You mange to pull off a quick save with some fancy wing-work! Instead of getting hit by some stray strands, you're able to roll out of harm's way! While you weren't able to catch it, you're certain one of your wingmates will.
Perhaps due to his rider's influence, Alzarth took extra care to avoid the next clump that got too close. It was a shame he hadn't been able to reduce it to ash, though.
The thread is thick and coming down fast. Unlike the lower wings, you don't have to chase this Thread around -- it's just about everywhere you turn! This is what your dragon was made for, this is what you, as a rider, were meant to do. Burn down those Threads so they are no longer a threat to your wingmates and the people of Pern! Your dragon flames a patch ahead of them, clearing some airspace for your wingmates below. +1 Flame Length
There was plenty more where it had come from, however, and it was not difficult for Alzarth to find another patch, another strand, another clump that needed fire and he had plenty to give! Begone!
The wind picks up, and you fight to keep in formation. Your wings strain, but you're able to keep your place! Though your muscles ache, you're not going to give up so easily. Pern depends on you! +2 Stamina
Both man and dragon should have been feeling tired this far in. Ready for a break, even. But Alzarth still had plenty more fire to give, and even in these winds K'on saw no reason either of them should have held back!

For all the Thread they could burn away, the smallest amount touched flesh and while they blinked away to keep it from being worse, it was small pain. Ignorable pain. No need to worry about it now.

Back in the present, Zallea squinted at some clouds above them. They were fast forming now with the warmth and moisture mixing in the wind (or so she assumed, she didn't have the mind for that stuff), and she didn't trust this particular one. It obscured her vision up ahead.
"Hey, let's move here!" she shouted to a nearby wingmate, getting a bad feeling. Luckily there wasn't an argument or a question about it, and both dragonrider pairs angled away--just in time to compensate for the sudden wind change. Faranth damn it, the wind was almost a bigger threat than Thread today!

In avoiding one danger, however, they managed to veer into a new one. Illyriath was a large and sturdy green, but even her wings strained against the sheer force, and she hissed as she felt a muscle begin to twinge. She refused to get downed when their shift was so close to finishing!

For a moment the air seemed to clear, and Ovshth simply coasted forward. It felt strange to have nothing to do... but he and Ilauria were not going to complain. They had a long battle ahead, and both knew to take advantage of a rest when it was afforded.

A sudden pain wrapped around his hind leg, and the brown bugled in pained surprise, throwing himself between. Returning, his claws still smarted viciously... but the damage had been light, and they'd had worse. They could fight on... or at least, Ilauria told him they would.

They looked up just in time to see the thread falling at them... and then a flare of fire consume it, leaving nothing but ash to rain down harmlessly over them. Thank you Garganth! Seems there's a big helping heart in that big broad chest, huh? The brown cooed playfully towards the bronze, before returning to his position with a sigh of relief.

The wind again... Garganth rumbled with displeasure, using his weight to his advantage instead of letting it push him around this time. He just barely noticed a clump of Thread being shoved towards one of hi smaller teammates, bellowing a warning before he spun. Flame roared from his open maw, reducing the Thread to harmless ash. Phew! I helped! He told M'lus, eyes whirling brightly.

A gust rose up and snagged the small brown, threatening to toss him out of line and into danger. A few vicious pumps of his wings put him to rights, but a lance of pain slung along his wing muscle, making his eyes flare yellow, and Ilauria leaned forward to stroke his neck. Maybe next time it'd be better to just between back to where they needed to be?
