Kissa always was trying to help her brother with his social skills, but he'd simply rather be alone in his room all the time than talking to people. She shook her head at his response,[/color

"Kaari, if you ever want a boyfriend you need to be at least somewhat charismatic. You could've talked about the skirt, the neckpiece, when you made the outfits, how you made them. You really need to learn how to talk to people." After she was done with her lecture, the girl that had previously entered left the class again. Kissa vaguely recalled the girl from last year. Her name was like 'Sam' or something. The girl smelled worried, but at the same time anxious. As the girl got up, Kiss a called out to her,

                                                                    "Where are you-"
But the girl had already left, leaving her scent behind her. If she was skipping, it wasn't smart to come and then leave, as the professor, like most shifters, could smell she had been in the room recently. After a few minutes more of awkward silence in the classroom, the professor entered, apologizing for being late. He then began a brief lesson, to which Kiss a listened to very eagerly. She needed to catch up, she had missed the first day after all. Kissa w asnt surprised when Mr. Akkerman approached her and her brother, asking why they missed the first day. Though Kissa was tempted to force her brother to answer, she wasn't that mean.

"You see, Sir, my brother fell ill a few days prior to the start of school. I decided to stay back with him until he was better. We left as soon as possible, but only made it here late last night. Apologies if we missed anything important, we would be happy to make up any work." Kissa looked at her brother for confirmation. She knew he probably would rather paint or design than make-up work, but she knew he wouldn't argue, especially because that would require more talking than absolutely neccessary.

After yesterday's great day, it almost felt surreal to be back in his classroom, but Ven wasn't complaining. He needed to speak to his two most troublesome students and he knew that they'd bolt if they saw him approaching them outside class. But he couldn't let these things go.

The weather didn't really help his mood; Ven could smell the rain that was approaching it made him all the more determined to get to the Academy before he got trapped in it. Thankfully, it seemed like the weather kept many people inside and Ven managed to get to class without too much trouble. Setting his things down on his desk, he inspected the class to make sure everything was in its place before writing the day's topic on the board and leaning against his desk in wait.

Reporting to the lesson she would swallow as she would shift out of the wolf form and just wait for Ven's punishment,
oh, how she was waiting for him to rage because she had skipped the lesson, despite her having a good reason to have left the class she should have waited till he was present before skittering off. Although she should have regrets of this act, Sand truly had none as this was how she had met Reynard, the very thought of him pinking her cheeks before she noticed Ven was already in class " Hey pappa bear, I wanted to apologize for skipping class, the reasons for this does not excuse the negligence to my learning, but i.. i had to make sure to report the incident in the forest, so I went to report it to the captain of the guard, I did not wish for someone else to get hurt in the forest if someone had already been attacked, so you must understand the urgency I could not delay it else the scents and evidence may have been lost.. anyhow my attentions are yours great pappa Bear" she would smile and pat his shoulder before sitting down in her seat " Lay your teaching upon me so I may reach my potential with thy wisdom"

    -Enter Gin into Shifter Classroom-

Gin sauntered into the Shifter Classroom in his wolf form. He was tired. It had been several days since his last rest โ€“ if you could call passing out from exhaustion โ€˜restโ€™ โ€“ and he was beginning to feel the effects. He arrived just in time to hear Sandโ€™s little speech. Gin was amused by her use of the term โ€˜Papa Bearโ€™ and had to agree, he was a rather good father figure, even if he didnโ€™t have any kids yet. He knew he was in for an ear full, he hadnt received one after being found in the forest, but then again he hadnt seen Ven since then...

Walking slowly down the center aisle, he headed for the front of the class to lie down on the floor just in front of the first row of seats. Resting his head on his massive paws, he sighed, his mismatched eyes moving from Sand, who smelled suspiciously of fox, to Ven, who smelled suspiciously of Gia.

โ€˜It seems romance is in the airโ€ฆโ€™ With Ven and Gia finally getting close, much to Giaโ€™s delight he was sure, and Sand courting that male Fox from the Combat Class, and Sokea kissing him, he had to wonder if there was some sort of sickness going aroundโ€ฆHe didnโ€™t know if he was ready to fall in love.

Kaari spent the past few days painting in various places. The market, the forest, and such other places. He loved all sorts of environments; he did have quite the taste for places where a multitude of people were gathered. In such paintings, he tried to capture what socially interacting with people looked like. They were quite spot on, capturing the emotions of the situation to a T. Alas this didn't actually help with Kaari's actual social skills. One day, he hopes, he'll be able to embody the spirit he puts into his paintings and project them into real life.

