W'dre of Bronze Dormith

Oh boy, he'd never considered how to describe a very specific mental sensation until R'ose had asked about it. He nudged at his lifemate mentally and Dormith rumbled thoughtfully. How, indeed.

How does he know his hands are still his hands and not hers? Dormith asked quite clearly, causing the young man he was mentally attached to to consider that before frowning, rubbing his hand on a face that looked like it'd never grown hair on it ever. He'd have looked odd with stubble.

"You can feel your own hunger physically," he explained, "where as you can feel hers with the connection that you've just made. You feel it in a different way." Faranth, he felt like he was saying it dumbly, and Dormith did give him a mental shove. Hey, it's been years since I had to feed you.

B'gian, he was now called, joined the tables with the other little Green and then a Bronze! How exciting! The red-head with tear stained cheeks with sand stuck to them had the biggest smile on his face as he approached.

"H'llo!" He said, hand quickly darting toward the meet as a heavy head nudged his legs. He oofed and puffed at his new...soul mate. He had a soulmate. It was really like a dream. B'gian half expected to wake up and he'd be back in bed.

Hello sister, Molihuth greeted Sahrawith warmly. She nudged her lifemate for the meat he held but wasn't giving her for some reason.

Dear heart, can you please-- oh yes, thank you. And down went the meat rather quickly, a content crooning noise leaving her. Wonderful!

Riders
Vosin and Gold Killakeeth- W
The pair calmly watched the young Solid Pink green making her rounds among the candidates. Wise of her to check out her options, Killakeeth commented to her rider who nodded.

After a bit of time, Vosin made her own comment. “More are starting to stir.” She felt the gold rumble her agreement. Things would start to take off soon. She narrowed her eyes as a bright flash from one egg caught her attention. Was that gold? Things were heating up now. A couple of greens, and then a blue.

First impression. “And someone being stupid.” Vosin commented back as she heard the gold growl at a candidate. Ah look! A beautiful bronze Vosin! Killakeeth intensified her hum. The gold kept a sharp eye on Mari and the bronze. Nothing seemed to be happening, and shortly afterwards a second bronze hatched.

Mari here is your chance. Killakeeth cooed at the candidate.

Ly’bur and Brown Hinburath- HR
A green. How boring and common. Not worth good gossip really. The pair waited. Waited for more eggs to hatch, or a mauling to happen. He held his breath. Was it, was it? Nope the two greens rolled together playfully. Bah! Then one impressed. No fun there. He did perk up when he heard the gold growl. Oh ho! Who’d dare the wrath of the gold? He tried to spot the candidate.

Finally. There was a bronze. And a second one. Now it was getting interesting. Ly’bur frowned to himself. No browns yet Hinburath. I thought by now….

High Reaches Candidates
Makimton
He eagerly watched the green as she raced around the sands and investigated the candidates. Makim noted she stopped by several people, but didn’t seem particularly attached to anyone. Several more eggs were showing definitely more energy now. He wondered which would hatch. It was Pink Striped, and that green looked mad! He winced as she whacked her sibling’s eggs without regard.

One of the greens made a loud noise and he turned to find the source. Once green seemed to be threatening one of the candidates. He winced, anticipating the worst. Nothing came of it as the greens rolled together, then one impressed. Welp.

He noticed a blue sitting among his egg, then retreating toward the clutch mother. He stepped back as the gold growled for an unknown reason. What happened he wondered. Ah handsome bronze strutting his stuff!

Yikes! He watched as Ducky Egg decided to go rolling downhill. He hoped one of the dragons on that side would stop it before it hit the water. Ah the gold had acted quickly and stopped the wayward egg. Two bronzes roamed the sands.

Nalacko
Nala danced from foot to foot; partially because of the happy green, and partially because of the hot sands under foot. She nodded in agreement with Rizdax statement about a sunburn. She’d gladly have a sunburn if she could have her dragon too! Nala held her breath as the green came running up to rub against Rizdax’s hand. Had he been picked? As she listened to him talk though, it didn’t seem that way.

She wasn’t as sure about the second green that made her impressive appearance. Nala shrunk back from the angry Pink Striped green. An angry cry from the green made her happy she wasn’t the one facing her at the moment. She let out a deep breath as the two greens didn’t start fighting.

