Three and a half breaths later, Herg'r and Hyglath were back, the bronze eyes a peculiar mix of gray and blue as he hissed with the glorious sting of pain. Oh, it was good day to be alive and fighting! That was a good one, Herg'rMine!

His rider laughed and slapped a large hand against his neck. Come on then, we've got work to do!

On they went to fight and flame, but Thread hadn't had quite enough of them yet! A clump blew up from below to wrap around Hyglath's tail, but after a quick trip between only the sting remained.

L'rel gripped the riding straps tight as they continued to tumble, only just missing thread and sent a wave of calm and reassurance to Devith.
Calm down, take a breath Devith. Stop fighting the wind do much , we have to start moving with it to some degree or we will never gain any ground, now concentrate and find the flows.

Still struggling the dragon took a steadying breath and tried to do as her rider instructed. It was true as soon as she turned her wings, stopped trying to fighting the most powerful gusts and slipped into the more forgiving eddies, she found her 'footing' again. Just as she did a clump of silver writhing thread flew straight at them. Devith could only twist to avoid it. However they were back in formation now and they knew the rest of the wing would find it.

Better, but the first battle just to find stable wing had already battered the green and L'rel was worried how long they could truely last.

1/5: Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, but your dragon is just too tired to care. The wind is too much! On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect, Guilt, Bitten Tongue, etc.) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care. The only exception is if you get a status that cures Fatigue or your Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls a status cancelling roll.)
2/5:You mange to pull off a quick save with some fancy wing-work! Instead of getting hit by some stray strands, you're able to roll out of harm's way! While you weren't able to catch it, you're certain one of your wingmates will.

As L'rel had feared Devith's control of the winds didn't last long, her muscles still aching and tired, another good gust and the poor green and her helpless rider were sent reeling again. Devith's great wings were perfect for catching the deadly wind but her muscles clearly weren't good enough to fight against it.

This time their luck was not as good as before and they were blown straight into a clump of silver thread, it hit Deviths side and instantly started to clung and burrow into her warm hide.
With the greatest of effort L'rel took firm mental hold on both of them and forced Devith between.

The icy cold swallowed them, freezing the thread before it could do more than surface damage, but the score was still cracked and bloody, painful. They broke back out into the treacherous winds panting.

Round 1:
Roll 1: Encouragement Boon

Zetigeth leapt into the air with the rest of his wing and following the formation he popped between and instantly was in the fray. He and his rider were flying in the high altitude with his daughter and Aly was somewhere up here as well, though there was nothing that he could do to help that right now, all that mattered in this moment was the Thread around him and his wingmates that were flying in formation around them. Large wings spreading out, the little brown dragon flamed everything as best he could, catching sheets and clumps, strings and single spores. His movements were smooth, his twists were sound, it was starting out well at least and his heart soared with his rider's as they cleared a large spot.

Dodging a clump he turned his head and cast a flame back towards it so it wouldn't affect those below him as it fell and the dragon sent a roar of encouragement to his whole wing. They had this together, they could do it as long as they were together and held strong.

L'rel, beloved, at this rate we will be nothing but a burden that drags down our wing.
The green cried miserably to rider, aching and in pain with ichor oozing from her side like the blooming of foul flowers. L'rel patted her neck and tried to calm her, but he could see they were right, the high winds were proving to much for the green.

Calm down, think, we are going about this the wrong way, steady, as soon as you find your balance again, don't hesitate, start flaming, there is enough of the stuff about it won't matter where our aim is blown, we just have to get it out of the sky.

Devith seemed to find courage in this idea and as L'rel suggested, as soon as the wind dropped enough for her to find any sort of level she parted her great jaws and spat streams of flame at the ancient menace.
It fell as ash and Devith found her second wind.
She angled her wings and Soarrrred, flaming as she went.

