Dark blonde hair, green-gold eyes, tanned skin. At 5'4", she is slender and fine-boned with sharp facial features.

Personality:
Nashwa was born to be useful. Some might take issue with being relegated to the life of a servant, spending their days doing the bidding of someone wealthier or more powerful, but Nashwa doesn't see it that way at all. She doesn't like or need to be told what to do, per se, but she likes to be helpful, and she takes pride in her abilities. She truly enjoys taking care of people and seeing to it that their needs are met, and is able to do so without crossing over into hovering or being maternal. She's excellent at being there when she's needed, and staying fairly close at hand just in case she is, but every bit as importantly, she knows when she's not needed. Nashwa is the ideal servant: both attentive and unobtrusive.

Also critical traits in a servant, she is honest and loyal. While it's inevitable that, as a servant, she'll see or hear things she wasn't necessarily meant to - and, to be perfectly truthful, she enjoys it! - she'd never sell secrets or blackmail her employer, unless they were truly dreadful people...but she wouldn't be caught dead working for anyone like that. She'll see to it that she's placed in an upstanding household, thank you! Though she wouldn't seek to profit from information learned or events witnessed, that's not to say she would keep them completely to herself and never act on them, depending on the nature of them. Everyone knows servants gossip amongst themselves! Truly sensitive information wouldn't be shared, but the usual minor-but-juicy tidbits? Those are harmless, surely. She may also elect to be quietly, discreetly helpful, regardless of whether or not it's been asked of her. If she sees a need, she wants to meet it, and is as happy to remain anonymous as she is to be recognized. It doesn't matter if that need is a bedtime snack or an arranged 'accidental' meeting with a heart's desire, she'll do her best to make it happen.

For her, life is a series of tasks, sometimes one to the next or sometimes several at once, but there is always something to be done. These somethings, however, are never rushed through, each one given all the attention it's due. Nashwa may be busy, but she very rarely needs to be in a hurry, as her tasks are diligently planned ahead and organized. And if something goes wrong, well, that happens, she'll fix it. Panic only makes things worse. She keeps a cool head, and even if she is starting to sweat, she'll never show it.

So much of Nashwa's life revolves around other people and what they need and want that she's a bit lost when she doesn't have someone or something to focus on. 'Rest day' is a foreign concept, and she's more likely to spend time off preparing for the next day than she is to rest or do conventionally 'fun' things. At best, she'll use free time to cook and bake, to play with or invent recipes. Her vices are few and far between; you'll never catch her gambling, drinking to excess, or being anything other than responsible. She does suffer from vanity, but not in the physical sense: she knows she's good at what she does, and thrives in that knowing. She may not receive acknowledgement for the less obvious things she does, but for the tangible things like cooking and baking, she craves compliments, which may be part of the reason she cooks and bakes even in her off time. While she'd never presume to ask for them, the compliments and gratitude of others drive her.

With so much of her identity wrapped up in being 'useful,' Nashwa is someone who doesn't necessarily know how to live for herself: she needs something to do for someone else, whatever the scale of the task. This doesn't mean that she needs to always be told what to do, however; left to her own devices, she will still find something, somewhere, that needs doing, and do it. Even mundane taks are welcome. She can delegate and advise, if necessary, but will still be involved, and may micromanage. She does her best not to say unkind things or give too-harsh critiques, but that tendency to nitpick may well ruffle feathers.

History:
As the daughter of the Steward and Headwoman (Anashailo and Veswalye) of a Minor Hold along the Igen River, Nashwa comes by her tendencies and talents honestly. Raised to be well-mannered and dutiful, she took to every lesson well, and took just as well to being the oldest once her siblings began to arrive. With seven turns between her and the next, by the time her sister was old enough to be minded by someone other than her parents, Nashwa was just old enough to do the minding. While there were certainly some elements she didn't enjoy, she knew better than to complain, and did a fair job of everything that needed doing. More siblings arrived, a turn apart here, two turns apart there, and by the time she hit her teenage years, she was responsible for a troupe of five, and took those responsibilities very seriously. She did her best to always have them in good and proper order, minding lessons and helping with whatever tasks they were capable of, and ideally out of anyone's way (the last with admittedly mixed success).

