Finnisa—High Reaches—She/Her Well, Finnisa wasn't sure why anyone'd worry about a gold, persay... even at Western, it was still a dragon, and wouldn't a gold be just lovely? She'd already chosen, so it wasn't to be this time, but she for one wouldn't have turned the little dear away. She glanced at Oreune, one shoulder raised in a mild shrug "I mean, true, I guess—"
And then Oreune was gone. A blur of green, and then a beat later, brown, came whirling into sight, and Finn went stumbling back away from the fray with wary eyes and a hammering heart. There wasn't anything she could do, she knew, miserable as it was... and a moment later she registered a small flicker of pain, where some wing claw or other sharp bit had probably grazed along the back of her hand in the tussle. Nothing major at all, but she tucked the hand to herself as she took another cautious step back, thoughts firmly locking down into a sense of forced calm, a sort of muted mental silence in lieu of registering any distress. The healers would come, once the dragonets had moved on...

Oreune
Now she could say she knew what it felt like to be bodied by a dragonet, and to be stabbed by one as well. It felt sort of like stabbing herself accidentally with the loom, except her adreneline was in full power run and having the air knocked out of her meant it was like seeing stars. Or nothing really, as she coughed loudly and attempted to get free from whatever was going on.
Except there was a claw near her gut, and every time she attempted to move she could feel it p***k and scratch and tear at her skin and she wanted to get up but shards and shells there was a dragonet fighting nearby and she'd been hit. "Get!" She wheezed, as the air tried to flood back into her lungs. "Get off!! Of me!!" Maybe she felt like she was yelling as loud as she could, but it was mere squeaks against the rumble of angry baby fighting.
There was no way she hadn't been scratched up pretty badly, but unless she could get to her feet (nope, not yet) there was a chance she was going to take a lot more pain. "Move, mo ooooooove!" Maybe she was yelling in her head. It probably all was in her head, but she needed to get up and so she was trying to push herself up and away before something else happened.
They weren't even here for her so why get her involved?! What the shards!

Rundanrul - Western
Well now, things were starting to get a bit hectic now that the queen had Impressed. Rundanrul's gaze flicked off the Butterfly bronze to watch Yellow Striped brown and Green Pink Striped green have at it, tearing each other and Candidates up as they went. He was glad it was happening elsewhere on the sands, leaving him to survey the rest of the clutch. So far it was all greens and blues aside from the one brown and bronze, so he eventually turned back to watching Butterfly sit there doing nothing.
---
Surel - Western
Feeling Etansi's attention turn to Dystzha, Surel realized a bit belatedly that drawing attention to Dystzha's tears might not have been the best idea. She knew if she'd gotten nervous or happy or whatever emotion had caused them she wouldn't want people looking at her and asking if she was all right.
Taking Dystzha's lead, Surel quickly turned back to the sands just in time for the golden queen to Impress and for two other siblings to start a bit of a rumpus, knocking into Candidates and sending them to the ground, blood and ichor starting to flow once more. Her enthusiastic smile faltered a bit at the sight but she stood her ground between the other two girls. If things came their way she'd probably step back again, but for now it was far enough that she didn't feel immediately threatened.
"Yeah...good on her," she said, trying to regain some of that forced enthusiasm. "Oh dear...this could get messy very quickly."
---
Vimeran - High Reaches
There went the queen, quite quickly too. That was for the best, Vimeran supposed, though he was honestly a bit surprised at how quickly the dragons were finding Theirs once they actually took the time to look. All three that had Impressed had done so on the first or second try, it seemed.
He was about to comment on the relaxed tone of the clutch when Yellow Swirl and Green Pink Striped went at it, talons and wings and tails flying every which way, Candidates on the ground and the sand soaking up spilled fluids.
"What was that about it being remarkably quiet?"
---
T'sar
From above, Adarith sent Iskernyk a wave of pride tinged with thanks. He wasn't the type to preen or seek compliments but he took them when they were given, certainly. T'sar told him how handsome he was but coming from someone else it made it a little different, less of a given.
"Perhaps another time, then." T'sar's attention was pulled back down to the sands as the noise level began to rise, the sounds of baby dragons fighting filling the area. He gave a delicate sniff and adjusted how the hem of his tunic was seated, glad that he'd never needed to be down there and risk life and limb to be chosen. It was rare, of course, and now he risked life and limb frequently, but the less messy, dangerous things he had to do in life the better. He counted himself among the lucky to be sure.
"Messy business, dragon riding. From Candidacy to the day you die," he said, a bit a forlorn tone to his voice.

Giving a squeak of distress, the Spotted Green green left the shards of her egg, and went trampling over the Candidates just trying to get to her sister who was lying in a pool of her own ichor. The infant, unaware that she herself was causing pain, raised up her wings timidly, their edges trembling slightly. With her form interposed between brother and sister, she shivered. S-S-Stop! S-s-stop! Please, d-don't... don't hurt each other!
The Green Striped Pink green hissed with confusion and anger, not understanding what was being asked of her. Why was someone yelling for her to get off? Go where?? He wouldn't get up! she said, in defense of herself. As though there could be a full defense, but... but she'd felt justified! And she was still so angry, claws digging where she stood, staring balefully at the Spotted Green green.
Yellow Striped brown hissed right back. SHE STARTED IT!!!!!!!!! SHE'S A MEANIE MEANIE MEANIEHEAD! And... and... he just wanted her to stop! Except the rising emotions around him were sending him into confusion too.

Quote: Zaexillia [WW] - 16 - she/her/hers - Candidate/Apprentice Healer
It was nice when things began to settle down. It seemed like there were a lot of shining personalities amongst the dragonets, and Zae enjoyed being able to appreciate each one. The little injured green was comforted, and even Impressed- her rider heroically carrying her to the dragonhealers. The healer within mentally nodded with pride at Rasthell’s actions. Sensible, of course- but surely the desire for food would weigh on him too (or so she imagined).
With the Impression of the gold to another woman, Zae turned her focus to the blues- but perhaps her attention would have been better off elsewhere. The Yellow Striped Brown and the Green Pink Striped Green seemed to have started a bit of a kerfuffle, and as the fight broke out candidates were knocked about.
She froze.
It wasn’t like her to panic- but she just… she hadn’t imagined a candidate being so bodily thrown. Or a _dragonet_, for that matter. And yet, here she was- Allamor moved to protect her and received a claw to the leg for his effort. Zae hadn’t been quick enough to move- staggering as the green scrabbled for purchase- claw lancing tender flesh. “Shells.” She breathed, the flash of pain a sharp reminder of the consequences of slow reactions. She fell backwards, determined to put more space between herself and the squabbling siblings.
Moments later she looked down, part of her thigh now red. The wound wasn’t deep, but it would need dressing. Slowly, mechanically almost, her training kicked in- clean it, disinfect it, wrap it. There was no water on the sands, no numbweed or redwort. She had her robe… Shaking hands moved to begin tearing strips from it. Of course, there were healers nearby, yet the girl had all but forgotten exactly how to get off the sands and out of further harm’s way. Need to dress it. Get the sand out.
Fascinating. It was her own blood.
And yet, the dragonets were agitated, and becoming even more of a danger to themselves. Absent-mindedly, without a true appreciation for the gravity of the situation, Zae began to make shushing noises. “Hey now, it’s all right, it’s okay. Just need to step back and make sure nobody else gets hurt okay? We’ll all get a turn to admire and appreciate you…” She wasn’t speaking to any dragonet in particular- even if they did choose to listen to her- but she hoped it was the calm, soothing tone they heard. Poor children.
