Devon walked into the experimentation room and made sure that both John and Apsalar were strapped down to the table and stipped of all clothing. He walked over to the counter and pulled out a pair of white medical examination gloves. Devon pulled the gloves on and then picked up a couple clipboards. He then walked over to the two chimerae and looked down at them. They were separated from each other by a few feet so they could not come in contact.
Apsalar would also have a hard time tipping the examination table as it was built with a strong solid base.
After getting annoyed by the scratching, Devon picked up a tool that appeared to be some sort of small electric sander. He grabbed one of Apsalar's hands and took the tool to her nails.

Apsalar hissed at him viciously. She hated the sander - it smelled awful and they kept hitting blood vessels in her claws because they went too far down. She didn't know if that was on purpose or not, but she didn't care. It hurt, and she was no masochist.
...Most of the time.
Irritably, she used the few inches of spare room she had to snatch her arm back and out of the sander's reach. If only she had a bit more space, she could try to claw him too. Two in one day would be...well, fatal for her, but it might be worth it.
With the hand that the scientist wasn't trying to file the nails of, Apsalar kept up her annoying scratching. It wasn't solely to piss off Devon, although that was an interesting side benefit. The scratching was a nervous habit, and one of the reasons she was rarely brought down to the experimenting room - the sound just annoyed most of the experimenting scientists enough that they wanted nothing to do with her.
Now she was using it to her advantage, to see what would happen.

AninOnin ((I'm confused. What exactly are Lonomia and Iruka doing?)) ((Sorry, sorry; Idk about Iruka, but Lonomia is just excited that he may be able to come in close contact with someone without having to worry about stabbing and invenomating them.))

opheliatic_autumn (( ...Soooo confused. I will just go with it. )) ((I will, er, attempt to explain. Lonomia does not get much human/Chimera/whatever contact, because each of his hairs is a spine that automatically injects a dangerous hemotoxin, and there are hairs everywhere [pretty much] on the body, and he's only getting more of them since he is thirteen [ha, ha; puberty sucks]. So he is now expirimenting with Iruka to see if Iruka can withstand the hemotoxin. Obviously fingertips won't tell the whole story, but the boy is excited. Make sense?))

((Ah, okay. That clears some stuff up biggrin Thank you.))
Deep in the recesses of John's mind, the Chimera heard the irritating scritch, scritch, scritch from Apsalar. Somehow, subconsciously, he knew it was a good thing for him, something that was helping him whether the scratcher did it deliberately or otherwise.

Once Devon sanded the nails on that one, he walked over to the other side and sanded the nails on that hand. Once all the nails were trimmed down, he put the sander away.
Devon then rolled over a tray full of many different types of tools. He looked down at Apsalar with cold piercing eyes and picked up a scalpel. He began cutting her abdomen open to inspect her insides. He was making Apsalar's experimentation extra long and painful because she injured Yani. Devon called for another scientist to come in and help. The scientist put on a pair of medical gloves and a medical mask and then went over and helped suction up the blood and gave Devon some aid with his work.

((OOC: *has the feeling that her earlier post was only half-read* Also, um, ow.))
Apsalar's rising hiss was the only sound besides that of the sander as Devon continued filing her nails down. She actually swiped at him once or twice, unfortunately missing both times due to the restraints. If only she could face one of the scientists on even ground. Just once. She wasn't a creature of bloodlust by nature, or so she told herself. But the idea of getting her claws really into one of them...
It sustained her for a few minutes.
Then Devon wheeled up the surgery tray.
s**t.
She supposed she should have seen that coming. After all, she'd been a very bad girl (not that it hadn't been wonderfully worth it). And when he picked up the scalpel, relief shot through her so fast she had to shut her eyes so that the scientist wouldn't see it. At least it wasn't the needles. The needles always made her spazz like a mad thing.
But when Devon started cutting, her face set and her eyes stared back at him. She was not going to scream. She was not going to cry out, even if she had the words. He would not get the satisfaction.
The pain was increasing steadily. As it did, her eyes darkened and a crazy smile slowly spread across her face. She looked like the perfect stereotype of the eighteenth-century mental patient, being cut open and inspected with that insane smile firmly in place.
She tilted her head, almost seeming like she was trying to get a look at whatever they were looking at. After a while, though it was longer than some Chimera would have been able to take, the pain and the surreality of the entire thing overtook her to the point where she just couldn't stand anymore, and her eyes went filmy and faraway as she pulled back inside her mind somewhere - somewhere where they couldn't get to her short of, maybe, shock therapy.
Devon might have been cutting her open mostly to punish her, but if he was looking in the right place, he might accidentally stumble on an actual threat to the Chimera's health - there were funny discoloured areas along her digestive system. Clearly, the girl had gotten hold of something unhealthy and had been eating it when she got stressed out. Again.

