He hadn't said much in response to his lovers voiceless magical cast. It was a powerful ability but it wasn't something that he had even thought of her being unable to do. She was a dragon for all purposes so while he knew she was doing it to somewhat show off infront of him, the magical prince saw little reason for it. Maybe she was feeling a tad inadequate with his treatment of her but it was something he would probably not change. "No. That is the opposite completely of keeping a low profile. It was a joke Aurum." Shaking his head he gave Aurum a small tug towards the Pub.

As they arrived a man was being drug out by two member of the towns guard. Likely the man was being drug out for drunken disorderly. As they approached part of the prince was happy he had taken the time to apply his own glimmer. The two of them masked by glimmers each drew not even a second glance from the two guards as they passed. "Already lively" kaelthas muttered to himself pushing the door open as he walked inside. "I will see if I can find someone to take us tonight or at the earliest first thing in the morning. I know your impatient so I will do my best to swing it for tonight alright." Giving a somewhat exasperated smile he released her hand as he walked towards the bar and began to ask around between several of the patrons.

He wasn't impressed by her magic? Wasn't in awe of the sheer power she held at her fingertips, didn't care for the fact that she was - without even knowing this herself - one of the more powerful casters in the entire realm. Aurum was not attempting to show off, she was trying to show that she could, in fact, do much more than what Kael thought she could. She wanted to show that she was just as capable as anyone else to take care of herself.. even if she was carrying a little extra weight. The dragoness did feel like she was being treated almost childishly, and she was frustrated that he was starting to act like everyone else did - like she was a riled up nuisance that needed to be watched and guided. Aurum frowned when he spoke and shook his head, and resisted just some when he tugged her towards the pub. With pursed lips, she gave a hot huff through her nose, "Low profile isn't fun or quick," Grumbled the princess, but allowed him to take her to the pub.

Watching the man as he was expelled by the guards, Aurum rolled her eyes. Humans could never hold their own the way a beast could, and the dragoness would bet her hoard on being able to drink every one of the men in the dingy pub under their tables. She did, however, find herself glad to be in the glimmer that Kael provided for her - she gained only looks of approval from men and women alike, rather than the fear or anger that she would have received in her own humanoid form. The lack of horns did wonders, but her height and hair suggested more for her human appearance - perhaps white hair was not as common with young humans as it was with the beasts. When Kael let go of her hand, Aurum watched him as he walked away to find them a carriage. She ignored his tone - but her face did show a little of her annoyance that he was being less patient with her. The dragoness looked around and moved around to patrons as well, almost disappearing in the lively pub. Aurum went from table to table, talking to some here and there about needing safe passage, but eventually she was being offered drinks only to have to deny them.. though the offers were tempting. At some point, she ended up sitting with a group of some rather.. unkind looking folks, but they were laughing boastfully and listening to the fiery girl tell a long and comical story of a werebeast that tussled with the wrong dragon - though she neglected to inform them that she was the dragon.

Aurum also had a glass of wine in front of her, though it was full and appeared untouched. She was far too enveloped in her story to bother with the drink given by a stranger. Even she was laughing, telling the story with her arms and body as she spoke.

Speaking with what felt like every person within the bar Kaelthas groaned. The best he had been able to find was a older gentlemen that would be able to take them at the crack of dawn. That would leave them to have to find shelter within the pubs rooms for the night. With Aurum impatient as was that was the last thing he had wanted to have to tell his mate. Rubbing the side of his head the young prince leaned against the bar before slamming his fist upon it. His action drew a few gazes from people around him. Nothing for him seemed to have been going his way since he had met up with Aurum this time. "Bar keep give me a drink" he called slamming a gold coin on the counter top. "Keep them coming until I say to stop" he mentioned rubbing his forehead.

After what seemed like far longer then it should have been, Kalethas pushed himself away from the bar. He had finished off atleast six mugs of ale and was feeling the buzz hitting him rather hard. "I will be taking one of your rooms for the nigh as well" he said to the barkeep shaking his head some. Rolling another gold coin got a nod from the man as he turned to look for his mate. After a moment of looking he found her making a conversation with a few other patrons. Even if he wasn't able to hear it her bravado carried to him. She was all but glowing from the story she was telling and it seemed to be drawing several laughs and chuckles. The other patrons seemed to enjoy her stories but from where he was at he couldn't hear them. Sooner or later he would need to tell her that they would have to be staying for the night.

Letting Aurum finish her story, Kalethas wandered over. Setting down in the table next to her, he looked over to his mate. "I have some bad news" he said to her as he gave a small sigh. "We won't be able to leave till the morning. I already got us bedding for the night tho so that's one less thing to worry about." Leaning over the table he sat at, Kalethas tapped his fingers a few times. "Should you want to atleast" he added as he looked ahead. A few people sat in the corner that were speaking of something that had caught his eye for the moment.

