"Dad's going through a midlife crisis is all; just cut him some slack." Kai muttered after catching up with Larai and walking alongside her.

((Van: Midlife crisis? I'm not having a midlife crisis! Now where's that tub of ice cream?...))

 

[M3Gnificent]

"I dislike being pressured. You saw how well I have reacted in the past to being pressured!" Larai said, still quite irritable. "I don't want to settle down. Not now, not ever. I'm not like mom and dad. I know I'll end up unhappy if I did submit myself to something like that!"

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Well, I hope you at least find the master thief, or whatever guy you're looking for. I am in no way siding with dad for you to settle down, but at the rate you're going you'll probably wind up bitter and alone if you don't at least find a decent traveling companion."

 

[M3Gnificent]

"I have good reason for being bitter. As for being alone, that isn't a bad thing. I tend to be well behaved when alone." Larai replied easilly.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"I didn't think it was possible to have a 'good' reason for being bitter." Kai said raising an eyebrow at her.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"You can't do anyone a good favor without being poisoned, maimed, wounded, or betrayed otherwise. If you don't trust anyone you don't absolutely know, it makes everything much much easier." Larai stated simply. She still carried that mental scar from her childhood, it seemed. "Unless they pay you a hansome sum first, of course."

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Larai, he was a demon. We were kids. Don't you think it's time to get over that?" Kai said.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"That...wasn't the last time it's happened to me. But I would rather not talk about it any further." Larai said, now speeding up her pace a little more.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Well it's sure as hell not going to get any better by not talking about it." Kai said, speeding up as well.

 

[M3Gnificent]

"It isn't going to get any better talking about it only to be yelled at by how I chose to live my life either."

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Larai, no one's yelling at you. Mom and dad just want us to be happy." Kai said with a shrug. "You cannot honestly say that you've had a good life of trusting no one but your relatives, who you almost never see."

 

[M3Gnificent]

"Honestly, I can." Larai replied easilly, remaining as stubborn as always - a family trait, no doubt.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

"Alright, then let's try this. Say you do meet Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Handsome. What happens if he doesn't like you because you're too damn bitter?"

 

[M3Gnificent]

"I'd call him a damned hippocrit and move on." Larai replied with a small shrug.

 

[Zelly-fangirl]

Kai gave a frustrated sigh. "Alright, what happened? You weren't this bad even after that damn demon."
