The tiger that shouldn't be....is....

((Just realized we forgot to put a post explaining exactly what the Dark Ones are, in Abigail's Nine. And we'd discussed that extensively. XD ))

Joshua turned his gaze to the ceiling, sighing. "Just for once I'd like a good night's rest." He spoke to the quiet cabin. "Just for once. Maybe then I'd be able to think during the day." But it didn't seem like he would be getting his wish any time soon. "I swear fate is conspiring against me some days." He murmured.

"Might as well do something productive." He said with a shrug, crawling off the bed. He grabbed another glass of water for Tianara. He was still debating whether or not to try soft blended food, but eventually decided against it. "You'll be able to eat when you wake up." He told Tianara, shifting her so he could trickle the water into her mouth.

((OOC: Whoops, lawl. Oh well. That's what the Reserved posts are for! Wanna go back to PMs and iron that out?
Unless, of course, we just have our characters know more about it and be the guides for the others. But I like having a post about it better, since I enjoy clueless, skeptical characters. *nod*))

The girl moved obediently, as she was shifted around. She still wasn't doing anything to try to make it easier for him, which would have been a great leap forward, but she wasn't sinking deeper into herself. It was a good start.

When Joshua held the water glass to her lips, the girl's eyes seemed to focus on him for the first time since she'd disappeared into the depths of her mind. She was definitely starting to become more aware, if nothing else.

Inside her mind, the mess was nearly cleaned away. The silvery soul had almost stopped bleeding. She now stood, rather than lying curled up, and she was examining her barriers, debating.

Was it time yet to take them down? Was she ready?

((Alright. Clueless characters are fun. ^.^ ))

Joshua felt his heart leap as he saw the girl's eyes focusing on him. Or at least it looked like she was. He set the glass down, watching Tianara carefully. He brushed back a stray hair from her face. "Come on Tianara. You can do it. You're a strong girl." He murmured to her, smoothing back the dark hair. He wondered if she would come back soon. The cabin was too quiet.

The quiet he'd once sought was now a bane. He didn't want it anymore. He wanted to hear Tianara's voice, her laughter filling the air. He didn't want this lifeless....doll. He wanted the vibrant girl, curious about everything. "Please Tianara. Please come back." He whispered.

((OOC: Last post for tonight, then I'm off to bed. biggrin ))

Tianara's slowly focusing blue eyes watched him. It didn't seem that she was really seeing him, but she was beginning to, and it was a start.

Katalina's words might reoccur. When you're rested, and she's finished cleaning up...

Obviously, she was finished cleaning.

~

The silvery girl stepped forward and brushed her fingertips against the barriers, so strong that they were almost like walls to her - but they weren't without cracks, and Tianara's uncertainty about coming out was in itself enough to strengthen the blocks from the inside. Anyone coming in from outside wouldn't have as hard a time as she would if she tried to bring them down.

The dark blue gaze that rested on Joshua held a spark now, the willingness to come out if she could be persuaded. Despite the fact that the day was coming down, and another night would begin soon, there was no sense of fear. Just...consideration.

Mac and the rest had finally reached the city. The wind was becoming faster. They were greeted by a shouting Dao, "Michael!" she shouted from her car. She quickly swerved and parked it. She opened the car door, and ran to him quickly. "I was just at work when I heard the weather on the radio. They say a sudden category 1 hurricane is coming this way, and they don't understand how it formed so quickly" she told him.

Mike's eyes widened. "Well then lets talk in the car, we need to get to the hospital, like now" He told her. "Come on guys get in" he said looking at the other two.

Dao didn't even question him. Mac followed into the backseat and Mike got in the driver's seat with Dao in the passenger.

Aria looked up in surprise as the car stopped in front of them. She looked at Dao in confusion, then shrugged. The other two obviously trusted her. So Aria slid into the backseat beside Mac without a word.

Joshua searched the dark eyes for signs of the girl he wanted to see again. There was something in the blue gaze, but she wasn't coming out just yet. She was obviously nearly done cleaning up, if she wasn't already. He recalled Katalina's words about trying again. His headache had disappeared with the rest and quiet of the cabin. He felt strong enough to try again.

He took a deep breath and reached out, seeking Tianara's mind. It wasn't so hard to find it anymore - He was becoming familiar with her 'tone', the feel of her mind. While he had no trouble finding her mind, he was stopped almost right away by the barriers. He pressed along the barriers, searching out any cracks or weakness that would allow him to move farther ahead. He made slow progress, but it was progress, moving through whatever cracks he could find.

Mike drove like a madman, which made Mac uneasy. He never got used to Mike's driving, even when he'd been with him for over 5 years. "God, please don't crash" he reminded Mike.

Mike drifted around yet another corner, the tires screeching, "I'm being careful" he said.

Finally he reached the hospital, parking quickly, he opened his door and got out, "Okay, everyone out" he ordered.

