and enjoyed their strong and watchful presence. Traveling meant long hours under the sun. She learned a variety of skills, such as tending to the oxen and humans alike with basic first aid, repair work on the wagons, pitching camp, and selling wares.

She was sent to HarperHall because she showed an aptitude for drawing scenery, and her impeccable sense of direction lead to very accurate map making (for a child). She came highly recommended (with letter of recommendation) by the Harper traveling with her train at the time.

She returned home once she walked the tables, and while she fully intended to return to her old life, she came back subtly changed and never quite fit in ever again. However, she continued her new map making trade in her spare time, riding a runnerbeast (bought with her new Harper's salary) so that she could wander or stop as needed to continue her sketching. She would probably continue to do this for the rest of her life, with little interest in obtaining her Mastery, if not for several factors. Her training came at a cost and with a firm order: that she must send information back to the Hall very discreetly. She hates this part of her job. However, it came with a perk in the form of a firelizard egg; she can not say they never gave her anything worthwhile for her troubles. She loves and even dotes on her little Brown, Drift.

Later, at the age of 23 she Impressed Green Fintrath at Western and later joined Zanoma Camp. She fed information to HarperHall about them, too. She still hated spying, even though these people seemed more like distant relations than the close family of her caravan.

Fintrath, bless her heart, came from a clutch of eggs that will be detailed once clutch records are assigned.
Lhuzana did not believe she would ever Impress, but she could not stay away, either. From the Stands she watched people she knew both closely and distantly find their forever partner, and the play of emotion displayed so clearly upon their faces. Then she learned just how strong a dragon's will can be when one hatchling made her way to the Stands and creel up at Lhuzana. It was-- and still is-- awe-inspiring. All of this went into her report, of course.

Fintrath's name echoed through her mind at a whisper, as if uncertain who might accidentally hear. It sounded different than an actual sound, but was just as muffled as a mumbling child, to Lhuzana. When their eyes met the fog evaporated immediately and Fintrath trumpeted for all to hear. I am Fintrath! Lhuzana is mine and nobody else's!

Live in the moment, plan for the future. She has at least two living children. As a dragonrider, she was able to abort at any time without repercussion. But she chose to have them because she believes that children are important for the future, perhaps more so than dragons and their riders! But she did not raise them or try to keep in contact with them. Instead, once each was old enough to be weaned, she left them in the care of the caravan while she flew off to explore the islands or escort the caravans. To her firstborn, her old mapmaking companion the runner was given, however.

Quote:
Transferred to Western Weyr after Threadfall's return. She had been an explorer, but Fintrath was determined to fight Thread. To please her dragon she came to the Weyr, but feels trapped by the lifestyle.

She has a third child confirmed to have died in the first waves of Threadfall. Perhaps that is part of the reason for her decision to try to live at the Weyr: to protect the children of Pern.

Fintrath 01

User Image

Name: Fintrath
Age: 19
Color: Green
Size: 24 feet (7.3 meters)
Physical Description: On the larger side of average, she is not remarkable in stature or ability. She is only of average speed, dexterity, and agility. Her coloration is a soft dark green with paler green tiger stripes on neck, legs, and tail. Their hues are not remarkably bright, dark, or pale. There is no special sheen or shimmer aside from what a well-oiled hide might show. In other words, she does not stand out in any given crowd. Anyone who is familiar with dragons could even find her arrogance rather inappropriate.
Personality: Rather militant, sometimes she is the one who motivates Lhuzana. Rising early, training, eating etc.; it does not matter what it is. Shameless, she is not afraid to annoy Lhuzana at an inappropriate time, or bugle it out for all to hear. Sometimes she may even use expletives, most of which she does not properly understand, much to Lhuzana's chagrin and everyone else's amusement.