“Oooo look at that handsome boy!” She said pointing to the bronze.

Western Candidates
Rinis
Rinis waited patiently for the blue pair to be ready and then climbed up. It was a short flight to the island. Already there was an hatchling running around. A green! Once they landed, she gave L’saen a quick hug, petted Solouth’s jaw for good luck, ordered Chaek to remain with the blue pair and scampered down to join the other candidates.

She bowed to the queen and her rider as she got close enough. Her attention turned to the young green racing around. She was darling! A second green quickly made her angry arrival. Rinis watched them both. She thought the happy green had found her rider, but it appeared not yet as she raced off once more.

The young woman pursed her lips as it looked like things were about to come to blows between the greens. Unnoticed a blue emerged from the Yellow egg. When she turned back to the clutch, he saw him sitting there. Poor thing, he looked so confused! A quick check on the greens, and she smiled. They were adorable. Ah one of the beautiful greens impressed!

A growl from the gold made her look up in time to see a boy retreating. Clearly that dragon wasn’t his. She was surprised as a green hatched from another egg and waddled after the candidate with her egg still partially attached. Rinis smiled for the lucky pair.

Aukai Oceansoul
L’saen/Solouth- sorry I just got her there. XD <3

Omurntas
Omurn simply crossed his arms across his chest and watched the young green tear around the sands. While Solid Pink green seemed cheerful the second green to hatch was anything but. Omurn wondered if she’d gotten up on the wrong side of the sands? Like people could wake up on the wrong side of the bed.

The greens were occupied with others and he glanced back toward the clutch. There one egg, it looked like it had shiny hands. Was it gold or bronze? An angry cry brought his attention back to the greens. What had happened? He wondered. They rolled together, then headed off toward one boy. Oh. One of them must have impressed then?

He was still quite confused about all this. A blue was among the eggs, and it looked like a bronze was showing himself off. A motion caught his eye and his attention. Oh one egg was rolling away. The gold quickly stopped it, and revealed a second pale bronze.

Well, things were certainly happening quickly! Shar wasn't sure where to look or who to focus on as the eggs began to rock and hatch, dragons entering the sands one after another. A few even impressed, one right out of the egg! It seemed they weren't wasting much time in finding Theirs.

Shar watched the shy blue for a bit as he studied the Candidates anxiously, then flicked her gaze to the green that was taking her time in picking. It seemed none of the Candidates were up to her expectations, but surely someone here would turn her eye. Shar was ready and eager to take on any sort of personality that went with her eventual partner, be they shy and timid or a handful. She had no real desires for one color over another, only that they fight hard and fly with confidence to battle Thread.

"They certainly are a silly bunch," she murmured fondly as a few more eggs began to tremble.

[ r'ose and green sahrawith - HR ]

Yeah that about as helpful as trying to grab water with his bare hands. Think and feel and other random wherry dung? R'ose shook his head, deciding that he'd just have to wing all this and he and Sahrawith would make it out okay. He knew she'd stop eating eventually and if he kept the pieces small it shouldn't take too much of a toll on her. Probably. Another small piece went in, and the small hunger pang softened. Nice work.

She's here. The dragonet stopped her eating to turn and look at the pair who approached, her eyes a warm and welcoming blue-green. There was a fondness in her initial tone, and she returned the greeting to the, well, larger green. Hello Molihuth. I didn't expect to see you so soon. R'ose raised an eyebrow, having been given some measure of entry into the conversation.

"You know when someone is going to hatch?" He doubted it, and he could feel a sort of mental sweat come from the smaller green. So she was bluffing and he'd managed to call her on it, eh? The more and more he found about her the more he loved her. He was doomed, really really doomed. "Whatever. Are you about done eating?" Sahrawith shook her head and opened her mouth, demanding more. R'ose turned to look at W'dre. "I don't feel that hunger pang anymore, is she done even though she's snapping her jaws at me?" The green looked scandalized and shut her mouth, and R'ose rubbed a headknob. "Also, hey to you. You're.....Bel...what'd you shorten your name to?"

R'ose didn't know the guy's name, oops.

