The Angel's eyes whirled a bright red as the Demon shoved him away. But then the dragonet sensed something even more disturbing than its loathed sibling...

The Hunter wanted to kill the Demon.

No! We are better than this! We are better than him! Killing him will make us as much monsters as he!

With that, the Angel suddenly threw himself into the defense of the Demon, trying to shield his sibling with his tiny form.

Farellen had been keeping an eye on everything going on, keeping away from the Demon Bronze, wanting to help the boys he'd attacked but others who had been closer, managing to help instead. He saw a couple of Impressions, more eggs hatching, he stayed where he was.

It wasn't until Hunter Bronze launched into Demon Bronze's neck that farellen acted, however not like he should have, he was knocked over when Hunter rammed Demon into a bunch of them, he felt Demon's claws tearing fabric... tearing skin but no ... Dragon hatchlings hurting humans was one thing, but dragons trying to kill dragons .... no He got up and but himself between Hunter and Demon "NO this is wrong ... You'd be no better than him if you kill him" he pleaded with Hunter.

"I'd rather remain quite still, thank you." Re-enter the fray? The fact that there was still a 'fray' going on proved that these dragonets were really just...terribly subpar. Consciousness (and clarity) were coming and going in spurts, but even he knew that much. He'd survived, somehow, intact. In pain, battered, but intact. And despite the budding fury in his chest for what in his mind was an egregious wrong done unfairly to him, he had no intention of 'rejoining' any spat in-progress. Especially since he'd just convinced Marinel to behave.

Speaking of, where had his twin gotten off to? He managed to force himself to a half-sitting position, twisted to the right (as his left arm twanged with pain any time he put weight on it) to stare dully across the sands. ...When had so many dragonets hatched? And where...oh. He'd caught sight of his twin just in time to see someone—another man?—plant a kiss on his head.

He'd be angry about that later. For now it was just nice to see that someone was looking out for him.

Lennik

The hatching of a third bronze went almost unnoticed by Lennik, but he didn't have time to admire it fully. No, the battle of the bronzes was getting increasingly violent. While he was in no position to be in any real danger - he followed his rules of engagement to the letter and only had some scars on his torso to show for it - his anger began to waver. Not out of intensity, but uncertainty. The hunter, certainly, had not attacked anybody intentionally, but it was stepping over everybody and paying no mind to those it was supposedly protecting.

Angel throwing itself between the two bronzes confirmed a nagging suspicion inside of him; Hunter was out for blood just as much as the Demon was. "So you're going to be no better than a beast too?" He didn't like it. He didn't like it at all. Even as the scuffle maneuvered around through candidates, Lennik found himself purposely placing himself between it and the three others he stood with.

He'd be damned if he wasn't going to take anything before those with him did.

Danzik and Green Eosphoth

Eosphoth had missed any violence from her own hatching. She'd waited. She'd been patient. She'd known that Danzik wasn't going anywhere and so she'd been the last to shell. She couldn't understand why these young ones wanted to do anything else but find theirs. To fight.

There will be no winner. Only a strife that is pulled into check by their bonded....if they remember to find them.

Jagmund

He had been standing too close to the Demon and the fight. He gasped as the Hunter took a chunk right out of the Demon's neck and shoved the hatchling right into the observing Candidates - including himself. Jagmund fell from the impact, and suddenly he felt sharp teeth and claws tearing into his arm.

Shards, that hurt! He yelled out his pain and curled into a sort of fetal position, his head against the hot sand. Gavryl had been smart to protect his vulnerable parts, so Jagmund did that now, curling to protect his belly and face. He wasn't even sure which bronze had done it, but he suspected it was that horrible Hunter!

It was a shock when the Angel turned against the Hunter, for reasons Jagmund didn't quite catch. The tiny white would stand no chance if it came to real blows. But he was more concerned for his bloodied arm than the hatchlings at present.

Ladellan

Del had barely gotten in place when the fight escalated, and spilled out towards several candidates a little distance from him.

No! Shards, every time he tried to help at this Hatching, it just went sour! And all because of that infernal Demon...

Moving over to try to help one of the fallen candidates, Del suddenly found himself knocked flat as one of the Hunter's wings seemingly swept up from out of nowhere, catching him from behind as he passed. Rolling aside, Ladellan spit out a mouthful of sand as he dodged a flailing paw. Moving once more to help, a stinging sensation on his left bicep made him look down in surprise. A trio of slashes had materialized there, coated with sand. It seemed that he hadn't entirely avoided that clawed paw, after all.

"..." Cesare stared at the trio of dueling dragons, the disturbing reality all too plain. "They're going to kill him. They're going to kill him, Migel," Cesare said, a hand clenching into a fist at his side. He was fixated on the fight, a wrinkle creasing his brow. He wanted to send his chosen warrior out to stop that, or to intervene himself. Yet both choices would end terribly, and those were risks he would not take. Stop this. Stop at once! He couldn't stop himself from thinking such thoughts.

Something... urgently needed his attention. "No, it isn't fair. It isn't fair at all-- oh." But it suddenly wasn't two against one. The fight had shifted in a way that he couldn't quite track from his vantage point, except that he thought he'd seen that flash of white shift.

