Tears fogging up her goggles and her dragon keening in pain, the call to return back to the Bowl for the end of their duty didn't come soon enough. Cozellath, normally bright and cheery, disappeared without a word and her little gray cloud of sadness seemed to go with her.

The wind was only growing worse as the fight went on. Though he may have been extraordinarily small for a bronze, Slidrianth wasn't any less strong! He struggled to remain in place, feeling his wings ache from the effort. D'zrak continued to silently reassure him, encouraging him.

A quick dart Between was more than enough to avoid Thread.... or so D'zrak thought. The winds shifted, and just as they reemerged, Thread was on top of them. Slidrianth bellowed in agony as he was heavily scored, and D'zrak could feel his own body twitching from his dragon's pain. They fled back Between, but even the icy cold wasn't enough to soothe the pain still radiating across Slidrianth's chest and side.

Though Slidrianth did not need to return to be patched up, the bronze was distracted by the pain. They had a moment to breathe, and D'zrak sent all the reassurance he could. You're doing fine. Bad luck, that's all. Nothing we can't handle, right?

D'zrak spotted the clump of Thread being blown right towards them and quickly sent Slidrianth Between. Though they successfully avoided the stuff, Slidrianth's flame couldn't reach it. He swore loudly under his breath, but he'd have to rely on his fellow riders to catch it instead. No problem. They were still doing all right, even if he had one very unhappy dragon on his hands.

Slidrianth managed to deftly avoid more strands of Thread with an impressive display of flying, but again, they were just out of his reach. D'zrak couldn't even care--as long as they were safe, that was what mattered. Not that his wingleaders would agree, but eh.

They'd been getting closer and closer to a patch of Thread with a wingmate near them when Cordrath rumbled with discomfort. M'nr, not much liking that, pressed and Cordrath admitted he had a bad feeling.

Let it be a moment longer, he advised the dragon beside him - and was rewarded for his caution with safety.

M'nr always questioned his straps every time they were put through a roll - but that's why they were checked. And why he and Cordrath went unscatched from another strand of Thread.

Cordrath was feeling good, flaming down Thread with abandon. Certainly, they'd come to a Weyr because of his children, but.....M'nr had no doubts that Cordrath was a Thread-fighting dragon. He thrived for the change.

Getting hit by Thread you couldn't really do anything to avoid was at least only mildly less upsetting than being hit because you failed to flame it. It still was awful, however.

A little tangle of Thread sure was a way to perk them up from their exhaustion, E'mel jumping them between to clear it....but it looked better than it had felt. Just a little longer, buddy. Then you can relax and talk to Loreleth all you want.

Being small and blown into Thread was a real problem when you got up this high. E'mel soothed Brieteth for the hit. Just a bit longer, buddy.

A strained muscle would need some tender care once they were on the ground again. But if Brieteth started feeling any worst, E'mel would be taking him back to the Healers. There was no risking him.