Perhaps her company was more thuggish than she was aware of, but the men and women were all kind enough to the young girl. They laughed with each jest, they appeared enraptured when the story became quiet and suspenseful, even made each other get quiet when she would start to whisper small parts of each tale.. because one turned to another, and another, and eventually the dragoness did take a sip of her drink - though she ordered this one herself, and made sure to pick something light to avoid harm. Aurum didn't seem to notice Kael's absence, she actually kind of missed being able to socialize with commoners in her down time.. especially humans that were ridiculously intrigued by a traveler's stories. The dragon seemed happier with the distraction than she had their travels, even as she began making small bets of skill with the patrons.

One suggested she couldn't throw three bullseyes in a row, while another bet that the woman could not finish a drink faster than him - which Aurum regretfully did, earning an uncomfortable fizz in her stomach from the unfamiliar liquid - and another challenged her to some sort of minor magical tricks.. the list went on with each customer attempting to best the dragon. There were a couple that she lost - if only for profiles' sake - involving more drinking and magic, but she did show the towering thugs and obvious drunks a thing or two as she went about the bets. Mostly coins, but the dragoness was happy to relieve one woman of a bracelet that boasted a few teeth that she would hope to identify. She hadn't noticed Kael in the small crowd of people that eventually came around her, but when he was next to her she smiled and gave her bag a little shake - though it still sounded no heavier than it had in her cave.

Hearing his news, she gave a little shrug. Now that Aurum had fun, the night wasn't so bad. She sat with Kael and many of the challengers followed. Ushering some of her newfound "friends" away, the dragon took Kael's hand and put her coin purse back into her pack. "Morning is fine, so long as we keep a good pace from here on out," The dragon gave his hand a squeeze and a small tug, "But I am ready for some rest after all this winning," The woman laughed, throwing the companions that stayed around the table a cheesy grin. Though most were brutish and appeared perhaps belligerent, they laughed and bid the two farewell. Aurum stood and gave them a wave, but looked to Kael a little expectantly, awaiting him to guide the way to their room. In the crowded bar, she couldn't smell the alcohol on him, but alone would be a different story.

When Aurum gripped and gave his hand a tug, the prince broke his gaze towards the other side of the room. Sitting still he looked up at her as she gave him another small tug. As she dismissed several of her new "friends" Kaelthas stood. His figure next to Aurum's overshadowed the dragons human form, even with the glimmer. The room around him turned somewhat as he stood there taking a moment to get his balance. How many had he had to drink he wondered now. He had believed to have only had about six drinks but how he was feeling now made him question it.

After finally getting his balance, Kaelthas shook his head somewhat. "Alright then" he said giving her hand a small tug as he started towards their room. The pub tho small had a larger upstairs area with three rooms all together. Their own, nestled in the back of the upstairs area. They had the only room that was not connected to the others by walls. "Here we go" he muttered opening the lock as he opened the door to the room. As he did he released Aurum's hand and stepped in allowing for her to enter of her own accord before closing the door.

At Kael's imbalance, the young dragon frowned gently and waited for him to right himself. He seemed dizzy, like the world was far different for him at the moment than it was for the rest of the tavern. Pah, what a lightweight! Aurum would have to teach him how to handle his liquor once she was well enough to drink heavily once more. The woman watched as he shook his head and followed when he gave her a tug towards their room, but she might have had a sort of pout on her lips as she did so. She was happy to get rest, not as happy that her prince went off and got drunk. When he opened the door to their room, Aurum followed and closed the door behind her, locking it and then casting a magical lock over the physical one - though she did mutter an incantation to do this, whether to be humble or out of habit, she wasn't sure. She set her pack next to her side of the bed and gave a stretch, her arms above her head and connected at the hands, her toes pointed inwards as she stood on them. She dispelled the glimmer around her and removed her outer layers of clothing for comfort.

As she climbed into bed, Aurum didn't seem as pouty or frustrated - it seemed she had calmed down. Her prince might have already known it, but the little dragon was easily persuaded from one emotion to the next as of late
and even minor issues sent her into anger or sadness. For now, though, she rubbed her ever-growing stomach and patted the space next to her on the bed.

As she pushed passed him, Kaelthas stepped to the side and leaned against the wall. The alcohol in his system was affecting him alot more then the last time they had drank together. Then that wasn't to hard to believe. It had been months since he had last touched alcohol. His tolerance had dropped. Lifting a hand up he muttered something as his glimmer fell. Looking towards his quarry Kaelthas gave a small grin. She seemed in a better mood, which brought his own up.

