Mel nodded to Fiona. "Do you know anyone else who knows their way around here? My sense of direction is terrible at the best of of times so I'd be useless alone." The girl before Mel looked so small. "I also don't think anyone should go out anywhere in a group less than three."
Mel had no idea why she was taking charge. Maybe it was her fear of doing nothing that was for once overpowering her fear of people disagreeing with her. She did, however, hope someone else might take over soon, she wasn't sure how long she could keep up.
She looked back at Eileen. "Eileen, you said you have some stuff. Let's take inventory. Exactly how much do you have?" They laid out her things and took stock.
((I'm not exactly sure what Eileen has packed so I'm kinda gonna leave it up to you, Bittersweet))

Bittersweet nodded expertly, taking out her meticulously organized things, explaining, "I figured that I needed enough for a month, just in case."
She pulled out about 40 things of everything, all air sealed in plastic bags.
"Fourty shirts, eighty socks, eighty pairs of underwear, fourty bottoms, jeans, shorts and skirts and quite a few hair things. Two toothbrushes, a couple of toothpaste tubes. And a comb."
Burying deeper inside, she said, "Bags and bags of chips--organic mind you--Dried fruit, packaged vegetables, soup, and things like that. Then, I have my cooler on my side, full of water bottles and chilled foods."
"My teddy bear, my two comfortors (Blankets) and a sleeping bag."
Deciding to explain why she had so much stuff, she said, "I didn't know whether or not I'd have a place to stay, or how long I'd do it. Or if I'd do it outside. This would have lasted ME a month, and more, actually, to be cautious. No wonder it's so heavy...."
((And fitting all these into a suitcase and a cooler is not fanciful. Trust me. This and more fits into my parents' bigass suitcase.))

Fiona looked in her own backpack. "I as well have some items but it wasn't really for survival," she said. "I live a bit farther from here, so I know I usually just hang around town a lot. I have my cellar keys, which may come in handy if the things in the cellar are safe. I have a number of granola bars and energy-drinks... around 5 of each. two notebooks, 5 pencils, A change of clothes, a blanket, 3 hairbrushes and a toothbrush with toothpaste... so no one will have to worry about me for now. We have the little store near my house already, but does anyone know if the cellar may be safe too?" Her speeding voice was hard to comprehend for some people, but she did her best to keep it slow. She looked around at the group of people. "We all survived... Big brother would say this is no coincidence... Something is here that wants us to be together for some reason... My question is this: Does anyone know why?"

Eileen chose her words with deliberation, "I suppose you mean fate, right? Well, personally, Idon't believe in that, well, not really. I think fate can be changed, and someone obviously changed it with a bomb. I'm happy I got trapped with people who I know, and like." She shot a smile at Fiona, "But I don't think it's fate. Techinically speaking, we can still reproduce to make our nation great again, however, how about our exclusive, native animals? Where will they go?"
Sighing, and closing her eyes, Eileen said, "O no, I don't think this is fate at all. Man just screwed up. Again. Although that is assuming that that WAS a bomb, which I'm assuming due to the huge boom."

Griffin Bryant held tightly to Dru as he listened intently to Eileen and Mel's organization attempt. They were leaders. He was not. He usually played things out on his own, but now he couldn't He had Dru to look after. And if a bomb really had just hit, he knew there was safety in numbers. He looked over at a frightened Dru and smiled as warm a smile as he could conjure up. "Don't worry. Those girls know what they're doing," He hoped. "We'll make it through this, alright?" The words were just as much a consolation effort for himself as they were for Dru.
It was then that Griffin spoke up. "Umm... Yeah. My house wasn't really in town... More like just outside the city limits. It might've survived the primary blast, but I'm not positive. It's quite a few miles from here, but I've got plenty of food and stuff... Just... ya know. If anyone's interested."
At the mention of his house he thought about his mother. She hadn't been home when he'd left... She might've gotten there afterwards. All of his relatives lived miles away. They would be safe. Not that it made much difference to him. They all thought he was locked away in a mental ward... He shook the memory from his head and focused back on Eileen. He wasn't sure if his suggestion had been heard, but either way, he couldn't get rid of the sinking pit of sorrow in his stomach.