Though she loved her siblings (most days, most of the time), now that she was finally old enough to formally apprentice at a real Hall, Nashwa hoped to do just that...but unfortunately for her, she was just a bit too good at managing her siblings, and she had to wait three more turns for her sister Ashailye to be deemed old enough and capable enough of inheriting more management of the brood that just kept growing. With perhaps just a touch of guilt, she went off to Courtesan Hall. Several turns later, just after achieving her Journeyman status, she was Searched to Western Weyr.

Origin of Name: Ilaorun means "Sunrise" in the Yoruba language. Given this particular drink is known for its colors, reminiscent of a sunrise, it made sense to have this queen named after the act itself.

Inspiration: Tequila Sunrise

The Tequila Sunrise is a cocktail made of tequila, orange juice, and grenadine syrup, and served unmixed in a tall glass. The modern drink originates from Sausalito, California in the early 1970s after an earlier one created in the 1930s in Phoenix, Arizona. The cocktail is named for its appearance when served—with gradations of color resembling a sunrise.

The original tequila sunrise contained tequila, creme de cassis, lime juice, and soda water, and was served at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel where it was created by Gene Sulit in the 1930s or 1940s.

The more popular modern version of the cocktail contains tequila, orange juice, and grenadine, and was created by Bobby Lozoff and Billy Rice in the early 1970s while working as young bartenders at the Trident in Sausalito, California north of San Francisco. In 1972, at a private party at the Trident organized by Bill Graham to kick off the Rolling Stones' 1972 tour in America, Mick Jagger had one of the cocktails, liked it, and he and his entourage started drinking them. They later ordered them all across America, even dubbing the tour itself their "cocaine and tequila sunrise tour".

At the time, the Trident was the largest outlet for tequila in the United States, and in 1973 Jose Cuervo picked up on the new drink as a marketing opportunity and put the recipe for the new drink on the back of their bottles of tequila, and promoted it in other ways. Later that same year the Eagles recorded a song called "Tequila Sunrise" for their Desperado album as the drink was soaring in popularity.

Personality: Ilaorunth is a party girl, through and through. From the moment this queen rolled out of her shell, she knew exactly what she wanted out of life--and wasn't going to let anything get in the way of her good time. To say she's fun loving is a bit of an understatement-- if this gold isn't enjoying herself, than she'll do one of two things: turn it into a party, or simply waltz off to find something more fun. She's disinterested in anything that might be boring, repetitive, dry, or otherwise unpleasant. She isn't here for serious business--she's here to enjoy herself. A life without fun isn't a life worth living, at least as far as Ilaorunth is concerned.

Carefree, this dragon isn't the sort to worry about much. She has little by way of ambition, and isn't fussed over the chain of command. Let those who wish to rule do so and fight it out among themselves--Ilaorunth will enjoy herself on the beach, or up in the fireheights with her entourage. She's not the sort of queen to worry about mistakes. If she or her rider make a mistake, or things don't go according to plan, it's not something she's going to get upset about. If someone dresses her down, or has an otherwise negative opinion of her, it won't upset Ilaorunth in the least! Like water rolling off a sea-wherries back, negativity, stress, or irritation doesn't stick long with this queen. Life's too short to get hung up on all that negativity.

Sociable by nature, there are very few that Ilaorunth doesn't like--but one thing she likes, above all else, are boys. Even from an early age, this queen loves-loves-loves to be in the middle of a gaggle of boys. Flirting comes as naturally as breathing, and will only get worse as she grows. What starts out as cute compliments and keen friendships as a hatchling will turn into outright flirtation as she grows. It's much more fun when there are boys involved, after all, especially when they're paying attention to her.