After staring for a moment longer, Kaelthas made his way over to the bed. Falling onto it he crawled his way next to her. "So then, has a bit of companionship and hustling a bit of coin put you in a better mood?" Whether it was the alcohol talking or himself he wasn't sure. Reaching a hand he laid it atop Aurum's belly as he caressed it. Around him the world was tilting somewhat and his doing this was keeping him somewhat anchored.

There was a little worry in Aurum's eyes as she watched her soon-to-be use the wall for balance as the alcohol in his belly churned the world around him. No longer mocking in her mind, there was concern that etched its way onto her face for a moment. Perhaps he had not drank in a long time, but she could only think the worst and her mind jumped to being drugged in some way. He couldn't have had that many drinks, right? The dragon wasn't sure what to think, but then he dispelled his magic and looked up to her and she smiled back to him. Aurum blushed just slightly under his look and got under the covers a little as he made his way over. When he fell, she bounced and gave a small laugh, shimmying next to him so that their bodies were touching. She grinned when he mentioned the coin she won, and spoke a little excitedly, "Not only that, but they told me about all sorts of interesting areas in the mixed kingdom to explore, I think it would be great to take the little drake there," Covering up her thirst for adventure just a little bit, the dragon attempted to justify it with their child.

However, when Kael reached over, Aurum placed her hand on his and guided it to where the magic between them began pulsing once more - though it seemed strong now, as if night was when activity was at its highest. There was also an odd heat coming from the dragon, and she tilted her head up to her lover's as she began to place kisses on his jawline gently.

Smiling as his lover placed a few kisses on his jaw. The intoxicated prince continued rubbing her belly. His thoughts were currently jumbled as he pulled himself father up the bed. What ever he had drank earlier held him tightly in it's grasp. "Atleast you are not thinking of stealing a carriage" he muttered getting all the way in the bed as he gave a chuckle. Looking back over to Aurum he kissed her a few more times before pulling the covers up to try against his lovers wishes, sleep off what he had drank.

As the light trickled into the room they had rented the next morning. Kaelthas groaned somewhat. The headache that now gripped him thumped loudly in his mind. The alcohol having left him with one last good bye present that morning. "Bye the gods" he muttered sitting up slowly as he pulled the covers off his body and tossed them the rest of the way over aurum. Getting to his feet he reached the night stand were a glass of water from the night before sat still. Chugging it rapidly he held the side of his head. He would need to remember to grab some herbs to lessen the throbbing when they went to leave. "Aurum" Kaelthas chocked out looking back to the bed to see his dragonic lover still asleep. If they wanted to leave with any haste the young soon to be bride would need to awaken.

The dragon was not always as mischievous as she presented herself, but stealing a carriage was something the woman did think of should her human companion prove unable to secure a ride for them. She accepted his kisses and then laid down more when he fell asleep. Aurum sighed and stared up, watching the ceiling for a long while as she rubbed her stomach. Her thoughts swirled but mostly she tried to imagine the sort of creature that would eventually make its way from her womb.. the magic Kael gave off was beastly, but it was seemingly unknown to him. The rune might have had something to do with it, but that was not a beast marking that Aurum knew of, and she thought of what sort of magics she had felt in her time and tried to match something familiar. The dragon's eyes drooped some time later and she fell asleep.

Only to be woken up what felt like only a moment later. Her eyes snapped open at the sound of her name and she grumbled at the intrusion on her dreams. Aurum turned on her side and fell back to sleep for a for more moments before grumbling again and climbing out of the bed and the covers. She dressed herself slowly and gave a lazy flick of her hand and a few words to replace the illusion that Kael had picked for his father and the public - though they were not the incantations that her human counterpart had used when he placed it on her. Aurum looked to Kael as he suffered from far too much drink, and the dragon pursed her lips some. He should not have consumed that much if he couldn't handle it, and she sighed after a moment. "We will need to hurry if you want any luck getting rid of that headache."

"No I am fine. I have something in my bag that can help." Holding back a wave of nausea, Kaelthas moved to his pack. Reaching in he pulled out a few herbs and ate them right there. He wasn't feeling well enough to bother to make them into a medicine. They would work, far be it slower this way. In the end it would take about the same amount of time. "For now we need to hurry up and get there to the guy I contracted." Another wave of nausea hit the prince for a moment as he put on the rest of his clothing.

