Ihiannsith sent as thread broke through ahead and managed to smack into them. He blinked rapidly but it hurt! It hurt a lot! He whined as he got his bearings again. It really had hurt.

'I'm okay... 'Aly'on replied breathing a bit heavily and winced. 'Can you keep going?' He questioned, petting Ihiannsith broad back. He hated to see the brown in pain.

Roll 1 - 16 You appear from Between only to find yourself in the perfect spot to catch a sliver of Thread. You successfully flame it down easily. [+1 Target Accuracy]

Roll 2 - 10 Are you feeling lucky? Well you should! Free reply! Respond to this post with any action pertaining to Threadfall, and gain a little luck. [+1 Luck]

Roll 3-5 A small clump of Thread has fallen through! You successfully flame it down. [+1 Target Accuracy]

Roll 4-Oh no, look out! A small clump of thread broke through the ranks, and has managed to hit your and your dragon. It is an ugly tangle, and though you blink between, it's going to hurt! [Moderate Damage -5 HP. You are now flying with a Painful status effect. This will negate your next immediate rolls XP and double damage if the roll includes set damage (or has you roll for damage).

Irath called, doing his best to dodge and flame it away.

J'in grunted his answer, fingers biting the straps and as low as he could go to keep away from the fall. It burned, it hit hard and he could hear Irath squeal and the browns pain and kept in control enough to get them between and back and it wasn't deaddd. Frick.

'Irath!'He shouted half panic and shuddered, it was eating him.

the brown commanded. He soothed and blinked again, and over the weyr and down, down.

Rolling
how about not 4

4. Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has eaten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUNKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get dunked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option.

Roll 1: You keep looking up, but nothing seems to be heading your way. Your neck is starting to object, but it doesn't matter. You must be ever vigilant, or so the saying goes. The Queen's Wing is an important position, but it sure can be boring... Part of you wishes you could be higher up, where all the action is. Part of you is grateful you're safer down here.
Roll 2: Thread! As you dive towards it, you find yourself missing the Thread completely! It tangles and writhes onto your dragon's front leg and shoulder! Shaffit all! Moderate Damage! -5 HP

There! Finally, Thread had fallen in range! Elzebuth folded his wings and dove, his mouth gaping in preparation to sear the disgusting stuff from the sky for good! Maybe it was due to their inexperience, or maybe G'ran should have slowed his brown's eager attack, but suddenly, instead of bellowing in triumph, Elzebuth roared in agony. Elzebuth!

The huge brown went Between, and the silvery stuff froze and crackled away. They winked back into sight, and G'ran leaned down with a wordless growl. Definitely scored, but it wasn't heavy damage. I am fine! Elzebuth's eyes blazed red with rage, both at his slip-up, and at the fact that he had failed yet again! Steady. G'ran thought fiercely at him, and for a moment, had to struggle to reign his companion in. With a rumble of anger, Elzebuth finally complied, wheeling back into position.

The wind was much worse than it had been on their first fight, and a particularly savage gust buffeted the pair of them. G'ran held his breath--and Elzebuth expertly navigated it, barely even moving out of formation. The pair radiated satisfaction, and the big man thumped his dragon affectionately on the shoulder. No strained wings, this time!

Elzebuth hated not being higher up with his siblings, hated knowing that Aresoth was helping to lead them while he was stuck in a safer position. It was for his rider, yes, but surely they could prove themselves! The big brown was growing restless, and it was taking everything in G'ran's power to keep him focused. Focus, Elzebuth! His mental voice had a snap in it now, and he was met with a surge of irritation in response. Still, Elzebuth would obey... grudgingly, but he would!

flying in the second wave, mid level

I'llian's eyes narrowed as he cast his pale amber gaze skyward yet again. Then he resumed his pacing in front of his beloved blue Xith. This waiting was killing him. He wanted to fight Thread! This was what he trained for his entire life -- it was his entire reason for being! The bluerider understood the reasoning behind sending the smaller dragons up in shifts, but it still irritated him that he was assigned to the second wave. They had flown Thread before and certainly knew the ropes by now, but that didn't help quell the excitement of fighting Pern's ancient enemy and following in his Oldtimer ancestors' footsteps.

