Note: Nenkani is a progressive umama, flavour interactions with her with that in mind, I guess? XD
Cerobi was doing her damnedest to not cling to her brother while they both settled into the pride, she needed to build a rapport with the other lionesses here if she was going to become truly comfortable and at home once again.. but today, she watched him for a few minutes, surrounded by lionesses.. and completely unable to hear any of them through the rain (and also very tired of being rained upon).. she gave herself a pass for the day and decided to push right through the group until she was beside her brother.
She didn't say anything, though, just looked very glad to be at his side. Her markings so closely resemble his own that, at the very least, she would not be seen as competing for a particular form of attention from him.
Nenkani had so hoped that when she woke up the rain would be done, but it wasn't. Standing in the rain, looking like a very unhappy drowned rat, the Umama tried her best to get herself mentally ready for the day ahead of them but it was a slow process.. and if she was going to do anything but stand there, it clearly remained to be seen.

As good as it was to be amongst the pride again, it was also profoundly odd. For weeks and months at a time, his only consistent company was Iyezi, aside from occasional interactions with rogues and, even more occasionally, creatures from other groups who were out and about for whatever reason. He hadn't been around so many others at once in a long, long time, and besides that was in an awkward, half-in half-out rank. Which made it all rather, well...awkward.
A part of him hoped to be mostly ignored, but he knew how everyone loved to talk, and like it or not, he happened to be interesting. It didn't surprise him to be approached, but it did surprise him that it was the three-legged Imbiza. He didn't let it show, however, and nodded politely in acknowledgement.
"Emeka." He didn't know everyone on sight, far from it, but some individuals were more notable than others. "I've...been better, but I've been worse, too. I had a bad fever a couple weeks ago, and I've just been tired since. And...sort of itchy."
Predictably, the newest Inselelo was gathering a lot of attention, still very much in the beginning phase of being poked and prodded by the females while they felt him out and decided whether or not they would request his...services. That, or just poking and prodding because they liked to poke and prod and see what the reaction would be. For some, new Inselele were just good entertainment.
"Slow indeed," he said with a grimace, turning his attention back to Faust - and Ahlaq as well. "This is wretched weather for travel. But as long as the strangeness keeps to the weather, I won't complain." After the report Nobuthongo had given and the story about the so-called 'Lake of Sighs,' Umkhombo was just happy that that hadn't opened up anywhere near their territory.

"Ah....I am Giruvegan," the new Inselelo offered with a bob of his head. He was learning rather quickly that his name was a bit of a mouthful compared to the other names in this pride, and it seemed like just another way for him to feel like he stuck out a bit. Not the worst thing in the world, to be honest. "It is a pleasure to meet you both, Ukufana and Khapha."
He was about to try and crack a joke about the vulture and his own unique markings when his sister bardged right in next to her. He didn't mind, to be honest; they were always very close, and having a reminder that he wasn't alone in his strange markings (like how some lioness would stare at him for far too long, ahem). "Ah, Cerobi!"
His eyes wandered over to a lioness that was a bit off to the side. She seemed a bit unsure of what was going on, which was understandable from the constant falling of rain. He noticed that an ahluke was attempting to speak with her, but they were both distracted by something.
And then he felt it, too. The moment that Cerobi spoke, it was like a little something passed between them. He felt some of the hairs at the end of his mane stick up, and in a way that he hadn't ever quite felt it, even after their home pride fell apart. "Stay sharp," he said to anyone around that could hear him, the white noise of the rain dulling his voice the further out it went.
"Swimming sounds awful," the dark tan lioness complained. Umutsuz was trying very hard to not let the anger consume her, but the constant feeling of drip, drip, and stuck fur to her ever corner was getting to her. She hadn't even been awake all that long, but who could sleep well in this weather? Her pale yellow eyes glanced around at some of the other lionesses, and it was clear that not all of them were nearly as miserable as her.
Before she could really offer up a curse to the sky, it was like it called back to her. It was suck a deep sound that it almost seemed quiet in the noise of the rain and mindless chatter all around them. Her ears flicked around, and for a moment she completely forgot about the rain. Her ears continued to swivel around her head as she looked around herself, over and over, trying to see if she could pinpoint just what the hell that soft sound was.

"Giruvegan," Ukufana repeated slowly to make sure she didn't butcher the name. It was as exotic as he was, that much was for sure! Ukufana had seen quite a few interesting looking creatures while out with Khapha but he certainly took the lion's share when it came to a multitude of markings.
As she was trying to memorize his name, a lioness budged her way through the little crowd that had gathered to stand beside Giruvegan. She looked strikingly similar and it didn't take her long to realize they were siblings.
"Oh! Hello," she said, turning her attention for the moment to the newcomer. "You must have joined with Giruvegan, huh? I"m Ukufana, this is-"
"Khapha," the vulture supplied, looking less and less thrilled to be sitting atop the zebra pelt clad lioness. Water dripped off his beak steadily onto the faded black and white fur and he shook his head from time to time to try to get it to stop.
"Interesting markings you two have," he added, finally saying what everyone had been thinking. He was quite fond of their appearance, though, with their talon-like paws and the wings on their backs. He ruffled his own wings a bit with delight but quickly regretted his decision as more water seeped into his feathers.
The warning from Giruvegan made Ukufana tilt her head a bit and as if on cue something slithered by her paws in the mud. She looked down, ready to strike at whatever monster was there, but let out a sigh of relief as a small gecko slid on by. Phew...that was scary!