Ezyzu - Western Candidate

“No, she certainly seems against it in this moment!” Ezyzu grins, pushing errant strands of hair from her eyes. “None catch your eye, though? They’re all so lovely.” A bold bronze or brown? They surely seem to fit, though she didn’t know her companion from any of the eggs shaking and rocking. “I’m sure you’d be grand, paired up with a handsome bronze or brown!” Especially if he felt so strongly about them.

Egg of hers? A shyer smile tried hedging on her face. “I mean, what girl doesn’t dream of Impressing a gold?” Ezy looks at the egg a bit more curiously. “A green, maybe. A blue -- but as long as they’re healthy and find their intended, right?”

An egg hatching caught her eye, a little green that shattered the shell yet got herself quite stuck. Yet, unlike her siblings, seemed to know exactly who Hers was. Yay!

Ticene - High Reaches Candidate

Okay, so she was a little pushy, but there were worse things. The green seemed kind of rude as she pushed others aside, but she was a newborn, manners could come later maybe? For some reason Ticene had taken a shine to the spirited young green, so was likely giving her more slack than was really sensible. Murmurs and gasps however had her looking back to the eggs. A gold? That was unexpected. She reckoned everyone's attention would be on that little lady from now on. Alya's excitement certainly helped in keeping Ticene's own going, her bouncy with glee causing Ticene's grin to widen. Maybe one of the girls beside her would impress to the gold. Maybe Ticene would, she didn't crave a gold, but the dragons knew best so there was no use hoping for any particular colour.

Whoever she chose, it looked like it would be a while before she was out. Looking for the two greens Ticene was pleased to see the first green still darting around, and spotted the second just in time to see her snort gunk onto a candidate. Quickly covering her mouth to stifle a giggle it was hard for her not to find it funny. Let's see how the candidates liked being covered in goop. See how cheerful they were then.

For a moment it seemed like the second green had impressed. Nudging the girl and offering her the hat she had dropped. Without being able to here the young dragon's comments the scene was rather sweet to Ticene. Turned out it wasn't an impression after all and she was soon bounding away. Folding her arms Ticene nodded confidently "Yep. I like her."

When the green pounced Ticene had little time to do anythin other than take a swift intake of breath, before it was clear there was no malice in the two's interaction. A little rough housing was good for youngsters, helped them know their own strength as her father had often stated when scraps broke out amongst his offspring. Some candidates didn't seem to be taking the playful exchange well, but it was what it was. Ticene had seen plenty of people overreact to children fighting before. Maybe the tumble had been enough to tire the young green as once they untangled she seemed to head right into the arms of her chosen candidate.

A creel had Ticene whipping her head around fast enough to cause a twinge. There was a blue, when had he gotten there? Such a quite entrance. It seemed now though that a candidate has upset him. As the gold intervened Ticene reached up to rub at the sore muscle in her neck. "Uh oh, looks like Mama's not happy." At least the lad had the sense to swiftly get his butt back in with the others.

The dramatic hatching of a bronze was a surprise. It seemed that everyone was sure he had been a gold. Ticene had to admit she felt a pang of disappointment. Bronzes didn't impress to girls, althoughshe didn't understand why, so this meant that her odds of impressing dropped with each bronze on the sands. Still, at least the dragon in question didn't seem bothered by her or anyone else's feelings on the matter, strutting about like he owned the place.

An egg was on the move and it didn't look good. Some people seemed to think it was funny, but that just confused her more. Getting mad at a grumbling green, but thinking an egg rolling towards the sea was fine. Thankfully mama was on hand to catch the runaway baby. Soon after the egg hatched, a bronze arrived and her chances dropped another point. He was lovely, but it was hard to see a bronze as anything other than a rejection.

It was different for the boys though as the bronzes were promising for them. The topic of preferred colours came up and Ticene found the idea somewhat odd. Were bronzes all alike enough that they only chose a certain type of person. "Personally I think I'm the perfect match for a bronze." Ticene said with grin, attempting to inject some humour into the whole situation. Although the green that just managed to hatch, mostly, might do a better job of it than her.