"Dragons don't intervene. Not with hatchlings. They could between."

--

A'ral was proud of Akaris for standing on her own two feet, although he worried for her. Well, he was still close at hand. He couldn't intervene, but... he could be ready to catch if she were to fall. Nebbi needed his attention right now, too. "You're doing well, children," he said, for both of their benefits. "Oh? Well, Nebbi, you just need to wait, and be ready to move if you have to. Dragonets aren't always this savage."

CANDIDATES! Please do not interfere! You could startle the little ones between! Zinath sent out to all the Candidates on the sands. Heart in mouth as they watched Farellen, helpless to do anything, A'ral and Zinath were as one in that moment.

Kieza (HR)

The girl's hand shot up to her mouth in shock as she watched the dragons on the sands fight, her heart giving a nasty thump as she tried to keep herself calm, despite the terrifying sight of dragons fighting, and dragon ichor spilling from small bodies. Why were they being so vicious? Had the Candidates the large bronze sensed around him displeased him in some fashion? Was... was the dragonet insane, truly lost it's mind somehow? Was it's true Bonded not here and it was just losing itself to it's anger before disappearing Between? She found herself gripping Silviu's arm tightly as she stared forlorn at the scene. Kieza sent desperate thoughts toward the fighting ones, knowing that it would not be heard, but wishing... just wishing that they would find their Bonded, and be happy and carefree oncemore?

They had to want Theirs, right? By the First Egg, they had to be with their Bonded!

Kieza felt sorrow mix with the shock of the sight before her, that these clutchmates would fight one another... it was a terrible sight. Candidates being torn into, being flung aside like ragdolls, like nothing, it gave the girl mixed emotions that these great dragons were maybe... not so great. Just crazed creatures laying vengeance on weaker humans with no other purpose that to inflict harm. What else could it be? Only two of the many that had hatched had decided it was a good thing to find the one human that would make them happy. Yet, so many... did not seem to like that plan at all.

The small dragons continued to fight and it seemed they were more interested in each other than finding their One. Dragons could certainly get distracted as they entered the world but the other Hatchings he had been at rarely devolved into anything like this. The surprise question directed towards him caused him to glance away from the dragons for just a moment, glancing at Kiri who had spoken.

"Mostly," he said, trying to smile but he did find it hard when there was so much blood on the sands and sounds of dragons tearing in to one another. The tussle was soon moved closer to them as the Hunter continued to battle the Demon and he eyed them warily. An errant wing or tail might catch him now and he wanted to be ready to dodge. Even the little white Angel was still joining in even though now he...she?...had stopped chewing on the Demon's tail.

He wanted to shout to them to stop, to behave, to do something other than harm one another, but he knew that could only force them on. He took another slow breath, keeping his heart rate somewhat even as he tried to fight down the urge to help. Getting himself involved in the fray would only end him on a stretcher or on the Sands, bleeding and dazed. The best thing he could do was stand his ground, let the dragons do what they wished, and continue to remain as calm as he could.

"I only wish they'd stop and find their One," he added, softer and more to himself than to Kiri. "It breaks my heart to see them like this so soon out of the shell."

From the very start of the Hatching, Dezerac had taken great care not to place himself in line for a mauling, no more inclined to gaping at the proceedings than he was to intervening in them, and so he was a reasonable distance away from the others who were either less attentive or less quick on their feet (or less intelligent, if he was being uncharitable).  Regardless, his attention was once again fixed on the Demon and his brothers as they warred.  And Angel...changed sides to protect the sibling he'd previously been helping to subdue?

What had changed, and what chance did the white have when caught between the wrath of two bronzes?  For the first time since the maulings had begun, Dezerac winced.  Disdain was joined by a whisper of concern.  It was one thing for the hatchlings to fight and injure each other, but to kill?  Bad enough to lose them if they couldn't find a partner, but for one to kill another, whatever its faults...

That possibility, as much if not more than anything else that had happened already, was sickening.

Fools. Selfish, selfish fools.

Ryala

What. Was. Going. On?!

Having studied at the Harper Hall, Ryala had naturally read accounts of dragon hatchings. And while it was mentioned in the records that injuries occurred, she had NEVER imagined anything like THIS! Horrified, she watched as the hatchlings attacked others and each other. A couple had Impressed, and those people and their dragons were safely out of this... this massacre... but the rest of the dragonets, with the exception of a lone bronze, seemed to be determined to cause as much mayhem as possible.

But... what if a dragon ended up too badly wounded? Would... would they...

Looking over at Vimiath's towering form, Ryala found herself addressing the queen. "Please... they're killing each other!" The horror in her voice was plain as she indicated the bronzes and the white. "Please stop them... please!"

The Demon & The Hunter
Things happened quickly.

His brother seemed quite intent on murdering him, and the Demon found some sort of twisted humor in that. Well... Wasn't that an interesting change. If he wasn't now fighting for his own life, he would compliment the Hunter for stepping into a new world.

So it was, the Demon started fighting back, because his life DID depend on it. He bit, he claws, he ripped.

