S'del of bronze Kindeth

Round 1: Day 1
1. 14 > +1 Flame Length
2. 13 > Rolled 4 > Over 30' > +2 Flame Length
3. 8 > Ruh-roh. Direct hit. > Rolled 2 forcing him back to the Weyr. Face damage! -5 HP
4.
5.

S'del flinched when A'ye grabbed his hand away from his face -- but another part of him knew that his face was absolutely fine. Kindeth's pain was simply searing through their link, and that echo of hurt was difficult to control. The water, thankfully, had helped; and though the bronze refused to lift his head, the shock and adrenaline was starting to set in. "His face, yeah," he confirmed, eyes wide with alarm. "He doesn't want to move," he sighed, his breath shaky even as he tried to calm himself, and regain control. It wouldn't do his bronze any good, and he'd work through this.

He was fine. The pain wasn't his, but he could share it with his bronze. Come on, Kind. It's okay to hurt. Let me take some of it, okay? Be a good one and let the healer see. He tried to be soothing, trying to share his dragon's pain now that he was ready for it.

"Kindeth, come on, we can't help if you don't get your head out of that tub." He reached out to stroke the dragon's neck, leaning against the bronze, and tracing the dragon's patterns tenderly with a hand. "Just one look, okay?"

The bronze shifted. He knew he couldn't keep his head in the water forever, and that there was still a need to fight. The sooner they were healed, the sooner they could go back and be a good fighting pair. Besides, there was a small green being very encouraging, and nice, and if he was brave, then he wouldn't keep his head in the water. And S'del was there, and Oyath, and A'ye, and. . . . It just hurt.

I don't think I'm brave. I was dumb. I flew right into it. The despondent bronze confessed to Cynosuth. Still. He knew he couldn't stay here all day.

Slowly, the dragon lifted his head from the tub. The threadscore had caught him well on his face; it had looped around his neck, under his throat, and chin; a large chunk had tangled around his left eye, headridge, snout, chin, and cheek. "That's not so bad," S'del assured, though there was a slightly panicked expression mixed with his forced smile. "The healer'll have you patched up in no time, right?" Yep. Fine, this was fine. Everything was fine. Nothing some numbweed and redwort wouldn't fix.

((He'll need some stitching on some of the deeper wounds, and though his eye is not blinded, the lens is likely hurt. Kind of like when my old cat had his eye scratched; looked ugly, needed treatment, but should heal with time. Probably okay to fight the next Round, but might have a bit of a fuzzy spot S'del is going to have to watch out for. ))

Nimueh scolded her expression to calm determination as V'kenti spoke, she simply nodded her agreement and understanding, they had been over the drills and plans a million times, there was little more to say. Yet she felt the weight of his expectations and the responsibility of caring for her wing settle heavily on her shoulders.
Once the speeches were done and the wing gathered Nim turned to her big brown waiting so patiently.
Mharlith extended his leg allowing Nimueh to step onto it and lifting it high till she could grab the riding straps and swing herself onto his great back with practiced ease.

Then it was only a matter of securing herself and waiting as the final order came and they rose as one.

Mharlith was already busy nosily chewing Firestone but he managed to call out a parting message of encouragement to Galxath.
Everything will be fine, we were born to do this. I expect nothing more than a few thread scores, but hold ready, you might well be needed before the first round is up.

He wanted the blue to stay calm but also be ready.

As they flashed between to their starting point the pair quickly discovered the realities of the wind warning. It hammered at them instantly, trying to nail them out of the sky. Luckily Mharlith was such a large dragon, with some small adjustment he managed to hold his place in the formation and start scanning for thread.

Thread, aided by a gust of wind, sought another taste of the pair, but they saw it in enough time to blink between to avoid it (pain and scars were all well and good, but they didn't need to deliberately collect them!). They reappeared above, safe for the moment.

Round 1
[1]The wind picks up, and you fight to keep in formation. Your wings strain, but you're able to keep your place! Though your muscles ache, you're not going to give up so easily. Pern depends on you! +2 Stamina
[2] You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!? Roll a D4. D4: Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has e
aten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUCKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get ducked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option

[3]The healer looks at your wound and gives a shake of their head. The prognosis doesn't look good, but they're determined to patch you up as best they can! Return Request Denied! Regain +5 HP but re-roll from the Healers Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return
[4]The healer looks at your wound and starts trying to patch you up. They're not being particularly gentle on you, but you can tell they're quite invested in making sure your wound (or your dragons) heals right! Unfortunately, that's going to take some time. Return Request Denied! Regain +5 HP but re-roll from the Healers Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return!