Unfortunately, her fun-loving and carefree nature can cause her some trouble. As far as golds go, Ilaorunth is rather irresponsible. Hard work isn't something she'll eagerly do, which will make her life as a weyrling, or threadfighter, a bit troublesome. Oh, she knows it's her duty to fight The Enemy, but honestly, she'd much rather do anything else. If only she could have lived during the times in Pern's history where Queen's weren't expected to do anything more than clutch! If allowed, she'll happily avoid doing work, or delegate it to another, while she finds something more fun to do instead. Surely, with a little swish of her tail, or a promise for a cuddle later, one of her big, strong, bronze brothers would do the task for her? This doesn't make for great behavior, especially when the Weyr depends on their Queens following orders, or doing hard work to ensure those in the fighting wings remain safe. Sometimes life just isn't fun or easy, and that will be a hard pill for this queen to swallow.

Additionally, she's known to be superficial and more than a little self-centered. While she's a sociable queen, who does enjoy having a good time with just about any and all color dragons, she also has the expectation that the good time should be about her. She wants to be the leader of her circle; she wants to be the one in the limelight. If there was a Dancing Queen, you can bet it would be Ilaorunth, and she can be prone to stealing another's show if she thinks eyes aren't on her. This can lead to trouble with some of her clutchmates, or wingmates, because she really does want to be in the limelight at all times. While she's not prone to fits of temper, she doesn't do well when the world doesn't revolve around her.

Physical Attributes: An averge sized queen, Ilaorunth is quite trim and muscular. Her hind legs are rather long for her body, and her tail on the shorter side--but overall she cuts quite a lovely figure.

Additional Notes: Ilaorunth will always be an early-riser, no matter how much sleep she does, or doesn't, get. If her rider wasn't a morning person, she will be now that Ilaorunth is in her life.

When it comes to Flights, Ilaorunth will likely always have a gaggle of favorites. Honestly, any male that shows even he slightest interest in her, will likely be latched upon. She loves boys, and loves knowing that they love her. She's not liable to settle down with anyone, at least not during her younger Turns, much preferring to flit from boy-to-boy-to-boy. Like any self-respecting queen, though, she will have a strong preference for bronzes.

Additionally, don't put it past Ilaorunth to be a homewrecker. If a green (or any other color dragon) has a brown or bronze she wants (or even a cute blue she'd like to spend a little time cozying up to), you can bet she'll not hesitate to find a way to get them tucked under her wing. She doesn't treat her green sisters poorly, but she isn't the type to share what should rightfully be hers. And rest assured--she is queen enough to know it IS her right.

Impression Effect: Nashwa will find herself with oodles more confidence. While she might have been born to serve, she will walk with the air less of a servant, and more that of a leader. Instead of being on the sidelines, she will be more willing to take charge. She'll leave men (and women) a bit breathless because she just gained a whole few levels to her appearance!

Why Me? Nashwa (Meepfur)

Nashwa and Ilaorunth were meant for one another. To start, Nashwa is all work and no play and Ilaorunth is absolutely here to challenge that. Life is meant to be lived, and this party-gold has every intention of making sure Nashwa puts away this live-to-work attitude and shine. Alternatively, Nashwa has spent her life living to serve others--and that's not something self-centered Ilaorunth often does. She might be a friendly gold, but she's here to be the star. Nashwa should be able to keep her queen's worst behavior in check, and with time, might even rub off on the gold, and teach her to think more of others. Ah, but Ilaorunth will always think of Hers, and will make sure that her rider lacks of nothing. Nashwa might crave compliments, but you can bet now with a queen at her side, Ilaorunth will ensure she gets them--and more. This gold will make sure Nashwa spends less time on others, and have more time to focus on herself. Additionally, where Nashwa enjoys a bit of gossip, she'll find a partner-in-crime when it comes to digging up some dirt. Unlike her rider, though, this gold won't necessarily keep any secret safe so Nashwa had best be cautious on what she digs up and shares, going forward. Thankfully, you can bet Nashwa is the perfect woman to keep this handful of a gold in-line. Where Ilaorunth will want to cut corners, or not bother with certain responsibilities, Nashwa will hopefully help counterbalance that irresponsibility, especially as they grow and more and more people depend on them. While they might be as different as night and day, these two make a perfect team, balancing out one another in challenging ways that will allow both rider and dragon to grow.
