It was barely noticeable, but it was there- that tell-tale glimmer of silver. Ansheth-
I see it. The dragon answered, without waiting for his rider to finish. He moved forwards, and with a precise flame, seared another clump from the sky.

There was another small clump- the Wings above them must have been occupied with much larger sheets. He urged his dragon forwards, his heart beating heavily in his chest. Wordlessly, with all of the skill of a grown and mature bronze, Ansheth destroyed the offending Thread.
6. A strong gust of wind suddenly pushes you off course and right into a sliver of Thread! If you're a bronze or brown, you or your dragon take a scathing hit, unable to get out of the way. [Minor Damage -3 HP] If you're a blue or green, you wind up twisting easily out of the way, flaming it down successfully! [+1 Stamina]
The wind suddenly turned fierce, a surprise thermal pushing Ansheth off-course. Watch out- O’dyn began, fingers tightening on the straps. Too late, for a sliver of Thread lanced his dragon’s hindquarters as he attempted to twist out of the way.
There was no need for prompting: Ansheth vanished Between, reappearing once again in formation.

Attentive to their Wingleader's call, Nasath and A'iel shifted as he bid... and then cried out as thread scored along their flank. Flame rolled out of the bronze's maw as he wheeled, charring a swath down before he leapt between. That had smarted... but at least they'd gotten the enemy back for it!
Perhaps it had been inevitable that, sooner or later, their luck during this bad 'Fall would run out. First, as they returned from between, a large tangle of Thread caught Mazamath's wing, sending him blinking away again before it could eat too great a hole in the sail. The stalwart dragon wavered slightly in the air when they returned, prompting a spike of concern from His, but he steadied himself and reassured her. It was nothing to worry about, and they would be done soon enough! But then a change in formation left them vulnerable, and he took a score to his haunches.
The blue muscled through it, however, and kept on fighting. As he did so, Adi spotted one of their bronze wingmates in danger, and Mazamath dove to help - calling out a warning as he did so, as being flamed would be no less painful than being scored. Nasath, 'ware!

Roll: 13 - Trying valiantly to catch some thread, your dragon flames a bit sooner than you would have preferred. Surprisingly enough, the flame is long, hot, and sustained longer than usual. Your dragon manages to flame the clump and return to their position in their wing. [+1 Flame Length] HP: 33/40 Status Effect: None. XP: Luck +1, Stamina +9, B. Accuracy +1, F. Length +2, T. The sight of thread this far down was upsetting to say the least. It couldn't be allowed to reach the ground! Eager, even overeager, Nasath belched flame at the stray clump... and though A'iel cried out that it was too soon, the fire reached its mark, the flame shooting hotter and longer than it had before. Well... no complaints from them!

A sharp eye caught trouble brewing, and the bronze gave a loud bellow of alarm at his wingmate. Pipith! Above you! A clump of thread was hurtling towards them, and the other bronze was, like himself, probably too large to simply duck out of its path...!
The wind really was dreadful, and after taking such a heavy scoring, it was that much harder to fight. In spite of his best efforts to fight it, Mazamath was blown out of formation, and even returning to it was a struggle. He was tired. Ah, but there was Alcherath with a very welcome distraction from his exhaustion, a whimsical thought about the clouds, and redberry sauce. If you wish wherry for dinner, then you should certainly have some. I should think we've all earned a nice wherry, after today. Perhaps even a taste of sauce...

With a flap and a flame the bronze's fire claimed another patch of thread that had reached their low altitude. The thought of a single bit getting through the ranks to destroy lives and the world below... no. Never. They would die before they let that happen.

They could get there, they could reach the clump...! A sudden alert from Mazamath sent them winking between just in time, as a beat later the wind shifted in such a way that it would have viciously flung the thread onto them instead of into the path of their flame. Reappearing, the bronze bugled a brief thanks to the blue, glad to have avoided the hurt.

In spite of the pain and the growing ache in his muscles, Mazamath stayed on point, and was quick to spot a drifting clump. He wheeled around just in time to burn it to ash.

Perhaps it had something to do with the knowledge that their part was nearly done, but Mazamath found himself with something of a second wind, and as he came out from a short hop between, he spotted and eagerly flamed down another sliver of Thread.

Adi fed him more firestone as he required it, only for them both to wince as he bit down on his tongue while chewing it. Oops.
