((OOC: Crap, I feel sick. This sucks.))
At last, Narcis took Katalina, who had not stirred throughout the entire episode, and said quietly, "When you find Nixie and Nezik..."
"We'll send them straight to you," Tianara promised. "Don't worry. Go on, take Sorry and hurry." She paused, hesitated for a minute or two, then said, "You might also want to check in on Riiya."
Narcis seemed to know what she was talking about, giving the girl a brief nod. "I was intending to." Shifting Katalina to a more easily held position, the Siren took off, back the way Tianara and Joshua had come.
Tianara glanced over at Joshua. "They'll be here soon," she said very softly. "What do you want to do?" She had had an idea, but wanted to hear what Joshua would say first.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... ((Not fun. >.< No one likes being sick.))
Joshua glanced at Narcis as he took off, taking Katalina with him. He breathed a small sigh of relief. Well, that was one less thing to worry about, though there were still plenty of other things.
He turned his attention at Tianara as she spoke to him. "I....I'm not sure...." He glanced between the girl and the junk yard. He seemed torn. "We need to find Jinx and Nezik as quickly as we can, but getting caught wouldn't help anything.....So....probably should hide....." He seemed unsure and looked at Tianara to see what she thought. The tiger that should be....isn't....

((OOC: AND I have to work tomorrow. D8 So I'm off to bed now, to try and sleep it off. Hopefully all will go well tomorrow - it's the new girl's first training day.))
Tianara seemed to be thinking again. "Why not let them guide us to Jinx and Nezik?" she suggested quietly. "We'll hide. I'm sure that if we leave the hatch open, they'll check to see if Narcis and Sorry are there. When they see that they aren't, someone will certainly go check on Nezik and Jinx. Then we'll know where they are."
She wasn't too sure about this idea, and it showed in her voice. Nevertheless, it was something - and at the moment, they needed a something. Anything. Especially something that might make it easier for them to find the other two.
After all, if Sorry had been injured, what was to say that Nezik and Jinx weren't in similar straits? That led Tianara to wonder if they had intended to bring someone to care for Katalina, or if they'd just left her there, so that she could die slowly and in a great deal of pain while Narcis watched, unable to do anything to help her.
The thought brought a fire into her eyes. She couldn't believe that any of the merfolk would be so cruel, but then, she hadn't thought until today that any of them would sink so low as to imprison their own kin.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... ((Good idea. Nightz!! Hope you feel better in the morning.))
Joshua's amber eyes lit up as her heard her idea. "Brilliant!" He whispered appreciatively. Tianara may not have been sure about the idea, but he thought it was a good one. And it was the best one they had right now.
He looked around them, looking for somewhere they could see but not be seen. And they had to find it fast, before whoever was coming arrived. A stay thought crossed his mind, wondering if it was any of the merfolk he knew personally. Then he shied away from the painful though, focusing on finding a good place to hide. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Tianara gave him a tentative smile in return. "Come on," she murmured. "There's a kind of cubbyhole under the sub - I found it while I was looking for something to prop up the door. We can hide in there." Gesturing, she dived. At first, it looked like she was just planning to lie on the ground and hope she wasn't noticed.
Then she gestured again, impatiently, and went up against the wall of the submarine. Sliding down a hole that was practically impossible to see until one was right there, she poked her head up and waved him in.
She was pleased with her idea now - not only because Joshua had thought it was good, but because now she'd get to see firsthand who had tried to hurt her loved ones. She would know the face, maybe the name, and once she did, she would personally see to it that everyone else knew, too.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Joshua followed her down, looking dubiously at the sub. It didn't look like there was any spot to hide. Then she slipped down the practically invisible hole and his eyes widened in surprise. He moved aginst the wall of the submarine, sliding down into the hole beside Tianara. "Good idea." He murmured softly, not wanting to be over heard.
He looked up from where they were hidden, waiting. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of person would do this to one of their own. Who would want a war? Especially a war where the merfolk were at a disadvantage? It just seemed suicidal and beyond stupid to him. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Tianara curled up within the hole in an attempt to make more room for them. Even then, the fit was rather dubious. So her voice was very quiet when she spoke to him - she was speaking practically into his ear, after all. "What're you thinking about...?"
She figured it was probably about the same thing she was wondering - who was stupid enough to want a war? Maybe whoever it was didn't realize the disadvantages the merfolk were at; an aquatic battle, as it would have to be, might seem on the surface of things to favour the merfolk, after all.
Wriggling around, she found herself a space where she could peek up through the hole without being seen. And just in time, too - she could hear voices approaching, and they were speaking in her tongue.
Shock, grief and anger chased each other quickly across her features. There was no question that those were voices Tianara knew. She peeped up through the hole again, and her entire face seemed to go cold and hard as stone. Then she looked down, gesturing to Joshua to take the peephole.
She didn't want to look anymore.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Joshua glanced at her and murmured quietly "Wondering who it is." He said, just as softly as she was speaking. He felt silent as he heard voices approaching. It was with frustration that he recognized the bubbly language, though he didn't understand any of it. 'Though I should ahve known they'd be speaking that.' He glanced at Tianara, hoping she would explain it all later. He was surprised to see the emotions running across her face.
It was with confusion that he moved to take the peephole. Who was it that was causing this for her? She clearly recognized the voices, which was not a good thing in his mind. He ran through the limited list of merfolk he knew, wondering about each of them. A thought crossed his mind. He'd only seen the merman for a brief time but Tianara's brother had certainly made his dislike of humans clear. Could it be him? Joshua gave up wondering and just focused on watching. The tiger that should be....isn't....

