 Yesterday, I got the random idea of my Supernatural OC traveling with John Winchester instead of the Winchester brothers (Dean and Sam).
Originally my thought was of her traveling with him before being with Mary. But then after refreshing my memory of John's timeline, he didn't become a hunter until after Mary's death. So... it would have to be during that "hunting trip" period. And clearly he's had a few "relationships" after Mary, so it works a bit better storyline wise.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" yelled Dean, seeming to puff up his chest to look more imitating.
"I'm as much of a Winchester as the two of you are," replied Charity, calmly.
"But you knew our Dad?" asked Sam, clearly wanting to keep the conversation civilized.
"Yeah," answered Charity. "And he was quite the guy."
"The next thing I hear you say better not be that he was your father," muttered Dean.
"Oh no!" exclaimed Charity, looking at Dean with wide eyes. "We aren't like that at all. Though we may have used the father-daughter roles a few times when investigating cases."
"You hunted together?"
"For a time," Charity shrugged. "But I think you know what was on your father's mind the entire time. It consumed him. Eventually he didn't want to do anything else but seek revenge for the loss of your mother. I know he lost many friends over it. He may not have fully realized it... but I was still there for him, if he ever needed my help."
"How did you learn of his-" asked Sam.
"Sacrifice?" finished Charity. "Hunters talk, Sam. They're as bad as housewives. It doesn't take long for word to get passed through the grapevine."