Erastan

The boy looked at his sister as she started getting closer as soon as the first green hatched. He huffed gently and bumped her hard with his shoulder to make her step away without releasing her hand, so that he could keep her steady should she stumble and they were still connected. But it was a gentle scolding of her over protective nature. The little green seemed friendly, she was moving among the crowd without malice or too much excitement, unlikely to result in any injuries. He liked her, she reminded him of a friendly canine seeking attention from all available hands. He felt some of the tension leave his shoulders.

It lasted right up to when the second green hatched with red eyes and a attitude. Which was all of two minutes. Then it was his turn to step closer to Etansi. He wouldn't have needed his candidate lessons to tell him that red=angry.

Luckily his fear was soon proven quite unwarranted and when the two small green hatchlings fell into a play wrestle he felt himself warming to her. She was indulgent with her excited sibling, that was enough for him to decide he liked her. An option his sister soon voiced as well.

"Me too," he responded, once again stepping forward to avoid being shielded by his sibling. "She reminds me of you, maybe she is yours." he told her only half teasing. He ever strained his neck a bit to make sure he had a good view of the impressions happening. one right out of the egg...half out of the egg.

The bronzes were ignored almost completely, though they caused a stir among the other boys Erastan had no interest in what he considered dragons that were far too self important. Arrogance bred bullies. He hated bullies. Besides, he had slipped to the girls side to be with his sister so they were no where near him.

Hattaki

Roana

Roana responded to Martirea's coldness with a little dig of her own. "Well now I know why we haven't connected before." Quite luckily the first egg hatched before she could follow it with something along the lines of 'you'd have to pull that stick out of your a** first'. Dragons, no matter the colour were much more important than petty squabbles

Like most of the crowd that had experienced the previous hatching Roana felt her body tense with the first sight of those red eyes on a hatchling. But quickly fears eased. She wasn't angry, so much as sassy. Ro could appreciate that. She even stopped to give one of the candidates their hats back while managing to radiate her disapproval that the action was even necessary.

Ro grinned, she liked her and would be sure to make a point of introducing herself to whoever the green impressed.

It was only when she felt Iathe tense at her side at the mere suggestion of a gold that Roana realised how much Iathe wanted it. How important a gold would be to her. Sometimes it was hard to make her mental thoughts jarr with the view from high reaches then, with the small tension read in a friends shoulders, it became crystal clear.

"There are still some big eggs in the back. And the fact that there are any Bronzes at all is a good sign it could have been all greens and blue's with this clutch. With just a few browns in the bigger ones. " She spoke while standing next to the other two girls but her eyes were never directed at them, they were still flicking between dragons and eggs.

"Well at least the gold is mother enough to protect her children." she observed nodding at the cowering blue, poor thing, and the tumbling inelegant bronze that broke free of the saved egg.

"hmmm, is it just me or are the dragons having a harder time cracking their eggs this time? Or rather, there is a stark difference between those that burst out and the others that struggle, maybe because of the uneven temperature on the beach?" She was mainly muttering to herself, but did cast a brief eye to Iathe to check if her theory had merit.

K'gan and blue Singarth

If K'gan was any sort of sensible adult or dragon rider he might have pointed out that Flitts were banned on the hatching grounds as they were pesky flighty things and could cause all sorts of trouble, but he wasn't. So he didn't. Besides they were on a beach not the usual sands, so who was he to say what the new rules were.

When Farellen tried to clarify if he had thanked him or not an impish grin crept its way over K'gan's lips. "Of course you thanked me, don't you remember?" He cleared his throat dramatically, held his hand out like an actor readying himself for a part then curled it across Farellen's shoulders. "After we shared a few drinks, it went something like this..." He made his body hang limp against the younger man, hiccuped and patted his chest with a free hand. "Yo..you saved my life man, thankyou so much." Another hiccup. "I...love you man, I'm going to give you all my money and booze as thanks from now on.Cause your the bbbeeest." He even slurred a few of his words to make it clear just how drunk the injured boy had been.

Then he straightened himself up laughing. It was really impossible to tell if he was making it up or not, or if it was just half truth. "Oh then we had sex." He added, almost as an after thought. "And you wore a dress during, because thats your secret kink." K'gan only had half an eye on the hatching. It would only grab him if something dramatic happened. He was more interested in the feast.