The group of merfolk in question was quite small - there were maybe three or four of them, all young males. At least there didn't seem to be much enjoyment in what they were doing; all had sober, serious faces. Although Joshua would recognize none of them on sight, if he had been paying attention in his earlier forays into the merfolk clans, their appearance and Tianara's reaction might be clue enough - all had the blonde hair and grey eyes common to Tianara's family clan.
It made sense, unfortunately. Who outside of the clans native to the four and Tianara would have known that they were the leaders of the movement for peace, rather than just helpers?
The girl herself was sitting by Joshua, quivering with silent rage as she listened to whatever they were saying. Her fingers were laced tightly, the nails of each hand biting into the back of the other. "Just follow them," she whispered against his ear, so quietly that even Joshua would barely hear it. "See where they look once they realize Narcis and Sorry are gone." As indeed the group already seemed to have done, judging by the way the tone of conversation changed.
Tianara stiffened abruptly, her dark blue eyes going wide. Something had occurred to her, brought on by whatever they were saying. She looked at Joshua. Making a split-second decision, she pushed him back against the wall of their little cubbyhole, whispered, "Keep watching," and slipped out of their hiding place, hiding instead somewhere else, against the bottom of the sub.
Merfolk could sense ocean children, particularly their own. If these were of Tianara's clan, she couldn't afford to have them find Joshua should they sense her.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Joshua frowned as he watched the mermen. They looked vaguely familiar, though he couldn't say if it was them in particular he was remembering or just the blonde hair and grey eyes. Either way, he suspected that they were part of Tianara's clan. He stifled the urge to curse. Things could never be easy could they?
He nodded at Tianara's words, not taking his eyes off the mermen as she spoke. He only looked at her when she suddenly pushed him aside and disappeared. He quickly turned his eyes back to watching the mermen. Whatever had sparked the sudden change in hiding spots, he trusted she knew what she was doing. There would be nothing to gain by protesting and everything to gain by listening. So he tracked the merman, watching to see what they would do now that they had realized Narcis and Katalina weren't there anymore. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Abruptly, the group split up. Two of them went off towards a different area - one of the crashed planes, one that was still mostly intact. They disappeared inside, exactly as Tianara had assumed they would.
So that was probably where Nezik and Jinx were hidden.
The other two, however, turned back towards the submarine. They approached it slowly. One of them tilted his head and seemed to sigh. He passed Joshua's hiding place, so close that the boy could have touched him if he'd wanted to.
He bubbled briefly as he moved. "Sahbriien?" Then he strangely switched over to English. "Little sister."
It was now obvious why Tianara had moved so fast when her epiphany had occurred. The merfolk had sensed her, and this one was coming to find her.
And from the way he addressed her even while he went to look for where the girl had hidden herself, he could only be one of her merfolk siblings.

