When the white raised his head, Ryala was both thrilled and concerned. He still lived! But... he shouldn't really move much right now. His injuries...! Oh! He'd looked over at one of the other girls, with his eyes a swirl of color that Rya was beginning to recognize. He'd Impressed!

But that didn't stop him from being injured.

"Not too much pressure," she csutioned, as she saw Phayton press down with both hands. "We don't want to cause another injury. We just need to keep him from bleeding out."

Scorn blazed out from the Vampire, who observed the goings on with barely veiled disgust. What fools his brothers were making of themselves. This was quite unnecessary.

He pushed out, seeking to quiet the Banshee's terrified whimpers, shifting his focus from his sisters to the oncoming storm. He would not step into the midst of that, but he could prepare. Oh yes, he could be ready for whatever came.

--

The cobalt Bronze shook out his wings, seeming to test them. Readying himself for something. He gaped his jaws in the semblance of a cocky grin. Oh, yes? Was that how it was going to be? He could feel the dark ones moving against one another. Let them take one another on, let them tire out, and then Impress to their bondmates. He was here to see to what had been left behind.

Jagmund

Jagmund was dimly aware that a crowd had gathered around the Angel, hoping to help the little white so it wouldn't die from it's wounds... wounds inflicted on him by his own brother. These dragonets were fighters, both with tooth and claw and their determination to live!

He felt inspired, and despite the pain in his chest and his bleeding arm, Jagmund began to move. He didn't get up, but slowly shuffled away from the hatchlings with his knees and his good elbow. It hurt so bad, but he could've ended up like that other boy... Especially if he stayed where he was.

Where was the third bronze? What about the blues and the greens on the sands too? He raised his head cautiously to look around.

Farensil whimpered at the sight. She'd managed to skitter out of the way of most of the others, but she had caught that wagging tail from the passing, brand new bronze, and wheezed a little further towards sands' edge as she caught her breath. This clutch was in desperate need of a time-out, so far!

With everything going on, it did take the girl a hot minute to spot the downed white on the sands, and she hurried over to join the others as a call for pressure was put out, finding a bleeding wound and folding her hands over one another. The amount of blood didn't ease her concerns for the youth. She knew the rule about touching one that wasn't yours, but... did this count? She couldn't recall ever seeing hatchlings outright try to kill each other!

Was... Was this NORMAL at Western!? The thought was an abysmal one, but she shook it away. No, Vimiath was a gold, and behaved like a mothering gold should! This couldn't be normal!

As she looked down at the once-pristine hide she was trying to help close against the flow of ichor, she was able to see the scar she'd recieved at Uridith's last clutch. The wound had been mostly superficial, but...

Again, she shook loose of her thoughts. "You'll be okay." It was all she could think to say

Kiri
The girl was glad that the boy seemed relatively okay. She hadn't missed seeing some take to the sidelines, or Silviu get so violently sick. This was fast becoming a nightmare, but the couldn't leave. They were here for the babies, weren't they? "I can't tell if this is normal or not," she confessed. "But I do hope they Impress soon."

Very suddenly, things started happening. The bronzes continued to fight, a white was thrown around -- possibly killed -- an Roana ran off to find Iathe. She wished her luck. A blue, then a brown hatched, and another blue started wailing from afar! Things were starting to get crazy, and she wasn't sure where to look! In fact, so focused was she on getting out of the way of blue, that she barely jumped out of the way of the brown that followed -- and the boy she'd been speaking to had been knocked down flat.

"You okay?" She asked. That seemed to be the theme of this Hatching -- ensuring others were all right, emotionall, and physically. "This is chaos."

"Rylyrr and yes, or stand guard," He said distracted barely noticing when more people came and then the dragon began to move. Not so dead after all and the eyes swirled with rainbows.

A D A R

This was madness! Angel just tried to stop brother from killing brother and gets shaken and tossed away, just for trying to help! She had only seen the motion of the lunge from both bronzes as they descended on that poor boy. As terrible as that whole mess was with, what, four or five dragonets diving into the fray it seemed, Adar knew not to throw herself in. Don't interfere was the mantra, but what of the poor white? There was plenty of blood staining the sands, the white robes of many a candidate. This fact being the main reason for keeping her head down, trying not to look at too much lest she become pass out. It wasn't often it made her ill, but it wouldn't be a good thing to lose consciousness when all of this was going on. It took her a few staggering tries to rise from her squat and to get her legs to cooperate. Yeah, that hadn't been a good idea. Her vision spun, but she remained still a moment as she waited for the world to settle. Huffing a breath, she pressed on, flinching a little at the sharpness of Banshee's cry. It'll be okay. She assured herself perhaps, maybe Banshee, Angel? There were other candidates there, helping staunch blood flow. Good. The tiny thing lifted his head and seemed to lock eyes with another girl, eyes whirling rainbow. He Impressed. Good. Tough little bugger was a fighter and was hanging on. Since Impressing, there were healers at hand to help tend to both new weyrlings. Angel would be okay. She called it. Daring to cast a glance over to the rumble, a tight wince drew at her face. They were getting injured too, but that task was beyond her skill level. Plus Demon, though he was indeed pretty injured, was also spattered in very human blood still. The sight was...unnerving. Was she safe where she had moved? Should she go back? The place she had been standing, beyond Werewolf's little visit, had been decently calm and quiet, relatively speaking.

