I never learned how to play Go either, now that I think about it. So many people I know play it though.

I find the games to be similar. I've played both. I think reversi is easier to pick up, though.

They both have black and white pieces. x3 But yeah, reversi is really easy to pick up. A bit harder to get good at.
I'm not very good at strategy games.

I'm good at reversi. razz
I'm playing igowin and am reminded of just how much I suck at this game. Not formally knowing the rules doesn't help, but I feel like I must be some sort of go-neanderthal.

Each piece goes on an intersection. When you place a piece down, every free intersection around it is a liberty. Remove all liberties from one piece or a group of pieces to capture them. The above diagram shows the middle intersection as having no liberties because it is surrounded on all four sides by white.
You win the game by having the most territory [liberties/unoccupied intersections] + the number of captured pieces [prisoners of war].
That's how I understand it so far. Also, having two "eyes" keeps your territory safe from capture because the opponent has no possible way of playing inside of them. Like so:

The two intersections represent two eyes. The opponent can't place pieces in an area without liberties. One eye leaves the possibility of capture. And probably counts as captured at the end of the game.
AND THEN, connected pieces are harder to capture. You can only connect pieces by vertical or horizontal means.

O++ +O+ ++O
The second diagram is not connected. All those pieces are more vulnerable to capture.

I think I am starting to get the idea, in theory at least, but it'll be a long while before I'm not completely and utterly obliterated on the game board.
