I keep coming back here every time I get my hands on a computer hoping that it's more active, and it never is

Sounds like you should be more active about it.
Also anyone like the Free-to Play games on steam. I just tried two and was less than impressed.

I didn't really recognize any of them. I heard of Valiant Arms and Spiral Knights looked nice, but I've been finishing games. I just finished FFXIII around.... 13 hours ago. biggrin
Pretty schweet.

I like FFXIII. It wasn't a traditional FF game, and the combat was not very open to changes, but it was fun none the less. I even liked the story. I didn't understand the hate for it at all.
My only problem is that the extra stuff do it is very far away from the story in terms of power. Once I beat the game I should be able to jump into the upper level stuff. I shouldn't have to kill things for 20 extra hours to get there.

I never actually played XIII out of bitterness. As soon as it came out, everyone in my XII cosplay group dropped to try stuff from XIII. They didn't even manage to get any of it done. So. Meh.
was it actually a decent game?

In terms of gameplay, yeah. I love switching between battle styles and figuring out how to defeat my enemies. Some enemies are tough though. The battle style feels pretty fast paced, too. Gotta stay on your toes.
With how they did things, controlling one person directly is the most you can do. I'm sure FF fans might not like just controlling one person, buuuut, I'm more then sure they'd die if they tried to in this game.
I know some of the characters are awesome. Sazh, Fang, and Lightning were my favourites.
But Sazh is my numero uno. My primary battle team didn't have him though. Can't upgrade everyone's weapons, now can we? xD
I used Lightning as leader, Fang and Hope. YEAH.
Where was I going with this...?
OH YEAH, it's a decent game. I had fun with it.

The combat was flawed on a very deep level. The fact that they had insta-kill moves is the biggest sign of a lack of fore thought. When your party leader dies the game is over, so one move and BAM lost the fight. Combat was extremely weak in my mind, too fast for proper micro management.

I only had problems with insta-kill in the last section of the game with those long sword arm Wlasnider creatures. Don't mind the spelling. I remember one of them hitting me for 18,000 damage, 3 times my life bar. L O L.
As for the other parts, I guess that comes down to personal preference. Switching paradigms was my thang. And I only had to control my leader. My paradigm compositions took care of the rest. Combat Clinic anyone? cool
You don't see doom too much either. Extremely rare. Then again, I still have to do the post-game stuff.
And the whole launching of enemies into the air portions of combat treated me to some awesome damage. And occasional amounts of hilarity when I drop in on enemies fighting each other and watching them jump up and hitting the monster I just launched.

Hm, I'll pick it up once it's a low price and try it out. If I hate it, I'll just trade it back to gamestop.
Anything new, ATG?

It's super hot in California now. Well, 75-80 in the house, anyway. Probably gonna become hotter.
Edit: Amazon has 'em for $15 if you have credit card capabilities. 'Course, you need 25$ worth of stuff for free shipping.
I don't think they sell back for very much now. I don't remember Gamestop's rates. Hmm, mebbe 4-5$. D: Not bad.

It is pleasantly warm here in New Brunswick for once. A nice 20 degrees, or 68 for those of you South of the border.

80°F here in Stumptown today, and rivers are still 16 feet over zero-level. It's the second wettest spring on record since they started recording, 117 years ago, and the fourth coldest. We still like you, Jafty, even if you are broken. wink ninja mrgreen