Aria clung to the seat of the car, her eyes wide. She didn't ride in a car very often and this was worse than ever before. As soon as the car stopped, Aria was out, even before Mike ordered them out. "Dear God, how did he get a license?" She asked. "If that was careful, I'd hate to see reckless!" She looked almost like she was going to be sick.

Nira kept watching, "Hmm, I guess they're having fun, trying to take refuge" she commented to herself. She knew that the others with Aria had left. Her interest was spread out, and she saw the mermaid leaving the cove, "I know there's still people in that cove" she said to herself. By now, lightning was in the horizon.

There was a lot more response this time. As soon as Joshua began making serious progress in the barriers, they softened, allowing him easier passage. It wouldn't be long at all before he'd find himself back in the mind itself, past the barriers and safely through.

Inside, the place looked completely different from the last time he had seen it. It was almost clean again, somewhat 'teenager-neat' - a few things scattered about, a bit of dust, memories leaning precariously against each other.

A young woman, shining a soft silver, stood with her back to him, calmly rearranging a few things on a shelf. She tilted her head, but did not turn around. She didn't have to. The long swing of dark hair and even the way of standing would tell anyone who knew her exactly who this girl was - even if they weren't standing inside her mind at the time.

Joshua breathed a sigh of relief as the barriers began softening to allow him passage. He'd been afraid he might cause them to strengthen if he'd been wrong about how ready the girl was. When he finally reached her mind, he was shocked at how different it looked.

He was so distracted by the change that he almost didn't see the silvery girl. When he did though, he immediately brightened. Even turned away from him, he recognized the long hair and the stance. She was up and moving, even if it was just within her own mind. "Tianara...." He called softly, not wanting to startle her.

Mac looked back at Aria as they all exited the car, as Mike walked away, "Well when he's in a hurry, its kinda scary, and he actually drove most of his life without a license, then I made him get one" he told her a short story. He quickly shut the door and walked next to Aria. Dao made her way up to Mike, and they entered.

A woman behind the front desk smiled and greeted the bunch, "Hello, how can I help you?" she asked.

The silvery girl tilted her head slightly at Joshua's voice, then turned to look over her shoulder. Seeing him, she smiled - it was a brighter, more vivid version of the smile she gave in real life. Everything about her, in fact, seemed a little brighter, more real, than usual. Perhaps that was because in one's mind, everything is fined down to its essence.

"Joshua," she said softly. "What are you doing in here?"

She was holding something dark-greyish and squirmy in her hands - she'd been about to replace this particular memory in the part of her subconscious that she never looked in. This was something she didn't need to see again.

Curiously, she looked at him, wondering. What had he come in here for?

Aria recovered quickly from the sense of about to be sick, though she knew if she'd stayed in the car any longer, there was good chance she would have been. Smiling at the nurse behind the desk, she quickly explained that they were here to see her grandfather. She asked for and received directions. She led the way through the halls, eager to see her grandfather. Tapping on the door, she heard his voice call out for them to enter. She grinned happily, seeing him sitting up in bed. Giving him a hug, she then quickly secured of the chairs around the bed for herself. "Mac came to ask you some questions." She told him, not beating around the bush as she gestured to the boy. Allen turned to look at Mac questioningly. "What can I do for you m'boy?"

Seeing her smile, Joshua couldn't help but smile back. He'd been so worried he would never see that bright smile again. Ignoring....whatever it was....that she held, he spoke. "I was seeing how far you've gotten in your cleaning. I've been worried. Well, we've all been worried, I mean." He hastily corrected himself. He looked around the room briefly, though he didn't look too closely at anything - This was her mind after all. "It's much cleaner than the last time I tried to check in on you."

Tianara chuckled, turning back to the shelf with her squirmy dark-grey item still in hand. "Oh, that was you," said the girl, almost to herself, while she casually set the object back on the shelf - where it squirmed its way between the other memories and disappeared. That was all right; she'd find it again. It was the sort of memory that couldn't resist leaping out at you at unexpected moments.

Looking back at him, she grinned a little. "It should be, after all the effort I've been putting in." She put her hand on her hip, giving the room a last going-over with her eyes. "I think it's almost cleaned up now. I'll be able to find things much more easily."

Glancing directly at Joshua, she added, "I tossed some of the memories from last night. There's things I won't remember when I wake up. But I think it's for the better, don't you?" She shrugged. "Some of them I wouldn't want to." Turning to pick up a few brighter, shining grey objects from the shelf, she positioned them for easier access. "It's probably a good thing this happened. Every mind needs a spring cleaning once in awhile, I think."

With a laugh, she turned to him once more. "Anything else you came in to check on? The bleeding's stopped, mostly - don't worry about that." She held her arms out to him as though to prove it. There were scars - not only on her arms, but on what could be seen of the rest of her body. But as she had said, they weren't bleeding.