H A R O L

The tension was forming an ache between his shoulders. Trying to roll them out, Harol was feeling glad that this was before dinner and not after. The anxiety that had settled in his gut was tying his stomach in knots. When he saw his sister stride towards the flung off white, he held his face in both hands. Don't let the tangle of fighting babies sweep over her. Don't let her get caught. This clutch seemed to be a bloody one and, of course, it'd be one where his baby sister would be out there.

Backdated and overdue reactions

Every moment in this hatching seemed to be a don't look moment. Jailla had buried her face in Phayton's shoulder, not daring to glance. The screams and cries were enough. This hatching--with all Phayton's descriptions of a wonderful time, a chance at Impressing a dragon, even though he'd been left standing for so long... This wasn't remotely what she'd expected. "I want this to be over with..." she murmurred. How did they make it stop? How did they help?

That horrible creature... "Is he going to die? The white?" She wasn't looking. She didn't dare.

"I'm fine," Vennodren said as he brushed the rest of the sand from his robes. He glanced at the younger Candidate, trying to give her a reassuring smile despite everything that was going on. "This is...abnormal. Fighting and injuries are common in Hatchings, but...this is nothing like I've seen before." And he had been standing for years. Years, and this was by far the worst he'd seen! Perhaps it had to do with the tumultuous Touching, but he couldn't be sure.

A sign of life from the white dragon and he breathed a sigh of relief as it Impressed. Good, one of them was out of the fray. Hopefully the new Weyrling would be able to get it some help and ensure its survival.

"Vennodren, by the way," he added to the girl beside him. "If we're going to Stand through this chaos together we might as well be on a first name basis." He ended with a little laugh, feeling just a bit better despite the insanity happening before them still. Now that he had someone to talk to it was easier to deal with the emotions rolling through him. If only the Demon and Hunter would Impress!

Miach and White Akeroth

Miach worried over the small white form which she desperately tried to keep from bleeding out onto the sands. It was too soon for it to go. Tears formed at her eyes as she felt the smooth hide of the dragon beneath her fingertips. Others were around her trying to help him as well, something about keeping pressure on the wounds. Yes, she knew that. Then she heard something softly spoken. Even as close as she was the words were impossible to make out. Then the white dragonet coughed up ichor and her name was the first thing she heard. Don't worry? She paused as her eyes met Akeroth's while he spoke. Her Akeroth. Unable to stop herself, Miach gently rested her forehead against Akeroth's and gently rubbed his cheek with her free hand. "Okay." She whispered. Her heart ached for her Akeroth but she knew that the concern he had was towards his siblings and their fighting. She couldn't help them, not right now, as Akeroth was in worse shape than he was wanting to account for. "T--thank you all." Miach said to the other candidates around her, not taking her eyes from the white dragon for a moment but lifting her head all the same. "I'm going to t---t----take h-him to the healers." She managed to get out before she picked him up as gently as she possibly could. It was lucky for her that he was so small or she would have had a difficult time doing so.

Akeroth hurt. He knew his injuries were grevious, but there wasn't time for that right now. His siblings were fighting and while he thought the Demon to be a beast--he didn't want him to die. His was there among them and only they could calm the beast. But something had to be done with the Hunter. His rainbow eyes swirled as he looked upon Miach as she pressed her forehead against his. His Miach. He loved her from the moment her hands had met his shell and he would love her until the end of their days. Her heart was worthy of all the Angel held true in his, and together they would protect not only each other's, but others as well. There was much to do. His injuries were a hinderance to him. As Miach lifted him into her arms he sent his thoughts to the others surrounding him and anyone whose attention had been upon him at the time. "My brothers." He said, laying his head upon Miach's shoulder as all the strength began to seep from his body. "Help them." Was all he managed to get out as ichor once more flew from his mouth as he coughed.

Miach carefully carried Akeroth away so that he could be healed, fed and lathered. He would fight another day. Her Akeroth. She smiled through her tears and gently rested her head against his as it draped over her shoulder. She would carry him to the ends of the earth if needed, long after her arms had went numb and fell off. There's nothing she wouldn't do for him, and in return there was nothing he wouldn't do for her.

The Werewolf
The green had forgotten bout its games as thing started to get intense. Giving her green sister a little nuzzle, she trotted back among the crowd. Someone was hurting, and she didn't wish to abide it. So it was, the little green sought out Esfir and gently, tenderly, nuzzle the girl.