opheliatic_autumn ((OWIE! Wouldn't she die?! Ouch! Damn I would hate to be a naughty chimera.)) ((Nope; so long as they made sure everything was sterile and she didn't bleed out. This is why people are usually put under for surgery, but that wouldn't be much of a punishment, would it? [/medical nerd]))

AninOnin Yani had a sudden idea. "Devon, I'm going to have to leave you for a moment. Better yet," he said, brightening, "why don't you accompany me?"
He moved a few things around on the touch screen, asking TAIS to keep John sedated and contained. Then he punched in some numbers on a pad next to the door and waited for the unlocked symbol. Then he moved down the hall and, turning a few corners, stopping at a door. He entered easily, no room barred before Mr. Vent. He spoke in a low voice with one of the scientists working on Project Upsilon before turning back to Devon.
"Upsilon is to be set against another Chimera in this facility. Will John be able to fight him? It would be inconvenient if John died, but I'm hoping the injuries he sustains from this fight will help explain the surgery. It will probably take a while for Jared to return."
Speaking of Jared... He followed Hiccadu's gaze to see two frightened eyes, one human, one feline. He started towards her, tramping through the underbrush.
Run!
She shot up through the trees, jumping higher and higher on the branches before a deceptively thick branch snapped, and she grappled for a handhold on her way down. Bark from the tree trunk scraped her hands and cheek, but she still found no way to slow herself.
Soon though, she spread her wings and felt a snap as the air caught them, lifting her for a brief moment. She pushed down hard, trying to get free from the tree, but instead her wingbone hit a branch. It would be bruised only slightly later on, but for now she instinctively brought her wing in, sending her falling once more. She hit the soft, mossy ground with an oommph! and lay there for a moment, trying to regain her breath.
Rei! Help me! I tried to move with a cool hand... It didn't go as I planned.
I'm full of rookie maneuvers... and gestures meant to be grand.
"My daisy, you make me go crazy, forever amaze me. Now let's let the day go lazy."
((Okay, so I have the nets and I'm back in action. Sorry for the delay.
And hey there Miinefield. Long time no see. ;D
Has TAIS been called for anything since I've been gone?))
Hiccadu leaped up as Panther hit the earth, and she slammed on top of the poor girl, pinning her to the earth with each front claw on either side of the girl's shoulders.
"Hey there," the beast growled, showing off her impressive fangs. "Where do you think you're going?"
"My daisy, you know what I'm after- your musical laughter. A more beautiful disaster..."
I cant believe what you create... When you let your heart detonate.
You leave a path of delightful destruction. You're quite the bomb, my daisy... Daisy Cutter ~ 311

Devon took a surgical light and was inspecting Apsalar's organs. When he finished, he stitched her back up while the other scientist suctioned up any remaining blood. Devon took off his bloody gloves and put on a new pair. He then took a surveilance tube used for inspecting the inside of the body and stuck it in Apsalar's mouth. He forced the tube down into her stomach. "My my. Eating what you're not supposed to again, I see" the doctor said as he fed the tube into her stomach and saw discoloration along the stomach walls. "Looks like I'm going to have to operate" Devon said.
Of course, Devon never used anaesthasia when operating. He never felt he needed to use it.

((OOC: O.O Wait. He's cutting into the stomach? Like, cutting it right open and unleashing all the hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes and such on the rest of her body? Have I pointed out that I don't want her to die quite yet?))
Apsalar had already retreated so far into her own mind that she couldn't even feel the pain. That was what mental strongholds were for, after all, and the human body was an amazing thing - although she twitched and shifted around a little, it was mostly due to her nervous system automatically responding. Her mind was feeling nothing.
Nothing at all.
She remained in that blissful dream state silently, not doing more than giving an occasional twitch. If Devon wanted her to suffer, he wasn't really going about it the right way - Apsalar had successfully escaped it thus far.
Her odd amber eyes were still open, but they were empty and lifeless. If it hadn't been for the slow, shallow up-and-down motion of her chest as she breathed, she might easily have been mistaken for dead.
