After grabbing a couple cold drinks from the vending machine down the hallway, Charity returned to their room. She casually looked around as she inserted the key into the lock device before stepping inside. It took a few minutes for her eyes to readjust after being out in the bright sunlight and finding herself in the dim room.
With a quick glance around the room, her eyes landed on John stretched out on the couch with gun in hand asleep. The corner of her mouth raised upwards. She knew the long night of driving was going to catch up to him sooner or later, no matter how stubborn he was about it. As much as I she wanted to leave him sleeping there, she knew John would be cross with her if she did. They were here in this town on business, after all.
"Sleeping on the job, are we?" said Charity finally.
John's eyes opened instantly upon hearing her voice. It took just a moment before he focused on her.
"Sorry, you were saying?" asked John.
"I'm sure delaying one day from tracking down this monster isn't going to be the end of the world, John," said Charity, holding out the can of Coke out to him.
John laughed, rubbing his face as if he would be able to rub the lack of energy away. He gazed back at her with a twinkle in his eye.
"You know I can't let that happen."
Charity shrugged as she smirked, "Yeah. Still doesn't hurt to suggest the idea."