Meanwhile Singarth was stretched out in the sun some distance away playing with the flitts. Gentle as always he merely batted at them gently and playfully with his tail and blew hot breath on their wings to make them tumble off course mid flight. However he was also happen to be resting perch for them as well.

Astriana (Western)

Astriana could see the indigo egg was still moving, wanting to come out, but still nothing from the little egg. It was definitely a lively thing, so eventually it would bust its shell, she was sure of it. Her eyes were then drawn to the green egg with a zigzag pattern on it, as it began to jerk. Though it was not the next one out either, that honor seemed to go to the pink stripped egg, as a fiery green made her appearance.

Well well, someone does not seem too happy right now. Can't say I blame her, that egg was definitely in her way,she thought to herself. She watched as the happy green seemed to go over to Huarwar, the one who had lost his twin in the last hatching. Looking closely, she wondered if she was impressing to him, but nope, just visiting. Her eyes then caught sight of the other green on the sands again, well, she certainly wasn't letting anyone get in her way. Her eyes were blue now, but she certainly seemed to have a way about her. It caused a smile to appear in Astri's eyes, even as her face remained emotionless. She almost did not want to tear her eyes away from the dark green, but a gasp came from those around her. Following where they were looking, she caught some kind of glitter. In the sun, it looked like a gold, could it be?!

Well, since it would take time to see what it was, she redirected her attention back to the dark green. Just in time too, to see with satisfaction as the girl snorted on the guy she was looking at. Well, clearly he was not who she wanted at all, given her reaction. Then she watched as the little dragon picked up the girl's hat and returned it to her, that was nice of her at least. Then she was off again, seemed she still needed to find her match. Then she watched as she got upset at some boys near her lighter sister, before pouncing on the other green. She held her breath, hoping the two were not going to get into a fight. Thankfully, the lighter green pinned her sister playfully, and her sister seemed to be calm. It seemed despite her outer rudeness, she had a good heart in there. She was liking this darker green more and more. Then she witnessed as the lighter green went over to one of the candidates that she did not recognize and impressed.

After that, the one with the bird marking on its shell began to shake. It didn't seem to be having an easy time of it, much like its smaller brother or sister in the indigo egg. From the way it glittered, it had to be another metallic, though it was too early to tell if it was gold or bronze. Then her eyes shot over to the queen when she made an angry growl, to see someone a little too close to a blue she hadn't noticed before. Looking around where he was, it looked like he might have come from the yellow egg. Well, he seemed to be kind of scared and the candidate was not helping the situation at all. She didn't know him either, he must be a High Reaches candidate. Didn't they teach them better than this, about approaching a startled baby dragon? She snorted in annoyance, thinking of what an idiot he was. Before she thought much more of it, there was a crack and she turned to see a bronze had hatched. Well, so much for it being a gold and this one seemed full of himself. Well, no matter, he was certainly not her's, so she didn't have to worry.

Astriana felt worry fill her, though she didn't show it, as one of the eggs began to roll toward the ocean. Though it was soon replaced with relief as the queen managed to save it from such a fate. It wasn't long before she saw it was a bronze, another one that wasn't meant for me. Then she noticed a green break from her shell and impress immediately, to the one who had disturbed the blue. Well, she reminded herself, the dragon did pick who they felt best to be their bonded. It didn't stop her from shaking her head a little, least he wasn't from Western. She still couldn't shake the hope she would impress this clutch, but she was trying not to set herself up for disappointment.

Ashlyn and Blue Gyafrith (HR Asst Weyrlingmaster)

Movement from the eggs and...oh, what do you know..another green emerges. She seems to be a spitfire, Mine, you should see how she kicked out of her egg,Gyafrith thought to his rider. Since she was busy, he made sure to be her eyes and pass things back to those back at home in the Weyrling barracks.

Well, I am sure Monath will be glad two greens came out first, she commented up to him, who had taken up position a short distance from her, but far enough not to be in the way. The question in the pairs' minds now was which baby would impress first.

Something has a bit of a shine down there, mine. Could it be a gold this early?he asked.