As always, Kissa accompanied Kaari as they made their way to the Shifter classroom. She lightly sniffed the air, noticing that her roommate had already been there. Sand is most likely already in the classroom. Kissa looked at her brother, wondering if he had been assigned a roommate yet. She hoped if so, it was an extremely hot guy to push Kaari out of his oh-so-tightly confined comfort zone. That was what he needed, really. Someone, a real man, to teach him how to at least maintain eye contact while speaking. Kissa, by this point in life, had just about given up on teaching her brother how to talk to people. They had arrived at the Shifter Classroom, and Kissa opened the door; the twins took their seats next each other, redirecting their focus to the professor.

She would wait just long enough to allow the fairy to rise from her resting place, then Jesse transformed, allowing the Not-Bug enough time to land upon her back and get comfortable before making a dash towards the classroom.

Jesse had a good idea as to where the classroom was, but had she remained in her human form, she might just have gotten rather turned around - and she was already running late... At least in her Fennec Form, it would become much easier to differentiate the human smells from those of her Knit and sure enough, within several minutes of skittering between the legs of unsuspecting students, she would slide past the doorway leading into the Shifter Class...

"I'm gonna turn back, okay?" Panting, she glanced back to see that her companion was still there, then, making sure the fairy wouldn't be cast aside as she became human again, Jesse would return to her human form, straightening out her clothing before reaching for the door handle to let herself in...

    ~ Enter Shifter Classroom ~

Jesse wasn't surprised to find the classroom already bustling with students...She lifted her right hand up to her left shoulder, hoping for a reassuring touch from her little friend whilst perhaps offering a more stable platform for the fairy to move to as she stepped inside and closed the door...

Her eyes would scan the room, falling upon a wolf laid on the floor and three others in human form, her eyes turning to focus upon the individual she felt must have been their tutor before making a quiet nod in his direction...

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to be late...I got a little caught up in the library and..." she trailed off, her ears flicking outwards before she allowed her left hand to reach for her tail which now curled around her legs...

The sudden shift in weight was a tad rough, but she would get comfortable once more. She was thrown around before being placed on top of Jesse's fox form, clutching her ears while the female sprinted to her class. It was nice to have the wind in her hair and such, though it was somewhat distracting her from her beauty rest. The sound of several students getting out of her way made her guess that they were going at a fast enough speed to take most by surprise. The hard part of the journey seemed to have been over thankfully. Just as she was getting comfortable again, Jesse was going to change forms once again. "I will be fine." She reassured the human as she could feel her height increasing and then going through a doorway into another room.

                                                          -- Enter Shifter Classroom --

Before Jesse had fully stepped in the classroom, the small female shimmered briefly, hiding her form as she had done before revealing herself to the human. Not to say that everybody in this castle or strange building were truly evil, it was just to remain on the safe side. Now fully invisible to the naked eye and comfortable again, the fairy on the girl's shoulder would gently pull on the hand to cover her, dozing off once more. Since it was just another class, that meant she would be safe and protected underneath the hand of Jesse. It was just a class about some mathematics or literature of some kind, right? Nothing too strenuous so she could continue to rest until the eve greeted those in the realm once more.

It didn't take long for the students start trickling in, most arriving either minutes before class started or right on the dot in their fully shifted forms. Of the students Ven was especially determined to see, Sand was the first to arrive, the scent of the city captain guard so thick on her that she couldn't have left him earlier than this morning. She approached him, trying to explain her reasons why she left last class, but Ven only sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, practically twitching at the 'pappa bear' moniker. "Sand, sit down. I'll deal with you after class." He might've been sterner than usual, his annoyance at her skipping returning, but he reigned it in, knowing that he'd regret it later.

Gin arrived after her, but rather than deign them with his human presence, he remained shifted and on the floor in front of them and Ven sent him a reprimanding glare. "And I don't care what you have in mind for later Gin, I want you to stay behind after class. Now take your seat, class is about to start." He'd didn't try to lower his voice, that wouldv'e been futile with this class. After sending a look that dared him to argue, Ven then turned to the rest of the class, including the newly arrived royal siblings, claws clicking on the desk impatiently as he waited for them to settle down and be quiet before he began to speak.

