The blue dragon continued to fly, on point. Though he still could feel the pain in his wing, Cinonth wasn't going to let that get him down! It was easily ignored, especially in the face of the Great Enemy. Eyes a mix of red-yellow-orange, the dragon blast another clump from the sky.

What a piece of cake! The blue crowed, quite pleased. Though the winds were strong, he felt confident, and sure. H'sad could only thump his boys neck, trying not to be too thrilled. Thread was deadly, horrible, and awful.... but there was nothing like the thrill of taking it down successfully.

In an effort to redeem herself, Ephia and Ariath had hawk eyes for the next clump that made it to their level. When it came they swooped in on it with great enthusiasm and intent.

Flamethrower at the ready, Ephia charred the piece of thread with great delight only to have the wind shift and the still burning ash rained down on her and Ariath.

Hissing against the minor burning pain, Ephia brushed at the remaining ashon her as she directed attention to her queen. Are you alright, love?

Yes. I'll be fine. Just a few minor marks.

Reassured that they were both alright, the pair rejoined their wing formation.

Round 1:

1. 8 - You want to do more. You want to be more. You're frustrated by the lack of action down in the lower wings, though you do now it's a very important role. You fidget in your riding straps. If this is the 3rd time you roll this in the game you now suffer 3 turns of Antsy You are too eager to get out there and fight. Any successful flaming down of Thread yields double XP but also causes can extra Moderate Damage -3 HP. In your hurry to flame Thread you make rookie errors, such as flying into the ash cloud, flying into your fellow wingmates space and getting burned, over-reaching and pulling a muscle, not sitting right in your straps and getting whipped around, etc.

[Once Antsy is taken, the counter for this effect is reset and you must roll this 3 more times, etc.]
2. 2 - You see a stray strand writhe out of the corner of your eye. Your rider quickly twists in her seat, and catches the errant strand with a well-timed aim of their flamethrower! +1 Target Accuracy
3. Your dragon is starting to feel tired. This particular fight is wearing them down. A strong gust of winds tries to throw them out of their position. Roll a D4 to see what happens! [1 = Success! Your dragon successfully recovers, and keeps in formation. [+1 Stamina] 2 = Neutral! Your dragon begins to be blown out of position, but fights it by giving a few powerful flaps of their wings. There. No one noticed anything out of place. 3 = Failure! Your dragon is blown out of formation. They struggle and flap against the wind, and only are able to recover when the wind dies down, feeling more exhausted than before. Worse, you think they may have pulled a muscles in their wing arm! Best watch it. [Light Damage -1 HP ] 4 = Failure! Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, though it's unclear if your Wingleader has noticed or not. Either way, your dragon is just spent. Worse, they are blown right into a small sliver of Thread! Moderate Damage -4 HP Fatigue Effect For the next 3 rolled turns your dragon will suffer from Fatigue Effect. Any XP earned during those turns is negated. On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect or Painful Status) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care.]
4. 17 - A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through. If this is your fourth time rolling this status, you start feeling Guilt [Take 3 Turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -4 HP. Any successful bonuses by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.]
5. 15 - As you catch a small patch of Thread, the wind blows the ash right back into you and your dragon, leaving them a bit burned! Whoops! Moderate Damage: -3 HP

Nimueh was always connected to Mharlith, of course, always a whisper of a touch away and they would be mind to mind. But flying together, feeling the power and heat of his flame and the power wing muscles flexing, Nimueh felt more at one with her dragon than ever.
Even though the air was occasionally rent by cries of pain, it only touched the corners of her joy in doing what she knew they had both been born for.

However with each successful flame of the menace their confidence grew and over confidence was just as dangerous as hesitation in a thread battle. As Mharlith's flame swallowed another silvery gathering of strands the wind shifted.
The ash for the beaten foe hit back. Nimueh cried out and threw up her arms to protect her face. She was too slow and the hot remnants scorched the side of her face, cheek and part of her jaw line blackened by it. Luckily she had closed her eyes instinctively and they were protected but her warm, open face would likely be marred forever.

Mharlith was quick to duck between, cooling the wound and allowing Nimueh to brush off the lingering ash. But it stung.
Nimueh, Nimueh, are you okay?

"I'm okay Mharlith, keep going."
She soothed the worried brown, offering him more Firestone.

They shifted in between back to the weyr for Rynsaith to fill up on firestone again while Sa’do took a few minutes to stretch his legs and check over any of the straps and anything else that might of taken some sort of wear and tear while they had been flying.

