Kyt of Green Rath



This is the weyr of Kyt. There isn't much here. It's kept neat and organized, her filled journals stacked neatly nearby her bed. Another journal, half filled with her tiny print lays open on a table near to Rath's perch. She is usually found within consumed with her writing, or transferring old records over onto new paper in order to preserve the wisdom contained within. Her door is often open to visitors but Rath encourages you to be careful not to startle her rider.

Physical Description


Age: 21

Description: Kyt is a small woman, standing only 5’3” at her fullest height. She has a small to medium build, with little or no muscles to show. Her skin is lightly tanned from years of living in the Weyr, with small soft freckles brushed like a raccoons mask around her eyes and across her nose. Her hair, once a vibrant gold, has lightened into a pale straw color with almost no pigment. It brushes her shoulders and is usually held back in a small clip at the base of her neck if not left loose. Her eyes are a lively pale blue framed by long black lashes.

Wanna Get to Know Me?

Her personality, like her physical stature, is small and soft. She is very quiet, often to the point of being withdrawn. She very seldom speaks, preferring to observe instead. Though she is generally quiet if someone can become close enough to her to convince her that they have no intention of abandoning or hurting her, she opens up and shows a very different side.
Once she opens up to someone she has shown to have an excellent sense of humor and an attractive smile. She is very opinionated and loves to share those opinions with those she holds closely. Even then she is not very talkative, only speaking when she feels it is worth the breath it takes to say something.
Kyt's quiet demeanor makes her easy to push around. She can seem almost desperate to prove that she'd do anything to make a person like her. It all loops back to her feeling like she caused her parents to leave and abandon her. She feels as if everyone she meets will eventually do the same. She's very envious of groups of friends. So much so that she will find any way possible to avoid them. Even if she knows nothing about them.
She has a keen interest in writing, something that –combined with her preference to observe rather than speak- drew the Harper’s attentions to her.
Kyt has an amazing talent for remembering the small details that most others miss. She is also very argumentative over these details if missed by others.
Since becoming bonded to Rath she has begun to work on being a bit more outgoing and less of a doormat, but it will take many more turns before she can break the worst of her habits.

Are you sure? It's been a long story

Kyt was born the middle child of a large family in Fort Hold. As such she had little to no attention from her parents. An uncle, on her mother’s side, took her under his wing and taught her all he knew as far as life in general. He tried to instill in her the importance of watching the world around her at all times, so that nothing that could be important was missed. At a very young age Kyt became fascinated with dragons and fire lizards. Every day she would slip away to watch any dragon riders who might have arrived as they cared for their partners.

When Kyt was 8 her family packed up and left because of her father. After his own failure to impress he had grown jaded and bitter and he often picked fights with riders who came through. Fearing that he would go to far one day his wife finally convinced him to leave to head south. This sparked a huge fight between her father and her uncle, who demanded that they leave her in his care. Her mother, not wanting to stay and fight any longer agreed to leaving her behind. After that she slowly stopped speaking freely, feeling that she had done something wrong to make them not want her anymore. Her Uncle did his best to raise her right, but she never opened up to others like she did around him. Instead she started to filter her observations into very detailed accounts of day to day life.

She eventually attracted the attention of the Harpers with her very detailed observations and keen memory during classes. She often argued with other Harper apprentices about small details they forget. During a Search in her 15th turn, many were surprised that she was Searched, and many more were simply surprised to find that she still existed.

Kyt adapted to Weyr life fairly well, though her dreams were shattered at realizing that candidate life wasn't all glitz and glamor. Still she enjoyed it nonetheless. She was upset to find that she had much less time to write and she had trouble adapting to having to interact much more than she was comfortable with.

Three turns came and went, each new clutch bringing hope followed by crushing devastation as she failed to Impress with each time she stood. Her third turn at the Weyr became rough for her, her spirits at an all time low when another clutch came to the sands. With little hope for herself she stood, trying to be optimistic for herself and others that day. She walked off the Sands complete that day, with the almost comically small Rath at her side.


She still uses her free time to help the Harpers with archiving, copying old texts carefully over for future preservation. After all, nothing is learned without first looking to the past.

Physical Description: Rath is tiny by all standards. Almost comically so, even at her full growth, meaning most of her pursuers in a flight outsize her enormously. Her wing-span is longer than normal proportions, but she has adapted remarkably well with them. This 'handicap' has actually increased her speed and agility, making for a great chase during flights, though her size shortens her stamina more than most. Her hide is a brilliant and vibrant green, with no markings to speak of. Her underbelly is a slightly more muted tone, almost a mint color.

What Makes Rath Tick?

It almost seems as if her personality stole her size. Rath is fully aware that she is a green, but she carries the attitude of a gold. She is the bite and vigor to Ky't's silent wisdom. When she isn't in the air flaunting her agility and speed, then she's lazing around the weyr complaining about Kyt hiding in a hole [in her own words] when she could be stirring up some fun. She carries all the wisdom and logic of her rider, but she posses the ability to make snap decisions making the perfect counterbalance to Kyt's need to analyze all possiblities.

There is no place that Rath is not willing to go. This dragon loves to explore, she wants to know where everything is and she thrills to the adventure of discovery. If given free reign, it is possible Rath would just start flying and never stop. She especially loves to explore in a group, finding comfort in numbers.

Rath is an excellent dragon to have your back. Once she has befriended you, her loyalty is as solid as a rock. Rath will get fiercely protective over those she considers friends, and she will go to significant trouble the help those that she cares about.