"Today we'll build upon what we did last class. I'm sure you all practised what we did," he looked at them all sternly, "So we're going to-" he was interrupted by the appearance of Jesse, who'd been absent until then, who looked and smelled mortified. Ven sighed but he gestured for her come in, nodding at an empty seat. There was something slightly off about her, but he couldn't be sure exactly. It wasn't the time to think about it though, he had a class to run. "You haven't missed anything yet Ms. Randall, take your seat."

The rest of the class went on smoothly and Ven took his time explaining the concepts, demonstrating the steps himself and answering questions before dedicating the next half of the class to the practical aspect of the theory, always the favourite and almost always chaotic, which was only expected when one had a classroom filled with transforming shifters. As usual, Ven walked around supervising his students and making sure they had a good grasp of what they were doing before dismissing them once the class is over. As his students filed out, he kept an eye on Gin and Sand, calmer now than earlier after the familiarity of teaching. Once the class was empty except for the three of them, he addressed his female student. "Sand, I want to talk to you first," he began, waiting for her reply.

Jesse would quietly make her way to the allocated seat, her hand slipping the little Fae into a pocket where she could rest before listening as the man who smelt quite musky to her keen senses explained they would continue what they covered in a previous class - well, that was a good start... She was unprepared as it was, but would sit quietly and listen before feel a little more confident when it was announced they were doing a practical. Jesse wasted little time in taking on her Fennec Form, ensuring he was able to produce a small, leather belt around her tiny waist within which the fairy could continue to rest comfortably...

The Class seemed to end before she knew it, but Jesse would take it all in her stride, deciding to remain in her fox form when she left and head back to her room to read.

And so it happened that Sand was stopped in leaving the classroom by Ven.
With her eyes upon Ven, she would give a sigh she had struggled with the lesson having skipped the previous one, but she was definitely willing to make up for her previous negligence, that being said Sand was eager to go and visit Reynard, still concerned about him clammy forehead, " Yes Professor papa bear I am all ears, I told you earlier I want to apologize for skipping class, the reasons for this does not excuse the negligence to my learning, but i.. I had to make sure to report the incident that had happened in the forest, so I went to report it to the captain of the guard, I did not wish for someone else to get hurt in the forest if someone had already been attacked, so you must understand the urgency...to you it may be that I were inpatient but I could not delay it else the scents and evidence may have been lost..i helped the Captain find his evidence and find who caused the distress..he has been found and dealt with...from this moment on i will study hard for I wish to focus on my skills to succeed in life...I am sorry though I should have waited and sought you out before I wandered off..."
Sand ears folded in a very apologetic manner.
She was sorry despite her wants to just make a dash for it on the desires to see Reynard again, Sand looked at the floor teary-eyed, with so much going on in the girl's mind and the fact she had not changed out of her damp clothes, Sand kept looking at the door as if pleading to the Bear to release her with a caution.

Ven rarely felt as exasperated as he did now with Sand. He knew from the start that she'd have trouble with this lesson, seeing as it referred back to the class she missed and tried to explain and be more clear in class but there was only so much he could do. Even though she was remorseful apologising for leaving the class, it was quit obvious that she didn't regret going out and helping one bit. Even so, she reeked of worry and impatience, practically vibrating in place with the need to leave and Ven couldn't help another sigh. Was he really that bad of a teacher? No, even if he was awful, there was clearly something else at work, possibly related to the fox that Sand smelled of? It smelled like she'd only left him for class. He'd better make this quick; he was stern but he wasn't cruel.

"Firstly, Sand," he began carefully, looking down at her strenly, "if the incident was so urgent, you should have done that the day before, not wait for the next day in the middle of class so the guard could've taken action earlier. What if someone got hurt in the half day that you didn't report? It's not that you were impatient, but you weren't impatient enough." He held his hand up to stave off any protests she might have had, shaking his head "It doesn't matter now, what's done is done, but what matters to me now is that you skipped an important class when you didn't have to. Why didn't you come back after making your report? I understand wanting to help, but did you even consider that whatever was out there could have harmed you? You've been my student for four years now, I expected better from you." Ven had to pause to breath here, forcing his worry and irritation down. He needed to keep a cool head. "You're going to come here tomorrow after your electives are done and we'll go over the lesson you missed. Don't complain," he was quick to say, "I saw how much you were struggling in class today. As for your actual punishment, I've spoken with the guard and decided since you're so eager to be helpful, you can spend your free days for the next two weeks following after the captain and the assisting them when they need. Maybe that will be a learning experience." He folded his arms and nodded at the door. "Now go, don't think I haven't noticed you can't wait to leave."

