He frowned a bit. "If after that line of boys he isn't satisfied, maybe then," but that was quite a lineup happening for the bronze leaving some fine blues, greens, and a brown to get less attention. A shame, really.
"Which of the rest do you want to meet?" he asked, attention lingering between the blues in particular. A green wouldn't have been bad either, but......Oh. He'd never really considered himself to have a preference, but there he was. Thinking about blues.
Huh.
And there were even a few more babies to join the others now!
-----
Dorok
And off she went. Dorok looked after the Caroling Note green for a little while longer, even as the bronze - Faranth help him - requested that any boy who wanted to meet him would need to get in line. Dehka was going. Dorok hesitated stupidly - stupid internal conflicts. He wanted a bronze. He wanted it for him and not because of the eyes he could feel burning into his back the longer her took to join the others.
He almost wanted to just stand there and let his father stew. No, not almost. He did want to. Especially as more dragons began to hatch and demand attention. Dorok would delay his visit to Christmas Tree bronze to take a moment longer to look at - No, not Snowman Blue, too much guilt and as such Red and Green Striped Paper Egg would also not get his attention.
But Candy Cane Brown and String of Lights Green would get some time first. Hello to you, he greeted.
-----
Kinyegele
There were several greens, and blues, and ANOTHER brown now on the loose and Kinye was delighted, grinning widely. "Look at them!" she said, bouncing from foot to foot. "She's beautiful," that green was very much like her mother in poise and grace, "and he's so handsome," the brown oozed confidence. And the blues! "Oh! Are you gonna help him get going? How thoughtful of you!" if Snowman blue needed a nudge, Striped Paper Blue was definitely ready to get them both going!
How nice!

mel - she/her
"What's so spooky about food?" Mel asked with raised brows in return. Babies were sensitive and yadda yadda, but food. Feasting. Eh, whatever.
She dropped her arms and watched the proceedings. "So many want boys," she noted. "Do they do that normally? Just ask fer lines? Guess that'd be more organized than just standing and waiting..."
Oh hey, Candy Cane finally burst onto the scene! Literally! Mel laughed and made a small bow towards him. He made his entrance and everything, look at him go. She could respect that. Sir Future Weyrleader sir~

orri - he/him
A line? Oh...He met Dehka's eyes excitedly and nodded, but he paused. Dorok didn't seem like he was following just yet, and Orri couldn't blame him. The green from String of Lights was a sight, and he let a soft breath of wonder escape before hastily making after his best friend. There wasn't a need to be in a rush to be seen, but he also didn't want to appear rude. From the line, at least, he could still see the other dragons moving about.
Santa and Rudolph were conversing, and no fights were breaking out. Little by little, Orri began to calm down a bit...Hello, he greeted Christmas Tree. Very nice to meet you. I hope this makes things easier for you and your siblings.

dhawsn - he/him
"Naw, nothin' but a few scritch-scratches," Dhawsn waved it off, patting Helane's shoulder fondly, if gingerly. "They'll heal up real nice. S'good t'see you, girl." She looked much better than last time, and he was relieved.
He glanced at the call for boys, hesitated, and decided he was better off sticking to other candidates for now. Didn't want to put more attention on him when it was the baby's time to shine. "You liked any've them at the Touching?" he asked her as he watched others begin to gather and dragonets begin to wander.

[kaiator & bronze argamath - he/him - HR]
Future Weyrleader, hmm? Isn't that cute. Oh, hush, you.
[alisaide - they/them/he/him - HR]
"Not sure! I mean, I hope so, but either way? I'm just happy to be here." Alisaide shrugged, still lightly holding one of the bits of shell from earlier. "I'm Alisaide, though! Nice to meet you." It really was, too! Genuinely, they loved getting to talk to people, and a new face like Trude was even better. They watched as the boys began lining up for the Bronze, one eyebrow raised in quiet curiosity--should they go over there as well? Mm. Probably not, they reasoned. They couldn't see themself on a Bronze any time soon, if...at all, really. "Is there a color you like best? I'm a huge fan of Blues, myself, but Greens are so pretty, too. Even better in person, as I'm finding out!" Speaking of which, two of the Blues had started to get closer--they stood just a little straighter, eyes locked on the pair. They remembered the Red and Green Striped Paper Egg--it had been one of the ones they'd touched, too! The little Blue that had emerged from it certainly had plans for everything, judging by how he was herding poor little Snowman. That one had been so sleepy when they'd touched him--this likely wasn't the kind of wakeup he'd been after, unfortunately.