Soon, IlliMine, Xith sent, chewing on more firestone so that he had a good supply in his belly. His multi-faceted eyes whirled orange with excitement, however, and he couldn't help but follow his remark up with waves of anticipation. It would not be soon enough for the eager little blue, either! We are an experienced pair. Soon it will be our turn. Then we will do as we have always done, and do it very well!

"I know," I'llian muttered softy. "I just want to get up there now." The small man stopped his pacing and went to adjust his riding straps for the millionth time. He couldn't sit and wait patiently aboard his lifemate like some of the others were doing, he was too impatient for that. Rubbing Xith's blue shoulder, he resumed his pacing, awaiting the word to take to the sky.

5.A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through. If this is your fourth time rolling this status, you start feeling Guilt [Take 3 Turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -4 HP. Any successful bonuses by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.]

Shards, shards, shards! Though Elzebuth had given a spectacular dive, he was just a bit too slow to flame the tangle of thread that now went spiraling down to the earth. Shards, if he'd been paying more attention, he might have been able to see it! G'ran could feel Elzebuth's flash of anger as well, but gave himself a rough mental shake. No time to dwell on it. They just had to do their damnedest to make sure it didn't happen again!

Kinitarth and His believes in us. Mnereth informed his anxious rider, sending back warmth and support in turn. Fly strong. We will succeed! He offered back, his eyes beginning to whirl with the passion of his words. Though he was not an excitable dragon by any means, even the solid blue felt something when their hated enemy was upon them.

"It's time." K'lar exhaled before easily mounting upon his beloved. "Go, Mnereth!"

--

It was already apparent that this was going to be the spot that required the most attention and altitude. K'lar was leaned flush against Mnereth's hide as the blue twisted, weaved, and flamed. A sudden gust of wind flared up, sending a clump of thread right towards them--and Mnereth dropped. K'lar would have yelped if he hadn't been expecting the maneuver, and the thread sailed harmlessly past as Mnereth caught himself and sailed onward. "Nicely done!" He roared over the din, and was rewarded with a lazy flush of warm pleasure from his ever-capable blue.

As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formaiton! If less than 22 feet, you get blown out of formation, but are agile enough to avoid getting hit with Thread. Hurry now -- better make it back before your Wingleader scolds you! If 23' to 35', you're able to fight it, but wind up pulling a wing muscle. Whoops. Maybe you over-compensated. -4 HP If 36'-46', you're able to fight the wind with relative ease. Unfortunately, the nearby Threadfall gets blown into your side and haunches -- and you were too big to move out of the way. Ouch, does that not burn!? Moderate Damage -8 HP

This wind was relentless! Again and again it howled at them, and K'lar could feel his valiant blue try to fight against the gale. A small flash of pain struck his shoulder, and K'lar immediately spun to check on the wing in question. A sore muscle. Mnereth reassured him, causing the man to growl with sympathy. Better that than a scored hide--and bless Mnereth, doing all he could to stay in position!

After overcompensating just moments ago, Mnereth was paying careful attention to the gusting currents--but even then, K'lar felt how he was exerting himself to remain where he was! You call out to warn them, and manage to at least catch one clump while your wingmates blink Between. [+1 Target Accuracy]

Mnereth! There, thread was falling, and their fellow wingrider didn't have time to handle it! I see! Mnereth spun and dove, rearing his head back as he lined up his shots--and flamed in short succession, searing each of the three clumps. Brilliantly done! K'lar laughed out loud as they soared away, gleefully patting his dragon's neck with so much pride that he felt about fit to burst.

Mnereth, for his part, merely rumbled humbly. This was what they were made to do, and he was grateful that K'lar's nerves had started to settle... as he knew they would.

K'lar's triumph quickly turned to alarm and shock as a dragon suddenly appeared right in front of them, flames roaring! Mnereth squealed with surprise and agony, immediately retreating to the cold of Between. "Mnereth!" K'lar roared as soon as they had returned, immediately trying to sight the wound. Bad, shards, it was bad--but not as bad as it could have been.

I can still fly. Mnereth reassured his anxious rider, though his eyes were flecked with orange. It hurt, but he was alright. He would do his duty!