When it comes to humor, she is rather literal-minded and cannot appreciate it for herself. But she does know when she is the butt of a joke or when she has done something funny. She does not take offense, for there are few besides another dragon who would go up against an angry Green. That much, and the fact that they are cowards to deride her, she can understand. It makes her stiffly proud to know that they are merely ants compared to her.

This self-satisfied attitude carries over to when she Rises, and she finds most males to be worthy of her contempt only.

Though she is absolutely thrilled to be a part of a Weyr like Western, she does find it a bit more constraining than desired. She is used to traveling, "roughing it," training and fighting Thread only as needed. Though she can be considered militant, she does miss the freedom that a Weyr certainly cannot provide, no matter how non-traditional it is. That is where Lhuzana comes in, reminding her that they serve a greater purpose, even if they are stuck protecting complete strangers who would never pay them personally for their hard work. In this way, Lhuzana keeps her grounded, so that the anchoring goes both ways.

R'ulfr 01
Rider // Blue Isbranth
Last update: 2018 12 17

User Image
Name: R'ulfr
Age: 45
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Appc Beastcraft (llamas)

Physical Description:
R'ulfr is nothing short of striking in appearance, but it is not through flashiness or social and political exploits. A tall and sturdy rider, he has a strong but quiet disposition that is apparent in his stance. He wears the High Reaches blue with pride, trimmed in lined brown leather and heavy black fabrics and regional knits. Wool and furs come from llamas or traded from his own family's stock.

His naturally dark skin is deeply creased at the corners of his light-brown eyes, which are more used to squinting in harsh mountain weather than widening in the warmth of the Weyr. Long, pony-tailed tawny hair is streaked with shocks of white, possibly more so from making close calls than his age alone has otherwise earned. Yes, the beard is braided, and no, he will not part with it unless ordered to do so.

Personality:
Loyal to the Weyr in general if not to specific riders, he knows his place as the rider of a lesser chromatic dragon and has proven himself time and again as a dependable wingrider. What happens in the air does not relate directly to what happens on the ground, however. He does not get chummy with his wingmates unless personality on the ground has earned this kind of behavior. Likewise, just because a flight is happening does not mean he cannot choose a partner. Any weyrmate he may have at the time gets his attentions alone. These traits have understandably caused some rifts with other riders over the Turns.

Positive Trait List Logical, Thorough, Practical, Punctual, Loyal, Integrous.
Negative Trait List Too quiet about his feelings and opinions but also shares too honestly, tactless; Married to his work; Traditional to the point of hidebound
Myers-Briggs ISTJ, Protectors: Examiner

History:

Rathoulfer and his first love Garmeyla grew up together, having come from the same small Hold in the High Reaches mountains. It was, and continues to be, a multi-family and many-generational effort. It is one of several Holds in the region specializing in sturdy pack llamas that produce silky, high-quality wool. The herds need minimal shepherding but the life is hard: the weather is unpredictable, the terrain treacherous. Only the strongest beasts and humans survive for long, and some among his family can be counted among the lost, including his father, two siblings, and a number of cousins. Garmeyla's family suffers similar numbers, and she spent much of her time as a child huddled up with Rathoulfer and his siblings when everybody was very young.

His family also known for dragonriders who knew how to either take orders or rise quickly in the ranks. It had its own dangers, to say the least. Having Impressed a blue, Rathoulfer, now R'ulfr, set aside any ambition he may have possessed, though politics and ranks never interested him as much as his craft. Blue came almost as a relief. Then, with visions of making harrowing rescues in the snow and ice, even these fantasies of being a Searchrider were dashed when Isbranth's aptitudes fell short. It was a rough beginning, but he still felt immense pride as a dragonrider and put his all into being the best he --and Isbranth-- could be.