Mac watched the movie through his eyelids. The ending scene, becoming human again, and the marriage. The music was beautiful and captivating. Suddenly the sound ended and Mike made sure things were all put away and turned off. Mac watched with half open eyes.

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Aria shook her head, trying to wake up enough to help Mike. "You don't.....don't have to do that." She told him, her words broken by a yawn. "You're a guest. I can do it." She didn't look like she was awake enough to do it, though she tried to help him put things away.
Joshua made a mental note of the plane, figuring that's where the other two were hidden. With that info though, he was more interested in why the other pair of mermen had stayed at the submarine.
He shank back as far as he could in the hole as the merman passed by. He was confused for a second when he heard the english words then closed his eyes briefly. Of course. That was why she'd moved so fast. If Tianara could find the ocean children, then the merfolk could too. Especially those they knew, as the one clearly knew Tianara.
Joshua stayed perfectly still as they searched for her. If they were both caught, then everything would just go downhill from there. At least one of them had to remain undetected. He felt bad that he couldn't help her right now, but logically, the best way to help was to remain hidden. Unlogically though, he wanted to go and stop them from finding her. Who knew what they would do? It was easy to piece together that she had freed Narcis and Katalina. The tiger that should be....isn't....

Tianara didn't bother to try and hide herself from him any longer. She came out from the dark shadow of the submarine, long black hair swirling around her, to meet him. "Kistad," she breathed, the hurt and the anger evident in her voice. "How could you?"
She shot a fuming look over his shoulder at the other merman, who didn't even have the grace to look apologetic. "I wouldn't even expect this from the others! I thought you were better than this!" Her words were sharp and cutting, and the pain in them served only to heighten the impact.
The blonde merman sighed, closing the distance between them and going to take her wrist. Tianara jerked back, a low hiss coming from her. "Don't touch me."
He didn't bother to speak in English any more, now that she was out in the open. It had only been habit to call for her in English in the first place - he'd done it when she was a child, so that she knew he was looking for her and not their other sister. Tianara knew it, and still it hurt.
But her cold, angry expression didn't fade while he spoke. She kept out of arm's reach, her dark blue eyes intense on his face. And still she shook her head, and when she responded, it was in English. Let Kistad think it was merely a childish defiance. Joshua needed to hear at least her part of the conversation. "They're safe now," she replied coldly. "No. I won't tell you where. Why are you doing this?" she pleaded at last. "Why?"
More bubbling, and she flung her head back, glaring at him. The movement left her just open enough, and the merman took the opportunity to close the distance and catch her.
The girl didn't resist, too busy being infuriated. "Now what, Kistad? Are you going to lock me up for the rest of my life, too? What about Narcis and Sorry? Are you going to track them down again? Kill everyone they've already told? You can't win this!" she cried. "What's wrong with you?"
The merman locked eyes with her, and Tianara abruptly tensed. Beneath the anger now, there was fear. She'd seen something in his eyes that scared her.
Muttering to himself in a tongue that didn't sound exactly like the merfolk language, the merman waved off his companion, who joined the other two at the plane. He turned away then, still keeping Tianara with him, and went off in another direction.
Tianara's voice whispered into Joshua's mind. "It has him, Joshua. The dark..." Her voice seemed to short out briefly, then returned. "...Nezik and Jinx. Get them out. Goodbye."

The tiger that shouldn't be....is.... Joshua had to restrain himself from coming out into the open as Kistad grabbed onto Tianara. He didn't like the way she was being treated, not at all. Seeing her tense, he did too, wonderin what she'd seen.
His question was answered when he heard Tianara's soft voice. It tore at him to see the merman taking her away, knowing he couldn't do anything right now. "I'm sorry. I'll get them then find a way to help you." Sorry didn't even begin to describe how he felt, watching her being taken. When she was out of his line of sight, he turned his attention to the others, waiting until they left. The tiger that should be....isn't....