It took a bit longer with Kaelthas feeling hung over but the two of them got to the cart. "Alright, we are here and ready to go" Kaelthas said to the man who was currently prepping the cart for their trek. "My apologies for the lateness." Giving a small bow he looked back to Aurum helping her into the cart. "We are ready on your leave, sir" Kael called to the man as he himself got into the back of the cart. The travel would still take them some time but this way they wouldn't bring attention to themselves.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 20, 2016 8:28 pm

Aurum watched the human chew down on the herbs he had to relieve his headache, and her nose scrunched up some in disgust. Perhaps it would help him later, but she knew how foul they must have tasted and felt a little bad for him having to consume them in that way. As Kael led the two to the cart, the dragoness eyed the man a little warily.. something didn't seem quite right about him, but she couldn't place it and kept quiet for now. Aurum let her soon-to-be help her into the cart, and let out a little sigh as she got comfortable in her seat. Carts were bumpy things, and the dragon held her stomach a little to secure it as they began to move forward. Distrust was etched over the woman's face, and she glanced to Kael as she spoke quietly, "I recognize him," it was a realization made out loud. Perhaps the dragoness was wrong, but she could have sworn this man was in the beast kingdom a time or two. Aurum looked around her at the passing town, "I can't wait to fly all over this side," She said, her sense of adventure kicking in a little bit once again. When they ended the war.. if, they ended the war, she could fly freely and explore the human realm.

Leaning back Kaelthas spit a piece of the herb that he was not able to chew out the side of the cart. The taste in his mouth was bitter but, it was something he would have to deal with. Already the feeling of the hang over was starting to clear from his mind and body. While the taste was not something to write home about. The fact that they were strong enough to be quick acting was all that mattered. The faster that was gone the faster he would be able to enjoy their ride.

Looking back as Aurum mentioned something about their driver, Kaelthas shifted. She had said something about recognizing the man loud enough so that only he could hear. Not that she needed to be secretive. With the creak of the some what rusted wheels it was easy enough for them to speak in secret. "Should I worry about this?" Kaelthas asked moving closer to his soon to be wife and setting his hand upon her stomach. "Or is it just some passerby you have seen on many occasions? Maybe a merchant that moves between the kingdoms to deliver wears?"

The morning of the royal envoy had arrived. Kaelthas, being ever the early riser, had been awake since dawn. It was now mid morning and the prince sat in his office. Atop his desk lay pages upon pages of paperwork for the trip. Customs, edicts, laws, and the like. Everything checked and double checked over the past week by himself and his father. His father, the King would be taking an envoy to the Mid Kingdom this day. His task was to take one step towards working to unite the land. While the ultimate goal was even loftier of a goal. The unification of both the Beast and Human kingdoms. A goal that since his impregnation and marriage to Aurum, had been a goal they had been striving for. It was not an easy task getting the Human kingdom to the side of unification. There had been many factions within that did and still do oppose it. Too caught up on the days of old, on wounds that should have long since closed.

Giving a light sigh as a stream of sunlight trickled into his office, Kaelthas leaned back. His wife Aurum had arrived late into the castle last night. Long after the children had drifted off to sleep. They had been asking about her. An answer he himself knew little on the location of. The past months to say the least had been rocky for the two. Even longer then that it seemed, ever since they had married and the children had been born. Aurum's fleeting nature had found his wife leaving for most of the days. Even when the children still needed their mothers milk. A fact after the first time he put a stop too. Looking down at a stone that lay next to him he grimaced. It was a communication stone that he had crafted to call Aurum when the children became hungry. Many times that call was ignored, and a wet nurse had to take the load. While he knew Aurum was a free spirit and as much as he tried his best to let her keep her wings spread. They were getting to a time where she needed to start thinking more of settling down, as the soon to be queen.

A soft rap came from the door behind as one of the maids poked her head into his chambers. Before she was able to say anything two small children came rushing past her. Two wide eyed, energetic children came rushing in and dove into the princes lap. "Aveli, Kahfka. Are you two giving the help troubles?" Kaelthas asked with a smile as he leaned in to hug the pair. The children born form a human and dragons pair. "Now now you two, Dad has some more work to do to prepare for our travel today. Go with the nice lady and go and see if your grandpa is awake yet." Letting out a chuckle, both of the children gave a small groan before the maid helped them out of the room. They had grown over the past near three years. Aveli held his own features and dark hair which suited the young girl. Her brother Kahfka, had the lighter of the pair, seeming to take more after their mother then himself. The only similarities to Aurum that either of the pair seemed to share by a shallow observation.

Turning back to look over his work, Kaelthas reached to the small stone on his desk. Gripping it tight he brought it up to his lips. "Aurum" he called seeming to no one but the stone. "I do hope that you remembered that you would be accompanying my father to the Middle Kingdom today. That was today if you remembered. The carriage is leaving after mid day. You had promised me you would not miss this like the Winter Gala." A small sigh escaped his lips as he thought back to the travesty of the party that they had for the kingdom. During the winter months when Aurum had decided to leave the kingdom to who knows where. Thus leaving the prince alone at a party meant for the both of them.