R'ulfr thought that someday Weyr life would prove to be stable enough to start a family. It was a hold-born wish, perhaps. After he had graduated his classes therefore, R'ulfr was young enough to believe that he and Garmeyla could "make it work." Over the Turns they had several children together, including one daughter and three sons: Raumaney, Ronilthou, Rothgar, and Raunilguo, respectively. But they were born spaced apart because their parents spent much time apart. Eventually both parents realized that their lives and personalities had grown too different from when they were children. This was perhaps the biggest let-down yet, and he had trouble accepting the truth. But like the other unavoidable disappointments in his life, he pressed on and made the best of it. So their kids, including Rothgar, enjoyed both the life of a Weyrbrat and a shepherd-brat. Rothgar enjoyed the quirky llamas at home, reminding Garmeyla of his father, but as he grew older yearned for a dragon and the life of a rider.

Eventually Garmeyla did more than distance herself, connecting with a BeastCrafter whose work schedule was hectic but aligned with hers and most importantly always present in the Hold. They had a daughter together, Gamlee. It was perhaps the birth of her daughter that made R'ulfr finally give up on her. He had a daughter about a year later when he tried to start a family with a lower caverns woman named Monalie, but her promiscuity was too painful for him to endure. What he did not leave behind was his tie with their daughter Ronalthie, and she, like other half-siblings, enjoyed life a little differently than her other Weyrbred peers.

The return of Threadfall was not very surprising to R'ulfr. He believed the stories and has trained extensively most of his life. He was ready when it first fell about 8-9 months ago. He has not been wounded or scored yet, though it is common enough so he has mentally prepared for it.

Though R'ulfr has three sons and two daughters that he knows of; one or two others may exist from his time as a "brat," but within a Weyr it is not always possible to be certain. One thing that is mostly true, is R'ulfr's loyalty to one mate at a time. Of the ones he knows, his children were always sired with his weyrmate at that time, or a good friend usually conceived as a result of a mating flight. He enjoys a fairly close relationship with his kids, all things considered, and as far as he knows they are all proud to know their father well.

To R'ulfr's pride, each of his rider children have survived threadfall so far. R'thou was badly burned across the face by another's dragon, but he is healing well. Rothgar has been studying as a BeastCrafter with the Weyr's herd and was recently officially Searched. And his youngest rider offspring, R'guo, the one he worries about the most, is doing well in their first adult dragon threadfighting wing. If Rothgar Impresses too, will he enjoy similar good fortune? He is so reckless, angering a watch-Wher that one time and suffering claws to the face.

Every year on his mother's Nameday R'ulfr brings a tiered basket of steaming-hot bubbly and meat pies. Sometimes some of the kids can make it over and even Garmeyla and her mate have made appearances as well. He has brought his youngest daughter, Ronalthie, on occasion, and she seems to get along well with Garmeyla's daughter Gamlee. And they all can have a nice lunch together by the fire, catching up on life and how the children have grown. Even though it may be for just a short afternoon, this togetherness seems to make the matriarch quite joyous and content no matter how loud the wind howls outside.

Isbranth is a collection of desaturated blues. Medium-blue predominates his upper head, neck, body and tail, corresponding underparts in pale powder-blue. Sails are the same pale blue, with medium-blue wing arms and tines. Along the wing edges are medium-blue "torn" markings that run parallel to the tine. His spine ridges are desaturated as well, but in dark-blue. The markings of his face are a bit more complicated. The bridge of his nose is medium-blue, the muzzle and cheeks pale. Around his eyes, the brow up to his head-knobs pale, separated from the rest with a medium-blue curly-cue that touches the corner of his eye.

Personality:
Subtly elegant and frosty coloring aside, Isbranth is a nervous creature. He avoids conflict with other dragons and humans if at all possible. Mating flights involving a green are of course one of the few exceptions. He takes orders without question, but sometimes his anxiety, which R'ulfr has actually managed to curb over time, prevents stellar performance. For example, his shallower breathing must be mitigated with special breathing exercises; with his deep chest (for a blue) as a counter-balance, he is only of average stamina for a blue of his size. And his training as a search dragon was short-lived and nearly disastrous, as his empathic gift lead him to sense too many "possible candidates."
