85-89. A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through.
As they flamed down one clump another clump of Thread passed through on their other side. Sorentia tried to turn fast enough to catch it but she was too late. She just hoped that someone would find it and it didn't hit anyone else.

A growl rumbled through the large queen as she and Phryana flew with their fellows, her hearts beating strongly for their sakes. She wished them all a good fight--and their safety, more than anything. Silver suddenly snaked close out of the corner of her eye, and Phryana twisted to catch the Thread with a blast of fire. Kleoth's fierce joy was enough to make Phry bare her teeth in a grin.

Phryana was focused on burning down another clump of Thread when Kleoth violently lurched to the left, causing her to gasp. With a whistle, the bag of firestone they'd just avoided when racing past. If that had hit her from this height... She compressed her lips sharply, resisting the urge to glower up at the sky.
36-40. A sliver of Thread that slipped through the Wings above winds up catching your dragon It burns, but it's not going to stop you from carrying on! [+1 Pain Resilience]
The wind picked up slightly, and Kleoth snarled. Phryana could feel a burning against her shoulder. She directed them Between, focusing on her dragon. Kleoth. She thought sharply, but the gold simply sent her a warm wave of reassurance. Barely even a graze--nothing the queen was going to worry about.

Another writhing strand of Thread, another carefully aimed spray of fire. Satisfied that it was nothing more than harmless ash, Phryana kept her eyes peeled for any other bits that might have slipped through the wings above.

The wind buffeted them roughly, but Kleoth expertly used her weight and size to her advantage. The result meant she didn't have to exert much energy, and easily kept her position. Phryana checked their position with an air of satisfaction, noting that they'd barely even moved.

Sorentia and Riamsoth were determined to not let another tangle of Thread get by them. They were on high alert but it wasn't a threat of thread that they spotted. On your right!

Still on high alert and determined, Riamsoth spotted something coming down. A quick thought to her rider and Sorentia was burning the Thread to ash.

Vosin checked her canisters and spray nozzle one last time. Everything was prepared. She looked up as the higher wings started their advance to meet their enemy. Killakeeth hung in the air with her broad wings spread, a hum deep in her throat. Soon their wing moved forward to catch the tailings. Vosin kept alert and wand at the read.
Killakeeth saw it first falling towards them. Quickly mine! Vosin twisted and whipped the nozzle into position. A quick spray of flames saw the errant strand dead.

57-60. The Thread that you were diving to catch is suddenly blown towards you. In a swift move, you hop Between and appear beside it, effortlessly flaming it down. +1 Between Accuracy
Ophina had spent her breakfast plaiting her hair obsessively- a habit she'd developed before the coming of any arduous Fall. The solitary time gave her space to reflect on things that had been, and things to come. She was glad she could defend Pern, with Terasath by her side, but the cost... It always seemed to cost so much.
Terasath wilted in her wallow, eyes grey with unspoken misery. Fall was such a tough occasion for her, and it was difficult for her to talk about it. Once Ophina had finished making her hair manageable, she stroked Terasath's headknobs until the grey eased. We'll be all right, Terasath. We'll do our best and help others. Slowly, as the time before Fall dwindled away, Terasath began more compliant and cooperative.
And the time came, slowing for no man or creature. As they rose with their wing, Terasath suppressed an urge to rumble mournfully, hiding worried eyes with a frantic desire to chase Thread. As she spotted a clump, she dove towards it then backwinged urgently, flickering /Between/ to avoid the patch as it was swept upwards. When she reappeared, Ophina seized the chance to sear it with her flamethrower, patting her gently. Excellent work.

Killakeeth kept pace with her wingmates, other golds and other colors who couldn't fly the higher altitudes. For now things were quiet as not much thread fell around them, which meant the higher wings were doing a fine job of wiping it out. Instead a sudden gust of wind tried to buffet the hefty gold. Vosin twitched her lips as she felt her dragon shrug the gust off. No little gust like that could move you.It was foolish to try, came the haughty reply.

Broad gold wings carried them further along. For a moment, Vosin was mesmerized by the sight of the ground racing by under her. Then she spotted a glimmer of silver. Thread!Prepare! Returning to her position the gold hummed to those around her. The pair continued to remain on high alert. Rumor had it was going to be a bad Fall. As the winds picked up, dainty Terasath flew and fought hard. She returned to her position, body trembling with triumph. She didn't say anything, much too disconcerted and anxious by the Fall itself, but Ophina patted her reassuringly. You've got this.