Once Sand left, Ven turned to approach the only student left in his class, Gin. This confrontation was probably long time coming, Ven noted, but he could only hope that Gin was willing to cooperate. Ven was fed up with the silence and reluctance to speak; he had to learn from the kid's first year roommate about his troubles with dreams! But this time, there was no way he'd let Gin get away with not answering questions. "So, Gin," he started, rather ominously as he sent Gina stern look that was bordering on a glare, lips pursed. "Do you want to tell me what's going on with you or do I have to ask your roommate about it?"

The lesson had been about as easy for Gin as it had been for Sand. Having missed class because of his trip to the infirmary, he hadnโ€™t known what the previous lesson was, therefore he couldnโ€™t build off of what he didnโ€™t know. Luckily for him, he was able to skate by with relative ease and soon the lesson was over. Slouched in his seat, he didnโ€™t arise to leave like everyone else when the class was dismissed. Glancing at Sand, he smirked a bit as she launched into an explanation for her actions and why she had skipped class without permission. He admired her passion, but considering the fact that she smelled like that Fox Shifter, who happened to be a Guard, he knew that her intentions werenโ€™t entirely pure.

To his amazement, Ven gave her the โ€˜punishmentโ€™ sheโ€™d deserved, which didnโ€™t turn out to be a punishment at all. Shaking his head a bit, Sand thanked โ€˜Papa Bearโ€™ for his guidance and promised to do better before practically slipping out the door โ€“ probably to go find the Fox Guard she smelled so acutely of. His amusement soon faded however, as Ven turned his stern look toward him.

In all his years as Venโ€™s student, heโ€™d never seen Ven so upset. While heโ€™d been irritated with Sandโ€™s behavior, Ven was clearly disappointed and upset with him. Hearing his inquiry, Ginโ€™s gaze narrowed a bit. What did Sokea have to with this? Scoffing a bit, he crossed his arms over his chest and looked away. โ€œIf youโ€™re talking about me sneaking out at night, thatโ€™s nothing to be concerned about, I can take care of myself.โ€ Deep down, Gin knew that this wasnโ€™t about the sneaking out โ€“ it was about him collapsing in the woods. With Sokeaโ€™s help, Ven had found him and taken him to the infirmary for treatment โ€“ his teacher had never seen him in such a state, at least not directly. While it might have been a shock for Ven, to find out that Gin did this on a regular basis, there was no other alternative.

When Ven didnโ€™t say anything, he glanced at his teacher and frowned. He knew he wasnโ€™t getting out of this little chat as easily as Sand had. He took several minutes to contemplate how to approach this lovely little topic of conversation before he blurted out three words that he knew would confuse his teacher. โ€œI donโ€™t sleep.โ€ Was all he said as he looked anywhere but at Ven. He didnโ€™t like talking about this and he especially didnโ€™t like admitting the weakness. But, it seemed he was effectively cornered.

Releasing a heavy sigh, he closed his eyes for a long moment, gritting his teeth. โ€œThink about the absolute worst nightmare youโ€™ve ever had in your life, Ven. Or better yet, think about the worst thing youโ€™ve ever experienced in your life. The death of a loved oneโ€ฆA battle during the warโ€ฆBeing attacked by someone intent on killing youโ€ฆโ€ He said, pausing for a brief moment. โ€œYou might have nightmares of those experiences, vivid dreams that make you relive the event. Itโ€™s not every night, but it happens. You wake up in a cold sweat, panting for breath, one the verge of screaming. Your heart is pumping and the adrenaline is flowingโ€ฆโ€ Gin knew that everyone had those dreams at some point or another, whether they were reliving a memory or experiencing a nightmare.

โ€œNow imagine thisโ€ฆevery night, when you lay down in bed and you close your eyes to sleep, you donโ€™t dream of those things, you experience them. And not just the worst things youโ€™ve ever seen or imagined but the actual possible futures of everyone around you - Their deaths, their murders, their pain. Slamming into your mind, over and over, stabbing the backs of your eyes as you try to sleep and rest and recharge only to be assailed by this never-ending flood of pain, destruction, heartbreak and despair. That is why I donโ€™t sleep. Because every time I close my eyes, I see that horror and experience it firsthand.โ€

Arising from his seat, his ears flat against his head, his tail swishing with agitation, he narrowed his gaze and balled his fists as he waited for Ven to say something, anything against what heโ€™d just revealed.