All would be right. She sent happy feelings, encouragement, and comfort for the sad little girl. There were better things to do than worry. All would be well soon!

Smerdle

The Ghoul
Nomnomnomnomnom.

In the chaos of the fight, the Ghoul had snuck back among the Candidates. And right now, it was only too happy to start chewing on the edge of Oerlen's robe. A small rip, and suddenly, she had a mouthful of cloth... and it was going right down. There would be no saving that. The air around the Ghoul was happy, content, and it was clear she was not at all concerned about the panic of the Candidates. Hmmm. The robe was okay but she needed something with more flavor.

This was not a good bake.

The Plaid Brown
In his haste, the brown wasn't at all apologetic to anyone he might have run over or hit. There was no time for apologies even if he had desired to give them -- which he did not.

Farellan had been his focus, and he was able to help drag and pull him from the fray. The brown dragon was grateful when Martirae helped him with Farellan, and very soon, there were many surrounding them. The boy would, hopefully, be okay, and the brown felt much better.

He did turn his head to stare at his white brother, and was pleased when he Impressed. That was one less to worry about, as far as the baby was concerned. With wings flared, the brown started circling his fighting brothers, pulling back Candidates who might look to draw too near.

The Mauve Egg
The Banshee's screech caused this egg to shudder, an the top of the egg popped off to reveal a blue dragonet. The creature didn't seem distressed, and spread his wings with a long stretch. The chaos before it, the blood on the Sands, people crying, people hurting... Now this was quite the show!

Giving a happy creel, it hopped out of its egg, and began to trot proudly among the Candidates. It did give The Vampire a baleful look, but kept a wide girth from it. Some here weren't worth his time.

The Zombie Egg
This egg shattered completely at the Banshee's wail, revealing an upside down green rolled up tight. Losing the protection of the shell, the poor thing fall to her side with a loud plop. She wasn't in any rush to get to her feet there, and just lay in a heap in the sand and shell remains.

The Wraith Egg
This egg, too, split apart thanks to the Banshee's sharp wail. Out fell a second green, though this one had the decency to land on her feet. Delicately, the girl turned to stare before her and the chaos at her feet. Hmm. She took a few shaky steps forward, before sitting down and curling her tail loosely about her feet. What was going on out here again?

Kieza

The girl turned her head when she heard more noises around her, and felt a chill run up her spine when she noted a dragonet near her, near the girl Esfir she had stood near and watched a small green tenderly touch the girl, and Kieza wondered if they had Impressed. But even as she thought this she wanted to stand up and move away, fearing the smaller greens to follow suit the actions of the larger dragonets. Would more blood be shed? Instead, she wrapped an arm more protectively around the boy she knelt with on the sands. He was in worse shape than she, and she wouldn't allow him to know the wrath of the crazed dragonets. Please find Yours, darling dragonets. Find Yours and be happy. She thought, sending it out to the dragonets near her, hoping, just hoping that the calm would finally fall over the sands and all those in attendance would be able to tend to the wounded and enjoy the presence of not-so-aggressive hatchlings.

"... Don't intervene," Cesare said, as much as he wanted to send Migel to stop... this. Something had to give. Something had to stop this madness. He stood, both hands now clenched into fists. Silent. Something was distinctly wrong.

--

"Oh? I'm not surprised that this clutch is a dramatic one, after the way that Touching reportedly went." Settling beside Jacomus, Casgar watched the man whom the pirate had introduced as his brother. "So you're the brother who wants Jacomus at High Reaches, hmm?" He offered his hand to the man without thinking.

The fact that the man had thought that that would be a good idea was... well. Sometimes siblings didn't seem to know one another terribly well, or maybe P'tius was just simply not aware of the alternatives. "Welcome to Western." It cost him exactly nothing to be polite, after all.

So many things happening on the sands. The beauty of the White Impressing, seeing all the new and strange hatchlings on the sands....but Faranth help her, she wanted nothing more than to see the Demon and Hunter stop their madness. Vampire was controlling his siblings, and oh, poor Banshee's wail. There was so much going on now, it was hard to keep up. She was brave enough to step a bit ahead of Lennik and co, studying the hatchlings with curious, pale eyes, "Do you think they'll all be alright?" And then...Oh, three new hatclings. This was amazing! A blue, and two greens.

This was not good. Okay, Angel was off the sands and that was good. But the rest? Something was not right. Shahera took Serfie’s hand and began leading her toward Shahera’s other people. They needed to be together, in case. In case of what Shahera didn’t know. If Serfie struggled, Shahera gave no mercy. They were going.

Coming up beside Cesare and Migel, Shahera asked, “We good?” She looked for Marinel because as much as she might not like the depth of the bond between Dolly and him, she was keenly aware of how much it would hurt Dolly if something happened. Where had that boy gotten himself to?