This is what your dragon was made for, this is what you, as a rider, were meant to do. Burn down those Threads so they are no longer a threat to your wingmates and the people of Pern! Your dragon flames a patch ahead of them, clearing some airspace for your wingmates below. +1 Flame Length(Negated by fatigue)

After helping out his wingmate, Nachith was feeling great about himself, and determined to keep up the good work - had had ladies to impress, after all! But after zipping between to avoid thread, he reappeared right in the midst of another sheet and was sent screaming back to the darkness to rid himself of the tangling silver.

As he screamed his way back out from between with fresh tatters in his wings, he could feel the resulting panic rising in His, and turned his thoughts to B'ram. Mine! Mine, are you alright? Did it hit you?

N-no was the shaky answer, but still his chest tightened and his heart raced, and he struggled to breathe. With B'ram's focus shattered and Nachith's entirely on him, they missed the Thread that came for them until it was too late, and it settled over the blue's head to feast. He shrieked and flashed out of sight again, and by some miracle managed to get back to the Weyr.

His panicked landing was heavy, and his body screamed in protest, but he didn't have time for fine landings, only to make a beeline for the nearest tub of water and shove his head into it with a splash.

Still on board, B'ram could do little more than pant and grasp hard at the straps with clenched hands, trying to fight back the panic and losing as it wove together with Nachith's pain. But even in the midst of his pain, the blue maintained himself, and concern for his wingmates...especially the pretty ones.

Sweet Devith, he sent, I'm afraid I must go back on my word. You will have to continue the fight without me. Be safe if you can, please!

Even though Devith had shaken off the worst of her exhaustion with a fresh surge of Adrenalin and the shared joy of seeing thread burn it had not negated the tear at her muscles from the initial battering of wind.
She could feel it every time she turned or swooped. So could L'rel, but it was bearable. They could bare it together. L'rel gritted his teeth.

Suddenly the hideous sound of a dragon scream cut through the whooshing of flame and roar of wind.
Nachith!

The green cried and turned towards him but he was already gone.
L'rel was almost afraid to ask.
Is..he?
No, thank Farranth he made it back to the weyr, he is hurt though, poor dear.Though he is still trying to sweet talk, it is a good sign Devith added fondly.
L'rel nodded, surprised at the relief he felt when he had considered himself so detached from his fellows. He knew it to be the greens sweet nature and concern getting to him.
Devith spouted another guttural burst of flame as she touched Nachith's mind
You just rest now, we will see an end to this thread for you.

The wind was strong, and with two near misses, Mishaath was strung so tense that, of course, it all ended up coming to a head. An especially strong gust sent her knobs over tailfork, wheeling and nearly falling. This wing was strained, that one was yanked, and though she finally managed to stop tumbling through the sky, even her lightning speed had been dampened. Staying aloft and flaming what thread came near was even a trial—rejoining the wing? Might as well ask the tiny green to fly to the moon and back.

As Aviroth bore V’mel upwards, up into the altitude more often held by the Low Tier flights, things got busier. More thread to sear, more tense moments for his weyrlings. His head was ever on a swivel, and Aviroth continued to placidly inform him of any twangs of fear or worry or pain from those dragons under his command. Together the pair seemed entirely competent, if somewhat distracted...and when a clump was wind-driven towards them too fast to flame...!

They simply winked between, reappearing on the far side of the patch, still scanning and flaming and observing as if the close call had been entirely planned.

Lestenna of Gold Uridith
Round 1-3
Roll: 18 - A sudden gust of wind kicks up, threatening to push your dragon out of formation. Thankfully, this gust doesn't have anything on your dragon! You easily fight through it, and find your dragon isn't really winded at all. All that exercise and training seems to be paying off. +1 General Stamina

Despite the lingering pain in Uridith’s back, she flew on. What mother would not happily carry pain to soare their child from it? She ducked her head to let Lestenna toss flame this way and that, crooning support at the golds around and all those who moved through her airspace. The winds were strong, and one particular gust snagged her broad wings...to no effect. She might not be the biggest gold, but she was still a large dragon. She plowed through the squall unbothered.
