worshipping satan doesn't make sense, because satan only exists in the christian religion. Satanists like to play off of the fear that christians have for satan. Might = Right so anything that gives them power is something that they will go for. Satanists aren't really that bad, they just realize that human beings are animals and should be allowed to follow their instincts. They don't, for instance, concider it a 'sin' to have sex. It is a human instinct and, sometimes, a manipulative power that can be explored.

well i'll say this. I worship God not because i think i'll get something out of it, but because (this is going to sound lame but i dont know how else to describe it) i have felt Gods surmounting love for me (and not just me everyone! but this was personal so right now its me razz ) Through God i have been able to become a much more generous gracious person and i am thankful for that. I have found true happiness with God and i hope that one day you might find it too smile
i guess people worship the devil because they have this kind of relationship too (the people who pretend are doing it for w/e reason ie. peer pressure) however i believe that a relationship like this with satan is hollow.
NOTE: these are just my beliefs i am not pressuring anyone to become a christian and i am not bashing satan worshipers. I am sorry that i have to post this note, but many people think that too many christians push people to become a christian. i just hope you find God becuase he changed my life smile

Ya know, they would probably look at you and ask why the HELL you would worship god. You've sold your soul to him. The only difference is the name of what you worship. Not everyone is going to think the same way you do and believe what you believe, but that DOESN'T make it WRONG.
so..
STOP PATRONIZING PEOPLE

LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE
It is NONE of your business what others believe. It has nothing to do with you, so leave them alone. Their soul is no concern of yours. Would YOU want someone coming up and asking you 'WHY THE HELL DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD? I WOULD NEVER EVEN PRETEND TO DO THAT. I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO GAIN, I WOULD NEVER SELL MY SOUL TO HIM OR WORSHIP HIM.'
Wouldn't make you feel good, would it? no. So leave them alone, seriously. If you don't understand, fine, but don't b!tch about them following their own beliefs when it doesn't affect you. If that's what they believe, then nothing you say will change that, so drop it. FREEDOM OF RELIGION MEANS ALL RELIGIONS.

The point of this topic isn't to patronize or harass people; believe me when I say that the topic would be long gone if it ever came close to something like that. Rather, this is more for a discussion of beliefs in general, and to a lesser extent, why some people believe what they believe. Everyone who has faith in anything has it for a reason, and that is what we're here to discuss.

Treat it more as a misconception and misunderstanding than a patronization, I'm sure this isn't the first case of this happening. If you have some clarifications to make, please do so. In fact, I believe that this topic has had quite a bit of history, with others doing their part to clarify the matter at hand. I'll assume that you've already read the rest of the discussion, so please add anything that you feel necessary to what's already been said.

wolf_spirit16 I really do not understand why anyone would worship the devil. Or even pretend to worship the Devil. Satan is a bad dude (haha that's an understatement) Who the Hell would worship him. What do those people think they will get out of it? Heck, I don't care what your supposed to get out of it, I would never even pretend. My gosh. I mean, like 'sell your soul to him' well then, how about no. I don't care if your supposed to gain eternial life, richs, or anything. I don't care if your supposed to gain anything you want. I would never sell my soul to him or worship him. Anyone understand why someone would do that? I just don't understand I mean I know I haven't exactally 'found God' in a Christian standpoint or whatever. But jeez....That's crazy, I swear. ok yea...that's it (I just watched The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp. It was Goooooood haha) -Kacy Then why selling your soul to "God"? I hope you know that Satanists don't exactly WORSHIP Satan. That isn't what the religion is about. It is like an "I will look out for me and only me" self-loving religion.
And I could not exactly tell you why people worship Satan, as I do not believe he exists.

okay so we're talking baout worshiping "god" and "satin" why do either matter since we don't know if either exist and do any of you know what 555 means?
And it really makes no sense to worship any one for me take my time and use it for something important!

Each is based on one's point of view,
as is any religion.
I, personally, don't believe in God or Satan, really.
To me it just makes little sense
to think that one all-powerful being poofed everything into existence.
But, religion is a point of view,
you believe in what you believe in
and I shall believe in what I believe in.
I think it's wrong, though,
to question anyone's religion without first questioning your own. S u p e r h e r o <3

To the best of my knowledge (I'm not Christian, and thus, don't know) people worship God because they believe they are born flawed and need to be 'saved'.
Again, I don't know, but perhaps the reason people worship Satan is because they do not believe that people are born flawed, and they don't need to be saved.
Perhaps it is just to be as far removed as possible from Christianity and all it stands for, the ultimate statement of opposition to Christians.
But this is all speculation... sweatdrop

I believe in God! The almighty reigns ( at lest in my world). I moved to Washington 6 years ago and have since then felt the presence of God enter my life. I do not however believe in organized religeon. I believe in spirituality which I think you can only find within yourself. So whatever or whoever you believe in is your spirituality. As long as it works for you. May your God bless you.

I am suprised to see that several people described that Christians sell their soul to God. Genuinely suprised. If somebody could explain more about that, I promise that I won't try to convert you. I'm just curious as to the logic behind the statement. I never heard it before. Would you use the same term for someone at the opposite end of the spectrum?

well the concept from what i read in this post and beleive my self is that untill you choose what religion is suited for you your soul is yours and yours alone but once you make a eternal commitment with the diety(s) that you would choose to worship you exchange your soul for their favor upon dieing.
and thats my veiw on selling your soul

also to say satan is a bad guy is looking through one end of the faiths that have his for all we could know he could be a extrodinary gentalmen and hell could be a paradise but since the bible states that lucifer is evil means hes all grrr arg im evil bow down to me and ill make your life misserable.
for all we could know lucifer made hell almost like heaven but with more freedomes
what i beleive hell would be if their was a hell(if it were a bad place that is) is not a burning fire pit but made to each one of our fears and weaknessess