The Rudolph Brown gave a nod, and immediately began to shepherd the boys into a dignified line. He'd snuffle at a hand here, or us a wing to gently put another back into place. Hurry along now, men! Don't keep him waiting. He spoke aloud to the boys.
He did pause now and then to peek at the Ding Dong Blue, but so far, the beast didn't appear to be trouble.
- - - -
Ding Dong Blue gave a snort as another bronze hatched on to the scene. Though his eyes flashed red, he walked among the Candidates as if he were some Lord Holder come down.
When another brown appeared, claiming he might be the future Weyrleader, he couldn't help but roll his eyes.
Honestly now. There is a difference between knowing your place, and earning it. Thread burns bronze hide just as easily it does Blue. All the self-importance and rank in the world won't save you from that--but go ahead. Enjoy the attention so swiftly and blindly given to you. You can have the title but I'll find a way to pull the strings.
And with a haughty snort, the blue let his eyes fall upon the Candidates who stood so eagerly to be considered by a bronze.
Fools. All of them.
And yet...
His eyes whirled a deeper red and he bared his fangs at the boys.

Quote: Ruunan [HR] - 17 - he/him/his - App Woodcrafter
“Yes…” Ruunan answered with a nod, “they do have a lot of potential. They’ll become formidable, all of them.” His voice had a little bit of that far-away, not-all-there quality to it, as if he hadn’t quite returned from hiding after the violence had ended.
In reality, his attention had settled on Snowman blue, who was still struggling to stand. That Struggle was Real, and hit close to home. If only he could wish upon the dragonet all the love and self-confidence in the world. You have nothing to fear amongst us, I promise you. It was mad to make a promise like that, given the circumstances, the blood and ichor that stained the sands… but Ruunan was certain no human would harm a dragon- and so, amongst the candidates, Snowman blue might feel safe…
Holly Blue had Impressed too, and the young man politely clapped for the new pair. There was whimsy and cheer in that dragon, and he hoped the toils of weyrlinghood and rider life never erased that.
“I h-hope you’re right about that…” Ruunan gave a nervous chuckle in response to Kyzier’s promise and belief. It had looked to be an awful mauling, truly. He wiped a sweaty palm on his robe and breathed deeply once more. “Their emotions are so strong as babies. It’s… It’s wonderful, but also scary.”
More eggs hatched, and Ruunan watched, calming himself with the belief that the worst had happened. No more pain or blood would be had on these sands- hopefully… It seemed that the dragonets still within their eggs were very eager to hatching, rolling this way and that, colliding into neighbours… Non-verbal apologies were made, but blues and greens now dotted the stand in all their rainbow majesty, and Ruunan smiled. A genuine, pure smile of enjoyment. This was such a beautiful sight, and he had forgotten to appreciate the hatching for the wonder it brought to the world.
The dragonets seemed to be investigating the candidates with a little more care now, and Ruunan felt some of his nervousness ease. He even managed another dimpled smile for Kyzier- one that he hoped looked heartened and brave (and probably looked more sheepish and silly than usual). A brown and bronze sat together, and seemed to be rather good-natured towards each. Another egg was hatching, but very politely, if that was a term that could be used to describe a dragon breaking its shell…
You may form a line if you wish to meet me. The words resonated in his head, and Ruun started, glancing around for the speaker- the largest bronze so far, and he found that his jaw clenched. He was painfully, almost sickeningly, reminded of… of… no, he couldn’t think about that. He wouldn’t let himself panic again. Once was already too much. He wouldn’t shame his family or bring disappointment… or be that person he once was. He was going to be stronger. I can do this… This time, it’ll be different… He hoped. He hoped he could believe himself.
“I…” He began, in response to Kyzier, but paused. Would he go line up, like the others? Or would he wait? He watched, hoping his feet might make the decision for him, but his attention once more fell on Snowman blue… he paused. It was okay to wait. Things would be okay. Ruunan moved slightly backwards. All dragons were good dragons. They all were… even… even that dragon. It will be okay. More to himself, but if his thoughts were filled with enough positivity, with enough self-belief, perhaps they would reach the minds of the still-searching dragonets. “Good luck, Kyzier.”
The Candy Cane Brown was a character and a half, straight from the shell. Ruunan raised his brows in surprise, but accepted the declaration almost thoughtlessly, as though it were only natural. Well, if the dragonet believed it, it could happen, right? All he had to do… wait, why was he trying to imagine this dragonet’s future? How odd.
String of Lights was next, and Ruunan smiled as the egg simply fell in two halves, revealing a graceful and poised green. She was… radiant, in his eyes. Ruunan stood in awe. He was certain, when she chose to move, she would not display any characteristic hatchling-clumsiness.
When Rudolph Brown's call went out for men to join the line, Ruunan almost moved again. But he controlled his feet of his own volition for once; not in defiance, no... but caution. Ding Dong blue seemed agitated again, and he did not want to risk dragon claws should he be slow...