((...Well, dang. o_o I get kicked off for Mom's finals and everything goes boom. Literally.))
Ani looked around, everyone seemed to be taking charge. Quite frankly, she was scared. But most of all, she was confused. The stench of burning flesh was making her light headed and nauseous, and finally she lit up a cigarette, the smell of burning tobacco mostly cancelled out the more noxious odor.
"There's also the super center on the other side of town," she chimed in. "Camping supplies, clothes, shoes, bedding, canned goods, medicines, the works. If...if we're going to have to survive for any amount of time, we'll likely need some of those things."
There was one thing that she was surprised no one had checked. "Is anyone hurt? A blast like that might have shaken some things loose, knocked people over. I'm trained in first aid if anyone needs it."

"It seems we have plenty of options that may still exist! My questions may become a bit annoying after a while, and for that I apologize... But does anyone know how we're to group up for these errands? It's already been said we don't know how safe it is to wander alone..." She quit talking after that. Her gentle hands clenched each other in worry. Her white knucles were becoming as pale as she felt from the unsureness that swelled up within of how things would turn out. Her hope was bouncing in all directions and she didn't have an idea of how to feel.

Lee sat down to think,
"We'll need to group up, 'Cause no-one goes anywhere alone. At all. You need to go to the toilet, You get an escort. The only problem is communication."
He glanced at his phone, "Seeing as I have no signal, and I doubt anyone else will for the moment, Phones are out of the question. We have another few choices. We could either shout alot, or find some long range radios or walkie-talkies."
This isn't what I had planned for the day, but... He sighed slightly, Looks like I'm gonna have to deal with it. Time to grow up, Lee.
"I'm not suggesting that we start looting the shops, but considering the situation, I don't think it'd be too much of a problem if we borrowed some radio gear for the moment, do you?" He hardly paused for the answer, "I have some radios at my dorm, and I know they're charged"

Griffin spoke up again. "Yeah. Initially, we should probably all go to get communication, or else we'll have to leave a small team behind here to keep an eye on things. We don't know how long our cell signal will be blown, but until we get it back, we will need communication." Griffin hugged Dru to him again. All he had. As he gazed around at the other assorted teens and young adults he began to wonder what all they had lost. He knew that at least some of them had lost almost everything, and he felt guilty. As if he should've lost more. His life, or most of it, remained intact. That is to say, as long as this was the only bomb that was dropped.

John, who was usually the kind of man to get right on top of things, was still quite shaken by this whole afair. Finally, with enough sensible people around him, making things happen, his mind began to work.
"I think we'll need to have some way of blocking out the smell if we're going to go outside. Hankerchiefs or maybe some spare clothes around the mouth and nose will help. Soon enough, it won't be burnt flesh, but... ugh... burnt rotting flesh, as queasy as that makes me saying. The more we can block it out the better."
John was starting to get into his swing; and he was a natural leader.
"We should check for survivors. Not that it's likely, but we're likely better situated than anyone else would be. We're all whole and unharmed, save for that smell."
There were nods of approval. John was laying out a sensible plan, and with everyone contributing information, action seemed close.
"So, here is my proposal," John said, "First, we use some shirts to block out the smell, then a team can go out and get some communication: Lead by Lee, because he has a good idea of where some is. The rest of us can stay here and set up a base-camp, and scavenge whatever we can around here to make life more confortable. "We'll need to start taking some of these chairs out, to make a wider living space, and we can use the cloth, batting, and whatever other materials we can take to insulate the theater and make clothes. "Once Lee and his team get back, we can set out to get everything else we need; including food, sleeping bags, medical supplies, lighting, energy, cooking supplies, and anything else we can get. Any objections, or can we get out and get this done?"

((WW, no one survived outside of the bomb. You can ask Eien if it's okay, but...))
Eileen stepped down, relieved that someone else seemed to have taken over. She was no leader, but she was calm-minded, and that seemed o be what they needed. Taking a spot beside Lee; the only one she really knew, she piped up, "I'll go with Lee."
She held up her handkerchief which she had bought and carried in her pocket that day, simply because she thought the embroidery was pretty.

"Anyone going out to look for survivors should at least be trained in first aid. And starting with the area around the hospital would probably be our best bet. I'll go with that team, once we're ready to split up."
Well, well, she's not being a b***h anymore. Guess it did take the apocalypse for her to straighten up. She'll likely be back to full form once the shock wears off.