โ€œI donโ€™t sleep. I run myself into the ground until I collapse because that state of pure exhaustion is the only way I can rest without seeing those โ€˜visions from the Godsโ€™โ€ He said with utter disgust. He didnโ€™t know if Ven knew of his Oracle status and he didnโ€™t care โ€“ his Shifter Teacher had wanted to know โ€˜what was going on with himโ€™, so there it was. How Ven took the news, was up to him.

Gin's dismissive attitude was enough to raise Ven's metaphorical hackles (he wasn't a dog), but he forced himself not to react and remain silent, his clenched fists and sharp glare the only outward signs of his ire. His slient appoach seemed to work as after a few minutes, Gin finally blurted out that he couldn't sleep. Ven's eyebrows furrowed but he waited for Gin to elaborate; this was clearly he didn't like admitting from the way he studiously avoided his gaze and Ven wasn't going to make him uncomfortable if he was finally opening up.

Gin's next words were enough to make him grimace and he barely registered that he called him by his first name, which was rare enough that Ven usually took notice. He's had his fair share of nightmaresโ€”his parents and sister starving and hi nearly sharing that fate, as well as the few battles he took part in as a knight did not lead to peaceful dreamsโ€”and even though they were much rarer now, there were times when he still woke up with a gnawing hollow, or worse, numbness, in his gut. He shook his head slightly to disperse the images that Gin's all-too-knowing words had brought back to the forefront, but even then, cold dread still spread through him as he heard his student speak. The fact that his student was talking as if he was experiencing these things was bad enough, but Ven had a sinking feeling that there was more.

Whatever Ven had thought Gin was going to say, he was wrong; in fact, when Gin continued, it turned out that the reality was worse as his student described furiously in vivid detail exactly what he experienced every night, leaving Ven speechless in shock. The surge of anger that rose inside him when the shock finally (but not completely) wore off was to be expected, but the sudden protectiveness that Ven felt caught him off-guard, but it didn't matter. Not at the moment.

Approaching Gin carefully (who stood up in the midst of his confession), Ven wrapped an arm around his shoulders and mussed his hair, albeit more gently than he normally would. "You're an idiot Gin," he groaned emphatically, his eyes soft in contrast to his words. "Why didn't you say anything sooner instead of running around and exhausting yourself? We could've done something to help." But Ven wasn't surprised; given what little he knew of Gin's family life, he knew that if he was in his place, he would've remained silent as well, making his statement slightly hypocritical, but he wasn't so all he felt was concern and no small amount of guilt for being so blind. No matter how often Eli exasperated him with his unhealthy habits, at least his best friend was able to sleep when he needed, Gin didn't have that luxury. But there was something he could do. "Come on," he pulled back after squeezing slightly, to nod at the door. "We can deal with this after you've had a drink or two in you. On me, it sounds like you need it." He'd need to eat as well, but after this, Ven wasn't sure he wanted to leave the boy alone while he tried to whip something up.

Gin wasnโ€™t used to being comforted. So, when Ven reached out to embrace him, he wasnโ€™t 100% sure what to do. Growling a bit as Ven mussed his hair โ€“ he hated that โ€“ he frowned, his ears tipping back as he glared at his teacher. He shrugged at Venโ€™s words. He could have said something sooner, but that wasnโ€™t like him. He didnโ€™t ask people for anything โ€“ he knew better than that. But it seemed that Ven thought it would have been the right course of action. Feeling Ven squeeze his shoulder, surprisingly, Gin felt touched by the action. When was the last time someone had offered to comfort him like this? He couldnโ€™t rememberโ€ฆAside from Sokea and Gia, and now Ven, people tended to leave him alone, and for good reason โ€“ Gin typically wasnโ€™t a very nice guy.

Arching a brow at Ven as he told him to come along, he had to wonder what the hell his teacher was up to. Turning to follow Ven out of the classroom, he sighed. Heโ€™d promised Sokea that theyโ€™d talk after classโ€ฆ โ€œOkayโ€ฆbut I canโ€™t stay long. I have something I need to doโ€ฆโ€ He want about to tell Ven about his relationship troubles, but then again, if Ven got enough drinks in him, anything was possible.