The Hunter bronze continued his pursuit. He would not give up. He would not quit. He did not listen to his white brother, when the little beast suddenly threw himself in front of the Demon! Simultaneously, there was another Candidate suddenly there -- with limbs, and shouts -- It was confusing, and frustrating to the bronze. THIS WAS HIS FIGHT! Who dare interfere as he put this creature down!?

Rage entered the Hunter -- how dare his sibling turn on him! In his anger, he lost his control, and started thrashing. He let his wing's foreclaws reach out to gouge Farellen and rip down the boy's chest and stomach. He snapped hard at the boy, but instead caught his white brother instead. In his rage, he shook the tiny white like a doll, before throwing its battered and ichor stained body to the side. OUT OF THE WAY! He hissed!

With the white gone, he now only had Farellen in between, and he would repudiate him with all his anger. He snapped again, shook, pulled, and ripped. First an arm, then his face -- he scrabbled and kicked and would not end until he ripped through to get to his Enemy.

The Demon, for his part, was as indignant as the Hunter. Not for Farellen -- what did he care for the boy -- but The Angel was still a brother. So he bit Farellen's back and shoulder, shaking the boy like he had the other, and tried to push the stupid thing out of the way. He twisted and ripped, before using his wing to shove the other out of the way. He was not gentle, but hey, he wasn't trying to kill.

The Frankenstein Monster Egg
RAGE!!!!!!!!!

The bright color egg EXPLODED and a blue dragon SCREECHED his wrath! Trumpeting loudly, the blue dragonet threw himself in the throng of Candidates, stumbling this way and that. He had had enough! He barreled through the Candidates wildly. His anger was intense, raw, and pure, but also mixed with fear.

Stop this madness! Stop this fight! He would find the Hunter, and he would make him pay. Any Candidates not smart enough to get out of his way would be thoughtless and carelessly trampled.

- - - -

The Plaid NPC Egg
The emotions were too intense, and this dragonet could wait no more. The egg, which had been off to the side, suddenly wiggled and shook violently. With a loud crack, it shattered, and a large brown dragonet rolled onto the sands. He didn't even bother to shake off the egg goop or shell shards -- no. Like Frankenstein, this brown roared defiantly, and ran right into the fray. It tried not to run into anyone -- but those who did not get out of his way would find him pushing them, hard, to the side.

He had somewhere to be, damnit!

First though, he would attempt to help get the now mauled form of Farellan out of the way, scratches and bites be damned. Gripping onto the boy -- whether he was alive or dead, it mattered not -- he pulled, hard, and would drag him aside if he could.

((Up to you Revel how Farellan comes out of this. But these wounds are...bad.))

Jacquol

Jacquol had been more than happy to stay firmly out of any of this trouble. A boy'd been laid low, then another...the bronze hatchling had her looking for quick routes off the sands. She was here for her dragon and hers alone, not this sort of butchery. Even she as a pirate had never been this vicious. No. Life was to enjoy, to have fun, make mischief and get ahead, not take a head. "Can't we do anything?" She mumbled to no one in particular. "Make them stop and find their partners?" The urge to yell out, 'hey pick on someone your own size!' or the like thrummed in her veins, but...

Well, she wanted to make it home today after this. Ambrin was waiting, and as gorgeous as he was with so many scars, she didn't think she'd look quite as nice missing her face or a hand.

...Hooks were coming back in style though...

Isn't there any way to stop this?

Mattavi

Mattavi had been doing a good job staying away from the violence on the sands so far. Her heart went out to some of the candidates. But most... She could only shake her head. Do dumb things, pay the price. Really, there were some candidates here who probably didn't know how lucky they were to even be alive right now. What was it her mother used to say... 'Fortune saves fools and children'?

She looked around the wreckage of the sands, from the stains of blood, to the brawling hatchlings. They could really use some fortune here.. there were a lot of fools and children in need of saving.

Matti was in the line of fire as the two bronze careened through the candidates, but she was able to get enough out of hte way that she was only struck across the face by an errant wing tip, and not caught up under their claw. She pushed herself up on her hands, cheek bleeding, in time to get a front row seat as another candidate inserted himself right into the middle of the two dragons. Her eyes widened.

Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me!

While normally she would be the first to say he brought this on himself and she wasn't going to stick her neck out for him, she just so happened to be within arm's reach of the bloodied candidate. This kid was really gonna die if she didn't do something! Ugh, fine.. Grabbing a wrist (that was hopefully still attached to the rest of him), she threw her weight into her shoulders and pulled hard.

Migel

"Curious." he muttered, when the white switched targets. It was more like a three-way brawl now, with Angel switching sides and apparently acting to prevent loss of life on either side. His impression of that hatchling greatly improved. For its size, it was admirably brave. He only hoped it didn't prove to be recklessly so.

"If they don't, someone's going to between anyway." he commented. He looked at his friend, raising a brow slightly. It was savage, true, but he was surprised his friend was so affected by it. He looked back at the hatchlings brawling through the sands. Maybe he was just too used to this amount of violence.. "What do you want me to do?" he asked. Though he doubted there was much he could do, and Cesare had probably come to this conclusion. Still, there were sometimes paths he couldn't see. He was ready to execute whatever he plan he willed.