Something caught the large bronze attention before letting out a sharp growl of displeasure spitting out whatever was in his mouth.

”What’s wrong?” Sa’do looked over brows knotted with concern.

< I bit my tongue… > He gave a rather displeased expression as if he was over the entire thing now.

”We still have to go back out.”

Unfortunately, as they wove through the clumps and sheets of Thread, blasting what they could, their good fortune didn't last. Taking a fast turn, the blue found himself flying directly into a clump. Though his speed allowed him to roll mostly out of the way, his back foot and tail caught the edge. Both rider and dragon hissed from the pain, but a quick hop Between took care of that. Soon as they reappeared, they immediately went back to the fray!

”I know it hurts but we have to get over it and deal with the problem at hand.” The last thing Sa’do wanted to do was to end up in more trouble then just a bitten tongue.

< I would rather remain back at the weyr at this point.> The bronze snorted before breathing out a burst of flame towards a bunch of silvery threads.

You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!? Roll a D4

1. This tangles up on your dragon's tail and foot. You immediately blink Between, with the injury hurting your dragon, but not enough to slow you down. Light Damage - 2 HP

2. This hits your dragon's face and eye! Your beast screeches in pain, and hops immediately back to the Weyr. Moderate Damage -5 HP It's up to you on how much face damage it does. If their eye is okay, they can return to their Wing. If there's eye damage, or possible worse damage than listed, have them land to get checked by a healer.

3. The Threadfall hits your leg and your dragon's shoulder! It burns in deep, but your cries of pain can't be heard in the cold of Between. Moderate Damage: -6 HP

4. Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has eaten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUNKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get dunked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option.

The action was becoming almost automatic, reach into the bag, pull out firestone, Mharlith turns his head, toss it in, keep flaming. However as her hand plunged into the bag her fist came up with nothing but a few chips and fragments. Pebbles at best.
Nimueh cursed herself quietly, how could she let herself be so careless?

She didn't want to return to the weyr least her wing need them so she ordered Mharlith to drop down lower. Closer to the queens wing.

Mharlith, see if there re any weyrlings here that still have firestone, if they are close enough it will be faster than returning to the weyr.

The brown obediently reached for any suitable weyrling in the local vicinity.

The bronze was still sulking as they made their way through the sky, the wind was still giving random gust tugging many of the dragons off course from their intentions. Something tugged at the corner of Sa’do’s mind and within seconds he could see the silvery mass from the corner of his eye, close, too close for comfort.

”Rynsaith!” Before the words could fully leave his mouth they had already moved in between to another part of the sky free from danger.

Someone needs firestone, myIchta! Aurinkoth advised and Ichta nodded, sorting through the bags she had secured to their straps before urging the blue upwards.

He was, perhaps, a little too eager, twisting in the air and - What was that!? At first, Ichta thought she'd been struck by something, only to feel the rumble of discomfort from her beloved. He'd pulled something, for sure. The blue reeled awkwardly, sending the bag she'd unhooked from their straps falling...down....down.....oh... oh. She'd...remember where this was to go find it later.

Fortunately, she had a second one, at least. Watch for myIchta, Mharlith! Aurinkoth called as the woman carefully tossed the second bag up towards the brownrider pair. She waited until she was certain they had it....then blinked between.

She'd just...pick up some more Firestone real quick....

Though his foot stung, and his tail oozed a bit of ichor, the swift blue remained optimistic. He wasn't as bad off as some, and he was more than happy to keep himself in top form. The wind was strong, but the blue--- Ouch!

With another powerful gust, the blue had to fight hard to keep in formation. The twinge in his wing flared, causing the blue to give a small creel of pain. Well that didn't feel very good...

"Easy, Cinonth. Don't strain that wing any more." H'sad cautioned. That was all they needed....

Soon enough they spotted a small blue pair rising up to meet them. But the adults could barely stand the high winds, let alone weyrlings. Trying to show off with fancy flight work in these conditions was just foolish and Nimueh could almost feel the poor blues muscles twist and tear.

She shook her head and twisted in her straps, loosing one side so she could hang off the side of Mharlith's neck and catch the offered bag. She tried to shout her thanks but her words were stolen by the rush of wind before the sounds could find form.
Instead Mharlith spoke to the blue

And you fly steady back to your wing, no more stunts in this wind. You'll get yourself hurt, or fly into a clump of thread.
He warned with a swell of warmth and concern for the pair.
