beaulolais texans don't put beans in theirs. therefore i always carefully add those frijoles. yay, yankees. i add cayenne, jalapeno, oregano, garlic, salt and cumin as my spices. My mom grew up in Missouri, she insists on beans in chili. Do jalapenos work well? They have a sweeter flavor than I would want for chili.

I've made chili a few times. I always grew up on vegetables in my chili, especially 'cos I'm a vegetarian. Sometimes we put sweet potatoes in it... but that's weird. I usually toss in at least carrots, then whatever else is around the house. I like to throw some cinnamon into my spices, along with cayenne, but now that I've actually got a few more spices I might be able to mess around with it more. I grew up in the town of Chili, which is not like the food, but with long i's.. (Chai-lie) everyone always says it wrong.

i had to discuss why i don't like chili to my group today, and that's because i've never liked beans. so as far as i know, chili is gross.

I like chili, if it's made right. My grandmother takes a can of B&M baked beans and adds ground meat to it (can be beef or venison), with no spices or anything. That's not really chili and is very sweet.
But most chili is pretty good, unless there's tons of beans in them (some are fine, just not the whole thing, 'cause then that's making beans). It should be spicy, but flavorful at the same time, not just heat for heat.

I'm starting to acquire a taste for chili :9 But it has to be really freaking mild at this point in time for me though xD like the chili they have at Quizno's is pretty yummy.