Wingleader Chance Rolls
[1]5-7. If a Wingleader, you were so focused on chewing out one of your wingriders who pulled a stupid move, that you actually miss catching a large clump of Thread that's falling right past you. A nearby wingmate winds up taking the hit -- as they were busy flaming a different clump of Thread and hadn't time to notice. Quote a Single Wingmate and have them lose -5 HP!
[2]8-13. Well, things seem to be okay! You're doing your job, as you should. Nothing's going wrong right now... but nothing seems to be going overly right, either. Just another day fighting Threadfall.

Thanks to their wingmate's well-timed warning, they managed to avoid a crisping, but soon after, a stray strand of Thread escaped their notice as they concentrated on clumps of the stuff, and took the opportunity chew on the edge of Dobrokoth's wing. They quickly hopped between, and returned with minimal damage. It was barely even a sting!

Ash, shaffit! That stung a bit, sharding wind! Still, it little more that, and inconsequential in the long run, since there seemed to be no Thread in it left alive.

QUEENS' WING
=Flying First Wave=
V'tre of Green Thanoth
Round 1-3
Roll: 5 - Well, not much is happening. Either the Wings are doing their job, or things are mighty quiet. You know your thoughts shouldn't wander or stray.... but you look away for a moment, stretching your neck, and resettling yourself on your dragons back. Unfortunately, things happen quickly. Your dragon lets out a shriek of pain as you're hit with Thread! You hadn't seen it fall from behind, too far back from where your dragon could see. - It's a nasty tangle that gets over you and your dragon! Though they pop Between, it's caught part of their wingsail, and may have burrowed into their sensitive stomach and side. Better hope the cold of Between gets all of it! Major damage -10 HP

Of course, nothing gold could stay. When the next clump came, she was too busy admiring her reflection in the shining hide of one of the golds to notice it, falling right for her exposed flank...and the same already tattered wing! The pair screamed as just-healed wounds were threaded again, snapping between...and returning just barely above the ground, back at the weyr. The green slumped to the ground, thankfully alive, but even her sarcastic, morbidly-funny mood was dampened as she strained to hold out her now mangled wing for the healers.

V'tre for his part refused to leave the saddle, splaying himself bodily along the green's neck and spine, as if he could wrap her up tight in his arms and hide her away from any more danger, any more pain.

Quote a Wingmate who took Thread Damage and nullify it for this Round!

- - - -
Though there was ample damage, the blue dragon was small, agile, and thus far had no trouble. Though the wind blew Thread his way, the dragon was easily able to avoid the silver threads, and with a spray of flame, turned them into harmless ash.

Still, both H'sad and Cinonth tried to keep an eye on their fellow wingmates when they could... just in case.

V'rind of Blue Krahsujunth
Round 1-3
!!Tongue Bitten 1/3!!
Roll: 9 - Your dragon notices a sudden writhing stream of silver thread out of the corner of his or her eye. If a white, green, or blue, with surprising grace, they turn on a wingtip and manage to flame it to ash. You successfully flame it down. [+2 Target Accuracy]

Fianth's recovery steadied the blue somewhat...but not enough to keep his anger in check. Any flash of silver drew his attention, even one that made him pull an uncharacteristically graceful turn to chase down. Every strand he flamed was one less threatening his weyr, his beloved. He scorched it with extreme prejudice.

They emerged from the ash cloud in time to spot someone in trouble, but with not quite enough time for the brown to swoop in and save them from all three clumps that were descending towards them. Dobrokhoth cried out in warning and flamed what he could, and fortunately, they ducked between before the clumps that followed could hit them.

Round 1-4
!!Fatigued 1/3!!
Roll: 6 - As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formation! If less than 22 feet, you get blown out of formation, but are agile enough to avoid getting hit with Thread. Hurry now -- better make it back before your Wingleader scolds you!

When the gusts continued, it was easier just to let the wind take her than to fight against it. Thankfully Tyila's wide, terrified eyes spied the thread before it connected, and with a massive effort, they were able to slip out of the way, floundering back to the wing...but only barely.

ASHLINGS WING
V'mel of Brown Aviroth
Round 1-4
Roll: 10 - You keep looking up, but nothing seems to be heading your way. Your neck is starting to object, but it doesn't matter. You must be ever vigilant, or so the saying goes. The Queen's Wing is an important position, but it sure can be boring... Part of you wishes you could be higher up, where all the action is. Part of you is grateful you're safer down here.

And back down. They wove from wing to wing, altitude to altitude, checking on the youngest of the riders. Those in the queen wing got a quick look over. They had been the worst off in the last attempt, and while they were technically the safest here, that didn't mean nothing could go wrong.