I don't know, Gyafrith, could be a bronze too. You know my brother's dragon and your clutchmate has parts that almost look golden too,she laughed. A chuckle filled her mind as the blue had to agree on that one.

Ashlyn mine, oooo....finally a blue! Aww, poor thing looks a little scared,Gyafrith cooed. The blue might have escaped the notice of some of the candidates, but not this eagle eyed blue. Probably because he was blue and he would notice another instantly.

Don't worry, my dear heart, his rider will make him feel better. He just has to find him or her, just like the rest of them, she assured gently.

Oh the first green to hatch just impressed. And you might want to get ready, it is one of our's,Gyafrith thought to her. He gave her a mental image of who it was and she set to work getting the supplies he would need in place. Then after awhile, a mental laugh was sent to his rider, as he announced the one thought to be gold..was a bronze. His rider was quick to join in with his amusement and an 'I told you so.' The laughter was replaced by fear from both dragon and rider as one of the eggs almost went for a swim. Though they were glad when the mother seemed to have quick enough reflexes to stop it in its track.

Ashlyn had noticed one of the other members of the Hurricane Wing nearby. Seemed he felt like helping, though he was really doing her and V'mel's job. She didn't have much time to think on it, however, as Gyafrith announced a green had just clumsily broken out of her shell and bonded right away to another High Reaches candidate. She had not expected the first two impressions to go to them, but she was glad of it.

"The two new Weyrlings, your new names and that of your dragons, please,"she called to both of the boys.

(I'm sorry for spacing out guys. I've missed so much. T-T)

Farensil was so chill about everything she took the hatchings in stride. One of the greens ran over and through several people in the crowd, too excited to mind her steps. Another stepped haughtily through, intentionally smacking others who were too close. Farensil got a face full of tail for not moving quickly enough and rubbed her face as more eggs cracked open and let free their encapsulated youths.

That gold turned out to be a bronze, and bright little bronze, and another egg shifted and rocked in place before tumbling for the water. Her instincts cried for her to leap to the egg's rescue, but someone else was faster, and out popped a pale little bronze, who almost looked like he felt left out of it all. 'Welcome to the world.' She thought at each in turn, adding a bit of extra encouragement for the pale bronzeling.

She couldn't help being jealous of the redhead's privelage to touch the fresh hatchling, and patted him on the shoulder with a chuckle. "There, see? It's fun, right?"

Esfir

Already Esfir was enjoying herself far more with this Hatching than the last one she'd been present at. The chaos was cheerful and playful rather than well... scary. She'd take happy chaos anytime.

All the same, she hadn't missed how Rio had ever so subtly put himself between the one green and the girls in their little group. But rather than risk hurting his feelings by telling him that she, at least, didn't need to be shielded, Esfir made a game of it, pretending like he was blocking her view. Setting her hands on his arm, she peeped around his side and laughed.

"You're too tall! I can't see."

Then, her laughter caught a note of true delight as more dragons hatched and two found their riders.

"Oh, isn't it wonderful," she breathed. "They're all so beautiful!"

Standing with as much grace as the infant could manage, the Ducky Bronze observed the crowd with growing dismay. Oh dear, oh dear. This would not do at all!

He padded delicately over to the Pale Blue and White Patterned egg, and tapped lightly upon its shell.

Rio

Rio didn't not like the bossy green - especially now that it was clear that she really was just bossy - nor had he ever been upset with her in any way. He'd just been concerned about what she might do, considering she'd hatched red-eyed and irritable. Better safe than sorry, after his first Hatching, especially when there were people around him he cared about. He would hope, sincerely, that none of the hatchlings would cause anyone any harm, but not blindly trust that that was the case. He'd like to keep Alya (and everyone else) lucky and mauling-free, if that was at all possible.

But with no one looking angry or particularly dangerous for now, he was happy to relax - and shoulder teasingly into Esfir when she peeped around him and complained that he was too tall. "I'm not that tall," he laughed, looking pointedly at Dorianus, "You're just that short."

It was all perfectly lighthearted, no real dig intended, and he did obligingly move over a step after his initial playful resistance.

As for the bronzes, he shrugged and smiled. "Who knows? Maybe they're open-minded sorts!"
